We don't see any record of request to cancel your services prior to your contact with our customer service department on Friday 8/11/23, which is when your account was cancelled. We have been attempting to collect payment for previously rendered services you agreed to dating back to early July. We would be willing to write off the last landscape bed weed control application, as this was applied in late July instead of August per your request.       I am rejecting this response because:

      It does not surprise the buissness has no record of the communications however I spoke to the technician when he was here and I called the office twice to speak with a manager. I also left several messages over  the course of two months that they had been billing the worng card, were not treating the right areas of the yard and that the product was not working.

       

      For the buissness to say they just heard about the cancellation on Aug 11 is probably true as they have poor record keeping customer service and cutomer management responce.

       

      I explained this on Aug 11. I  am not paying for the treatment as I had spoken with the technician directly and told him not to make any more treatments as the product was not working. He said he would note our file and wait it check back with me. He came bacck when I was not home and did the application.


      I am refusing to pay for services I asked not to be done.

      Thank you for the details you have provided here. We have used your feedback to help coach the staff member who visited your property & will continue to strive for excellent communication. 

      Our notes show that we spoke to a Male at your property on June 26th and spoke to a Female at your property on July 5th. The acceptable way to cancel, change, or refute services is to contact our office. We do not have an answering machine but are open during standard business hours from 8 AM to 6 PM. If you previously left a voicemail or message, as mentioned in your response, you were calling the wrong phone number as a voicemail does not exist. Recent internal correspondence suggests that you have hung up on our office staff when trying to address your concerns.

      Based on our documented communication with you we will move forward and cover the cost for the landscape bed control treatment that we applied at the wrong time.  We stand by all other timelines and anticipate payment for services rendered.

      Called weed man may 23 2023 for quote on weed and fertilizer for ********. Gave me quote of 70.dollars for 6 applications if paid in full get 10% off so paid ******. Told me becuase of late call would do 2 applications on first spray.They came out sprayed may 25th. Then came out June 15th. Daughter told them not getting whole lawn and where to make sure they get. She works from home so could not watch everything they did but she said they did not walk back and forth in back where she could see from patio doors and did not spray where they were told. On july 10th came out and she told guy same thing make **** do whole lawn and certain areas. *** only sprayed here and there not even where he was told to make sure where to get. She stood and watched him sprayed only here and there which i assume only spot sprayed. Not even where told to spray. Called customer service said it was **** sq feet. Told her i dont care what feet they have I paid for whole lawn fertilizer and weed spray. She just kept saying only so many feet. Said would contact company and get back to me. No call. First they did not come and look at lawn for estimate assumed brought up on ******* so did not say how may square feet. I paid for whole lawn fertilizer and weed spray not spot spray. Cannot fertilize lawn only spot spraying.. also text on july 7 says july 8th would complete the weed and fertilizer control that doesnt add up to 6.

Based on our meeting, we feel confident that our adjusted approach with your upcoming free reapplication will help improve the results you're seeing on the lawn. Please be aware that not every application in our program requires full coverage of the lawn - on some applications, only "spot treatments" are necessary, as we are only treating active weeds on the lawn. Other weed control applications will be "blanket applications" which do require full coverage. All fertilizer applications, however, are granular treatments that are applied to the whole lawn. Depending on the lawn & conditions, achieving the ideal result can take time, multiple treatments, occasional adjustments to the program, and patience. We thank you for your time and would like to reassure you that we're confident that you'll see improvements as your program continues with this upcoming, more aggressive weed control reapplication that we discussed.       I called weed man last year for lawn service applications for the season and paid them with a credit card, over the phone. They contacted me after the season for next year. Regarding early contract discount, And I did not respond because I did not choose to have their service this year yet, they showed up and did an application this spring and now are expecting payment. They're telling me they auto renew. However why would they be contacting me for early discount prices to contract me anyways? I did not sign anything regarding auto renew. And want this bill thrown out. Not sure I have the correct weed man but my billing address states ******** ********.I contacted weed man told them I did not ask for their service and i'm not paying the bill. They continue to bill me.

