In August 2023, BBB investigated Gast Monuments, Inc.'s business practices. This investigation was prompted by a scam submission regarding multiple consumer complaints stating the business was not honoring the contracted times and dates of delivering grave monuments and not engraving headstones as ordered.
Their Secretary of State of IL filling is showing the business is dissolved and has been since 12/08/2023.

The BBB has reached out to Gast Monuments, Inc. on 8/10/2023, 08/16/2023, and 08/23/2023 regarding the complaints and asked the business to provide a plan of action to address the complaints.
We have also asked the business to update the current profile for email contacts and management details. However as of 8/28/2023 the business has not responded.
As of 11/11/2024 the company has been listed as Out of Business and the website is no longer active.

Attorney General Raoul Files Lawsuit Against Gast Monuments
Attorney General Kwame Raoul announced his office filed a lawsuit against Gast Monuments Inc. (Gast Monuments), its President James F. Gast and Vice President Katherine E. Gast, alleging the burial and memorial services company misled and deceived consumers into paying thousands of dollars for orders that were either not completed within the promised timeframe or not delivered at all. Gast Monuments filed for corporate dissolution in December 2023, Raoul’s lawsuit alleges the defendants made no effort to inform customers that the company had ceased operations until eight months after its dissolution. The lawsuit seeks to require restitution to all affected consumers, permanently ban the defendants from offering and selling burial services, and impose a civil penalty for each violation of the law.
