I was referred to this oral surgery facility by ***********. My daughter needed her wisdom teeth out. I made the appointment months ahead of time, and talked with them about insurance and gave them my information several times. They never bothered to tell me that they were out of network for my insurance and so my benefits would not apply. Also, all the money I did have to pay would not go toward my annual deductible, costing me thousands of extra dollars this year. They flat out lied to me to get me in the door because they know I would never go to a doctor that's out of network. And then, started charging me interest on the bill after less than one month, and called me several times per month to harass me about payments.Business response

I'm sorry to hear this. We are always upfront with all of our patients/guarantors regarding fees &insurance. We submit to all insurances whether in or out of network. Had the parent looked into their benefits prior to calling our office and scheduling an appointment they would have seen the doctor is out of network. Just because we are out of network does not mean insurance won't pay. We still received two insurance payments on this account even though we were out of network. One payment was from medical insurance and the other payment was from their dental insurance (which reduced the out of pocket expense). We also applied a significant discount to the balance. We did try reaching out to the guarantor to discuss the account and payments moving forward, however we never received a return call. There was one message left in the beginning of November and two messages were left in December. I do not feel this qualifies as harassment. I have attached a copy of our insurance and financial agreement form that must be signed by all patients and/or guarantors. We do have a copy on file that was signed by the parent.

I am rejecting this response because:Whatever excuses they want to give about insurance and blah, blah, blah, they lied to me on several occasions. I asked numerous times about my insurance coverage and was assured, everything was all in order. I asked specifically to make sure we were in network and was assured TWICE that all was fine. I'm sorry I didn't think to record all my conversations with them, because who would think they would lie to me over the phone and then, deny that those calls ever took place. I've read plenty of other reviews of this place. They have done this to plenty of other people and are taking advantage of whoever they can.
And I got way more than 3 phone calls, and letters and bills. I never even received 30 days to pay a bill, before they started charging me interest. They gave insurance companies all the time they wanted and then, that was deducted from my 90 days to pay the bill. That's insane. Medical facilities and insurance companies think they can do whatever they want, and everything is the patients responsibility. Wake up and take responsibility for your fraudulent, abusive and frankly, disrespectful way of treating your community.