      Last year during spring time we had weed *** Services they did Grass application the Grass was turning yellow color like burn we contact the company was told grass color was normal not to worried about call them many times explain to them no resolution they send some body to evaluate according to them we didnt see the person now they create another contract we told them to cancel ,twice they came 3/23 4/23 the person from today said grass was burned because they add too much fertilizer we want our grass to look healthy as it was not very happy see pictures

      I hired weed man to do one thing only to get rid of weeds at my property, it all started fine till the end when the technician wasnt showing up, the on august 30 I got another charge for a service I did not authorize or sign for, so I called questioning when the technician was coming and what this other charge was, I was told they get back to me later that day on august 31, so I called back Friday September 2 and was told the technician was en route and that I would get a call back after they listen to the phone call on new job they said I approved, which there was none! Today on the phone I was told that it wasnt over the phone and that someone talked to my wife which is a lie bcuz I never gave them my wifes name or number, I was the only one in the contact information! I was also told the *************** today that I talked to on Friday whatever happened with them getting back to me and she admitted that was her fault, now they r charging me $477 for another service I did not authorize or sign for, their technicians r paid commission, it is unethical for this company to b allowed to just start another job a charge me for it since they have my card number without my express written consent, thank u for taking the time to hear my complaint, *************************

      Thank you for sharing your concerns. The extra service referenced in your complaint (called a "lawn improvement package") was offered to you by the Technician at the door. Per our records and account of the situation, you verbally agreed to this service with the assurance that the additional service could be cancelled at any time prior to completion. There were a handful of opportunities for this service to be cancelled when we reached out to provide pre-notification of the upcoming service visit. We had to reschedule the first time, so you also received a reschedule notice and a second pre-notification that alerted you in advance of our intention to complete this ordered service.

      We do apologize for any confusion that *** have occurred regarding this additional service - it is not our intent to provide any services that are not agreed upon or not wanted by our customers. While we do believe that the service was agreed to and provided properly and ethically, we'd like to write off the amount for this service as a demonstration of good faith. Providing a great customer experience and providing our services in an ethical manner are two of our most important goals, as such we will make sure you are refunded for the lawn improvement package service.       Order of events:1) Weed Man came to by door to sell 'fertilizer and weed control' and I purchased it for the season which includes recommended between service calls as weeds grow between major service (no additional cost);2) Upon their first visit, I learned that beds are not covered and it is a substantial additional cost (as much as the lawn service), this is not stated on their website or at sale and bed control is not even a listed service (bait and add strategy);3) I changed my service from lawn to bed control (my prior paid in full covered the cost);4) After initial bed control, I attempted for over a month to get a service call (weeds are two feet tall in some places) which regular responses indicating I have been prioritized;5) They showed up once to do another lawn service, I told them I needed bed service and do not have lawn service. They asked if they can apply anyways "to do their job as dispatched" and I said ok but I did not pay for it so you are doing it for free, they said 'ok, they told us to do it';6) After over a month of promises and no delivery (in some cases I received no response or call despite my requests), I requested a refund which can only be done by phone;7) They indicated that I will not receive a confirmation for cancellation and it will not include serviced rendered;8) I told them they must refund the entire amount as the value from the first visit for bed control is only valuable if maintained, thus I did not get the value from the first application that was to last 1/3 of the season because they would not show up for follow on service;9) I have made a request for cancellation status and still have had no response;10) They have also since changed how the services I purchased look (they originally were broken down to cost in segments, now some costs are combined) - maybe to try to reduce refund amount;11) I have email apologies / promises from them proving my requests and lack of response;12) They have inital reqs on file

      I am rejecting this response because: I am not sure if 'refund' represents a full or partial refund (it should be full as I was unable to gain the full value of the original applications due to the lack of spot treatment delivery).   Also, timing of refund would be helpful as the agent I spoke to indicated there would be no confirmation sent and no specific timing as to when the refund, if any, would be completed.   I appreciate their response and appreciate BBB's role.  More clarity will allow me to better accept or reject.  Thanks again.

      I am rejecting this response because it seems like we are connecting to the wrong office?  We are looking to confirm they will refund the entire amount per my email to the BBB after the last rejection.  Partial refund is not sufficient as the initial services they are not refunding me for have no value in that they are only valuable if spot service is rendered, in this case it was not.  If needed, ************************* was a contact I was given at Weed Man ************** and **************, which should ensure you are getting to the right ******* location.  He is extension x300 if needed.   I am looking for a full refund per my detailed email and reasoning I sent to BBB outside of this chain because I could not update the case at the time.

