I worked with ********************************* to fix a timing chain for a car. He had quoted $2,400. After the work was complete he said they ended up needing to do some more work and it cost(1/25/23) $2,748.00. We paid and picked up the car. I was still making a noise and doing something similar as it was prior to bringing it in. He looked at it again and stated it was only the catalytic converter and said he would put one on for us but we needed to find the part. That was not a problem as we searched for the part together. He said the car was safe to drive and that these cars go forever. I had my husband and father talk to him because I didn't feel comfortable with how the car was driving and my son was the driver. The sound was exactly as it was before. He reassured all of us that it was fine and the noise was the catalytic converter. The car sat at the shop and then the house. I finally let my son take the car out because he said it was fine and the car broke down(2/14/23) and the engine wouldn't turn. We had it towed back to this shop. He was going to charge me to open it up. After looking at it he saw it was from his timing chain job and didn't charge me and said the engine is dead. We had to junk the car. We lost $4,000 worth of work and plates and title and tow. I want a full refund. I texted him on 2/16 and called on 2/22 but he will not even call me back to resolve this on our own. I have witnesses and people he talked to where he said that car was safe and he put my son at risk and lost our hard-earned money. I also have dated notes if this needs to be escalated further.
