Fall of 2018 I employed PZ Construction to do a tear off and re roof my home. Spring of ******************************** the same area again. Reaching out to PZ he came out once and has refused to fix. The damage is now spreading and I am about to hire a new roofer. I am hoping that with the BBB help I can get PZ to fix the roof as I am not in a position to afford another roofer fee.

Tell us why hereTo Whom It ****************** are very sorry to hear that one of our Clients might bedissatisfied with our services. Our goal is to serve the customers to the bestof our ability.
Unfortunately, after numerous attempts we are not able tosolve the problem the Client is stating to be having.
According to our records, our company was first contacted bythe Client in July of 2010 with the roof leaking issue ,after previous repairperformed by another contractor. The Client was dissatisfied with the workperformed. She stated that there was damage to the roof due to the storm andthe insurance company sent their contractor to do the repairs. It was statedthat the leak started immediately after the repair.

After the initial investigation no obvious source of the potential leak wasfound. It was decided that there is a possibility the ridge of the roof mighthave been compromised and, in attempt to solve this potential issue we proposedto replace the existing ridge shingle accessories using a strip of modified roofingmembrane along the ridge line. The ridge line of the house is an unusualtransition of the sloped shingle roof into the flat roof therefore        use of the continuous roofing membranewas an improvement over the use of the nailed down shingle accessories.  From the very beginning the Client wasinformed and aware that this repair is no guarantee of stopping the stated leak.Since there was no obvious problem discovered it was an attempt of improvingthe situation.
We werent contacted by the Client until 2014, when we weretold that the leak has reoccurred. The visual inspection didnt reveal anydamage to the previously repaired roof area.  Judging from the not frequent contact from the Client we started tosuspect that the leak might be related to a specific situation rather than themechanical defect. To rule out any potential invisible damage to the roof overthe stated leak area we proposed a replacement of this section with themembrane roof. Coincidently, during the inspection of the larger area of theroof we discovered damage to the soil stack on the different section of theroof, not related to the area of question. We proposed the repair of this aswell. Both proposals were not accepted by the Client at that time and therepairs were not performed.
We werent contacted again until 2017. After returning tothe property we have not found any visual damage. The Client stated that theleak occurs after every rain, asking what else could be done to the roof. Atthis point we decided to water test the roof by hosing it down. The fact thatthis did not reproduce the leak suggested that the leak might be seasondependent (due to winter conditions). We proposed a replacement of the shingledportion of the roof due to its age and condition and in hopes of improving thesituation. We also proposed to install the ice and water shield to the entiresloped roof, opposed to just a section of it in hopes of further improving thesituation. The ice and water shield installation over the entire section wouldeliminate any possibility of ice damming during winter. The proposal was notaccepted by the Client at that time and the work was not performed.
We have not been contacted by the client for another year.In 2018 the Client called and accepted the above proposal. It was revised andsigned. The shingled portion of the roof was replaced and the ice and watershield was installed to this entire section.
In the spring of 2019 we were contacted by the Clientstating the leak has reappeared again. We visited the property, investigatedand no active leak was discovered. The inside inspection revealed dark spots onthe ceiling suggesting moisture appearance in the past. It was decided that wewill return during the rain to check if the leaks will activate. We went backto the property on the rainy day, investigated the spots which appeared dry tothe touch and no active leaks were observed. Due to the fact that we checkedthe alleged leak spots during the rain and they were not changed by suchconditions the only explanation of the reason for the existence of the leakwould be leakage related to moisture accumulation during winter conditions. This is not unusual. During winter with a very cold outside temperatures, ifthere is not sufficient insulation in the walls or under the roof, warmer andmore humid condition inside the house results in accumulation of the water inthe highest area of the ceiling. It can then freeze in that area. After theoutside temperature rises, the ice inside melts, creating the appearances ofleakage. In the light of this discovery we suggested that to check if thatcould indeed be the reason in the Clients case, would be cutting out theportion of the drywall on the ceiling and checking if there is a sufficient insulationbetween the roof and the ceiling. This suggestion was left for the Clientsconsideration. We never received the final decision.
It was difficult fromthe beginning to find the reason of the potential leak. Whether it was due tothe previously suboptimal repair approaches, structural characteristics or the weathercondition dependencies it was hard to pinpoint. We have tried differentapproaches and fixes. The communication with the Client was not always the bestbut we were always trying to accommodate and address the Clients needs as bestas we could, to the best of our expertise and  in timely fashion. We are sorry that thisappeared to be not enough. We find the Client's complaint to be unjustified andunfair.
      Best regards,

      Complaint: 15779029

I am rejecting this response because:

To start with it is not true that we were told that there was a possibility that the leak would still be present after the repairs. We chose PZ believing it would be the most comprehensive and permanent repair. To think that after $5,700 repair the leak would be present and in fact worse is just wrong.

In the spring of 2019 we found a section of the roof to be actively leaking. We sent via text a video of this (the clip is not compatible with the attachments). PZ came out once, did not find an obvious problem and stated he would come back when it was raining.  Multiple calls went unreturned, as well as texts. I was never given the option to open up the ceiling or any other further investigation.

I dont understand how PZ can feel this is an unfair complaint. They were hired to fix the roof and that was not done.

      Sincerely,

I don't agree to the lie about not responding to the calls and texts. I didn't respond only once to the text massage containing picture or video (I don't remember) sent to my cell without any written information. In addition quality of the picture was so poor that I couldn't see any details. I didn't know who sent the massage and why, so how could I respond to it.

I am rejecting this response because:

The roof was never properly repaired. Above photos were sent with out answers from you. This in addition to phone calls have been unanswered.
The roof is leaking, we need it repaired. You never offered to me opening up the ceiling to see where the problem is. Or any other way of fixing the problem.
      I need the roof repaired.

      Sincerely,