We understand that you had some confusion about what was included in your initial lawn care program - as part of our standard lawn care program, we are only treating the lawn (areas of turfgrass). Landscape beds are not currently, nor have they ever been, included in our lawn care programs. Rather, they are available through a separate program that is fairly new, which is why it is not yet showcased on our site. We apologize if this information was unclear or confusing. As for your concerns regarding the timeliness of your applications, we would like to apologize - like many businesses, we are currently short staffed, and are doing our best to continue providing excellent customer service and quality applications with this limited number of team members. We have refunded your bed control service due to lack of results and all other services for which you pre-paid but did not yet receive. We understand your frustration here.       I am rejecting this response because:

      I reject the business response as it is a partial refund only.

      The services I pre-paid for that they did not refund did not effectuate the benefit of the bargain that was contracted.  To be more specific, the service requires follow-up treatments when growth appear, on demand (following their guidance) to be effective.  My complaint is that they did not provide the follow-up visits (I have all the commitments and communications they sent that did not fulfill) and therefore the original visits did not produce the guaranteed results.  I am not challenging that they expended effort, however they diminished the effort by not following up to control weeds as necessary and committed to.  More than one representative agreed and apologized for the problem, however they simply could not solve for it and get to my home (they never showed up for any follow-up visit) after the initial application.  By the time I filed the complaint, I had to cut down weeds 2-3 feet in height in great quantity, pay another service to get them under control, which also cost even more because they had to 'clean up' the extensive growth before they could effectively apply more treatment and get the weeds under control.  I also had to deal with complaints from my neighbors that used other services regarding how my weeds were impacting the overall beauty of our homes and ''was I planning to do anything about it".  Fortunately, I had the weed-man signs and assured them I was doing my best to get spot visits for which weed-man was guaranteeing priority by continued to never show up at my home.  I am not going after additional dollars to cover my time, additional expense, etc., to recover from the weed mess they left at my home.  I am trying to be reasonable by asking for a full refund based on the facts presented.  Certainly, in a small claims approach, I would be asking for more than just a refund, I would also be requesting compensation for my time, additional expense and overall embarrassment with emails to support apologies made by weed-man when they continued to not show up for service.

      Thus they are saying they only owe a partial refund because they provided initial service.  I am saying that I deserve a full refund because initial service is only valuable when predicated on additional visits (based on what their agents told me when I contracted and as I called for follow-up on-demand treatment).  In fact, the follow-up on demand treatment at no cost is what the market as a differentiator that makes their service better than others.  Again, initial application without follow-up visit(s) has no value, however they did not refund me that part of my pre-payment.

      All of the details, etc., are included in the original filing that went to the wrong region.  Also, I have emails and if they record their calls and are an honest organization, they will be able to confirm even the restatements by their agents that the follow-up visits are necessary to gain the value of the initial treatment.

      Any continues assistance working this case is greatly appreciated.

      I have been attempting to work with BBB on case #********.
       
      The case was originally assigned to the wrong region and recently shifted to the correct region (Chicago).

      Since it moved to Chicago, I keep getting messages saying I did not respond to requests for more information and the case closed.
       
      I keep writing back to say it is not closed, here is the detail.   The other BBB region had no issues receiving emails from me, however Im concerned somehow my outreach to the new region is not being received and recorded to keep the case open and resolve compliant.  When I go into the complaint, I cannot find a place to simply add notes or counter the closing of the case.
       
      I did get one phone call outreach when the case was shifted to the Chicago BBB where I explained the movement from the wrong region to Chicago and followed up by writing a detailed explanation of why the case should not be closed.
       
      I have received no responses to date except 3 different emails saying the case was being closed to do my lack of responsiveness.  When I look at the history, I cannot see any outreaches to me in that back and forth.

      I am able to receive messages from BBB as Im getting the notices, I also checked my spam folder.  I also have not had any voicemail messages left for me.

      I am sending this to you via my other email address in case you are unable to receive emails from my primary email address (***************) in the Chicago Region.
       
      My goal is to keep the case open as the resolution provided by the other part is not sufficient recovery and resolution.

      I called this a number of companies back in April to get quotes about spraying for Mosquitos or what they can do for the lawn. I did not at that time place an order or request for any services from anyone. This company came out without my knowledge or request when I was not home and claim to have provided a service. I did not ask for this service. Now I have offered to pay half of the amount as they said they came out. But I will not pay the full amount for a service I did not order. I shouldn&#**;t be paying anything since I didnt order it. They claim to have a recording of me ordering it but I did not. I asked them to play it for me but they couldnt. I want to hear this recording.
