We hired this company to move our belongings to our new house. They changed the contract after is was signed. When I informed him it's fraud to change a contract after it's been signed, they lunged at me and I had to call the police. I spoke with the owner and attempted to pay the original price but he said that was not acceptable. So far I have only paid the $99 reservation fee. I attempted to pay the remaining original balance.

I am responding on behalf of College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving to address the unresolved matter of the outstanding payment for the moving services rendered to you on 04/18/2024.

As previously agreed, we provided you with an estimate for the move, encompassing the items discussed at that time. However, additional items were included to your move on the day of the relocation, resulting in an adjustment to the estimate. It is important to note that you acknowledged these changes and the associated increase in cost by signing an addendum to the estimate, thereby confirming your acceptance of the modified items and costs.

Unfortunately, upon completion of the move and when it was time for payment, a dispute arose regarding the additional amount, despite your initial approval of these changes and costs when signing the addendum.

Moreover, during this process, an unsettling incident occurred where the addendum document was forcibly taken and destroyed. Such actions are unacceptable considering the legal implications of the document, prompting our involvement with law enforcement to safeguard our personnel and property. Consequently, we were compelled to vacate your premises while maintaining communication with emergency services until the matter was resolved by the appropriate authorities.

Despite the successful completion of the move and the provision of our services, we have yet to receive payment for the work performed. Regrettably, our attempts to resolve this issue directly with you have been met with resistance in fulfilling your financial obligation for the services provided.

We are eager to resolve this matter amicably and secure timely payment for the services extended. However, should the need arise, we are prepared to pursue legal recourse to guarantee the protection of our rights and appropriate compensation for the services delivered.

Committed to a prompt and equitable resolution, we are open to further discussion to achieve a mutually satisfying solution for both parties. Please reach out to us at your earliest convenience to address this matter and facilitate the settlement of the outstanding services.

Your urgent attention in resolving this matter is greatly appreciated. We anticipate a swift resolution to this issue.

      Thank you for your cooperation.

      Complaint: 21615033

I am rejecting this response because:

No extra work was added to the initial estimate.  The document referred to in your response was not destroyed by me and was also fraudulently altered by your staff.  The ******* County Police have issued you and your staff a no trespass on our property as a result of your attempt at a physical confrontation.

We still have never received any invoice for work performed despite requesting an invoice via certified letter that was delivered on 5/4/2024 at 10:17am via USPS.

Due to the attempt at fraudulently modifying the contract by your staff, this payment will only be made through our title company.  Payment shall be made promptly upon receipt of a final invoice in the amount originally contracted of $1755.

As a reminder, due to your and your staffs attempt at physical confrontation, you have been issued a no trespass on our property by the ******* County Police.  Please do not attempt to approach our property.

      Sincerely,

I am currently in the process of moving and due to an injury that occurred at my job *********** I am unable to lift so I was suggested to hire a moving crew. College Hunks provided their FREE estimate, and then requested a $180 down payment. I told them that my closing date would likely be pushed back due to issues with the septic and seller having to fix them; the man performing the estimate said it wouldn't be a problem and if I needed a refund, one would be provided without issue so long as I kept them updated. I had to reschedule 3 times and they said it was fine, due to circumstances outside of my span of control. I called the company to cancel my need for a crew and issue my refund as the closing date is now officially unknown due to more issues and they told me they would contact a manager. I had to call twice in order to receive said phone call from the manager, ****, who told me I could not receive a refund due to it being outside the 3 day window of the INITIAL scheduled date. This information was never given to me before paying the down payment, nor is anything listed under their website terms and conditions section regarding refunds or qualifiers for refunds, nor is anything listed in the receipt or rescheduling email other than "your deposit may be forfeited" without any qualifiers explaining what would constitute a forfeited refund, nor was a contract listing out terms and conditions signed by either party. This is embarrassing behavior for a company. If you are going to refuse a refund, your terms and conditions must be written out, not "playing it by ear" when the customer is unaware. I am requesting full refund for my down payment, especially since services were never rendered. Move in dates can be so fluid with military deployments/PCSing/civilian ***********, I would hate to see another individual or family be subject to such poor conduct when most have little to no money to throw away carelessly in this economy. Take your business elsewhere.

I have received the complaint from ****************************  I have already issued her a full refund of $180.00 on February 10, 2023.

There is more to the backend of this complaint.  The customer booked a job and then rescheduled it, on the same day of the move.  Then she rescheduled again.  That is 2 times I had to rearrange my crew and lost other jobs due to the rescheduling.  She was never told during the estimate that she would be refunded. However, if she did need to reschedule, to provide me with a day or two notice.

Attached is the refund receipt and email confirmations regarding the rescheduling.  If you look at the emails, there is a section that is called Rescheduling/Cancellation.  The paragraph does state that the deposit may be forfeited.  It also states to find out more about the cancellation policy at your local office.  ****** did speak with one of our managers who did state that she was not entitled to a refund.  She was also told about a no-refund policy on the day of the estimate. We tried to work with her multiple times to make this move for her stress-free.

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to my attention. I thrive for my crew and myself to be transparent and upfront.

      Thank you,
