Purchased puppy 11/4/24 from this breeder-$3062.00 Transferred to trainer, who was recommended by breeder, on 11/6-pd $1950.00 for 3 weeks of training. Total for medication, vet costs, and cleaning--$400 11/26/24-Notified upon pick up from trainer that puppy "may" have Giardia due to other puppies having been diagnosed and she is having frequent stools. My pup to our vet on 11/27/24- notified of Giardia in pup week of December 1st. We are on our 3rd course of antibiotics for Giardia. When contacted PawPad-my response from Jennifer was "So sorry! She had a clear sample here!" I was also communicated to from Christine that weekly in house tests are completed at the kennel and one stool is completed at the vet. Their vet's sample was over a week before our puppy went to the trainer and in addition, I am being told that the home tests are not reliable, as my home test was negative and the vet test was positive. I did not receive any of the home test results from Christine or Jennifer. In addition, pup was never tested while at trainer and with concerns of other pups having Giardia and my pup with concern, should have been tested in that 3 week span of having her. My concern is that PawPad is promoting the trainer who has known pups with Giardia or have had Giardia at her facility. Giardia can stay in the soil for months. It is recommended to avoid boarding situations due to it being highly contagious. If I would have known, I would not have chosen this trainer and most likely would not have purchased a puppy from Paw Pad as I was looking for a breeder who was associated with a training program due to our home situation. I paid a lot of money for the puppy and for training. I expected better!

    Hi Heidi,
Sorry to hear that your vet's treatment is not working for your puppy. Please have them put her on 2 weeks of the meds (panacur and Metronidazole) and then wait 5 weeks before retesting. Since they are only doing 5 days of treatment and then retesting, they will get positives. It takes weeks for the shedding to stop and it takes longer than 5 days of dewormer. If they keep doing these short treatments and getting her off them and back on them so often, they are going to cause a resistance to the dewormer. I tried explaining that in an email. I will be more than happy to talk to your vet directly.
One week prior to leaving our facility is adequate time to get a stool sample done. We go above and beyond at our facility. The snap tests can be false for a positive result, not for a negative one. You can get a "positive" snap test result long after puppy/dog is done shedding the cysts. Your puppy did not have giardia while in our care.
I have spoken with the trainer, that you used, and asked her to do stool tests at her place when she sees changes in their stools or frequency.
I know that giardia can be very frustrating if not treated correctly and toys and bedding washed regularly.
Please have your vet reach out to me with any questions.

Christine— I adopted Lucy, a medium golden doodle, who was retired from breeding 3 1/2 yrs. ago. As a super senior, I knew getting a puppy wasn’t a practical idea. Lucy was/is a perfect match. Thank you, again.
Lucy has her neighborhood fan club. Taking her for walks has led to my meeting and enjoying my neighbors. Lucy loves them all.
As promised, Lucy is healthy. Her wonderful vet and I make certain of that. Neighbors help walking her when snow and ice conditions keep me indoors.
I truly wish I could get Lucy a Paw Pad Doodle buddy, but at 85, probably not a sensible thought. Will just continue visiting your website and loving the videos.

Most professional and friendly staff I could’ve asked for. They made a potentially stressful process go so smoothly for us. We were amazed at how clean and well organized everything was. Once I convince my husband to get a second puppy, I know we will definitely be going back to The Paw Pad Doodles!
