We have used Deck Tech to clean and reseal our deck since 2008. We live near ****************** and have a hard time getting anyone to service us. We usually have them out every other year. Some years the staff has been a little less attentive to details. However, this year they cleaned and sealed our deck in May 2023. They did an outstanding job!! 2 years ago I had hired someone else to come out, they didn't even clean the deck very well. I could still see the dirt and mildew after they supposedly "cleaned" the deck. Cost me $$, but I then called Deck Tech and they did a much better job. At least I could tell the deck had been cleaned. We are on a well where we live, not city water. A few years back, when they came to pressure wash our deck, our outside silcock wasn't getting the water pressure they required. They came back once I had my well/water treatment system repaired. In 15 years, I have not been able to find anyone that else that would even come out and take care of us.Are they perfect, no. But over 15 years every company has employee issues. If you don't want to do it yourself, hire Deck Tech.Review from Scott Q

Dont waste your time with Deck Tech. I had them do work on my two decks back in 2013. The work was done well, and I had no complaints. However, This time around I first dealt with a ******************. We basically played phone tag, and then I was just ignored. I called the company and dealt with a representative named ******** At first, she was helpful, however, I questioned the estimate since the overall increase in price was quite dramatic. I sent multiple emails to see if I could have the estimates split up, but never got a reply.Deck Tech does not care about customer service anymore, and they are way overpriced. I highly suggest getting an estimate elsewhere.Deck Tech, Inc. Response

On 6/20/22 Deck Tech assigned the customer to a field representative who went out to inspect the deck but was not able to make contact with the customer. On 7/11/22 the customer called the main office to report his frustration. We apologized for the delay and to facilitate the quote quicker, the customer was reassigned to our inhouse sales department who was able to provide a quote using the previous information on the dimensions of the deck along with recent pictures the customer provided. The quote was emailed to the customer that same day. The customer emailed back requesting for the estimate to be split in to two quotes to which the revised quotes were emailed on 7/13. The customer emailed on Friday 7/15 stating that he had not received the revised quotes and requested another change in the scope, and on Monday 7/18 the customer emailed again requesting not to be contacted. More recently we have experienced some issues with our emails being blocked or filtered into spam on the receivers end and unfortunately, this is out of control, but we are working with our IT towards finding a resolution.Review from Ross O

Had a fence repaired last fall. Over three months ago, I called Deck Tech to notify them that it is falling over again. Took weeks to get someone out to look at it. When they came out , they put some junkie old wood on my neighbors side of the fence trying to prop up the fence. This didnt last a week before the fence fell over again. After trying to get in contact with someone (again), I finally got in contract with their contractor ******. ****** tried to explain that the reason it was falling over was due to a post being in a low spot and water eroded the post hole. I told ****** that since they did the work last year , the best solution was to move the post to a higher area. Pretty simple in my opinion. I told ****** that we had the first fence for 15 years and had no problems. ****** said he would check with ****** his manager. Needless to say, I have called every week to record empty promises to getting this fixed. Now ****** who I have been in contact with ,and I believe runs the business has been lying to me for weeks. He told me that He would send ****** back out so he and could discuss face to face. Again, weeks have gone by and know one has come out to review. This company is a fraud , and really a thief since taking my $3k last fall and putting in a defective fence. Please avoid this company at all costs. Funny thing is , as I have read other reviews this seems to be a consistent problem with their lack of communicating back to customers and poor work. I will be sending a formal document to the BBB and taking them to small claims court for resolution.Review from Ch M

TERRIBLE WORK. ARGUMENTATIVE, THREATENING, and they do not stand behind their product. Their follow-up is all lip service. They flooded our basement, and no one acknowledged, offered a discount, or contacted us about the problem. While our basement was flooding, I contacted our sales rep and got a text back stating" he notified the corporate office" that was t. never heard another word about it again. The stain looks terrible, spotty, and only lasts a year. We've since had another deck company out who couldn't believe the work Deck Tech performed. They said it's the worst staining job they'd ever seen. While they were on site and I complained to them, they threatened to put a lien against our property, which happens to be a multi-unit owner-occupier condo building. I'll be posting several reviews on other sites and our text exchange and pictures of the flooding. I was not able to upload photos to this site. You've been warned! Their website is pretty, and they sound great, but that is not the service you will get from them.Deck Tech, Inc. Response

Customer requested 2 week notice to start work. On 9/14/20 our CSR called to advise of our visit to perform the wash on 9/28/20 to which the Customer accepted the appointment. Our CSR called customer again on 9/25/20 to remind them of the appointment to wash on 9/28/20, customer again accepted. We arrived onsite on 9/28/20, but we did not have access due to being a secured property. We called the customer, and after a short delay they granted us access and we proceeded to power wash. Our technician noticed the flooding, stopped the wash and we called the customer and left a voicemail letting them know there was some flooding during the wash. The next day on 9/29/20 at 9:25am the customer called back and stated he was able to get the water out but he believed the drain was clogged. Please refer to the 6th paragraph of Our Terms and Conditions included on the 3rd page of every formal proposal that statesCustomer is responsible for closing all windows and doors prior to Deck Techs commencement of work. Deck Tech is not responsible for any water infiltration through open doors or windows, faulty water seals around windows or doors, faulty spigots or plumbing inside or outside of house, cracks in caulk, mortar or other joints, or other impact closures.. Although we are not responsible, our CSR arranged to have our techs out to the property on 9/29/20 with sump pumps and had them unclog the drain. We resumed the power washing of the decks on 9/30/20. Deck was sealed on 10/2/20. Then on 10/5/2020 the customer called to inform us that the deck looked very light so we arranged for a Field Supervisor to make an onsite visit to review the work. After a few rain delays on 10/14/20 our crew was back out there to touch up any areas of concern. No lien was put it on this property and we assured the customer that no such thing would be executed.Review from Paul P

Deck Tech has done a good job multiple times on cleaning and re-staining my deck, and the price is fair. That is not the issue. The issue is how they schedule you. I am the type of person who wants to be home when a project is being done on my home. They called me on 9/13 to say they would be out the next day to clean the deck. I work on 9/14, but my wife was home so all was fine. Then I called to ask when they would be out to stain on 9/15, and they could not give a definitive answer. I explained that I wanted to be home for the staining, and they as per usual stated that they homeowner does not have to be home for this work. I then got a call back that day that they would be out on 9/16. I had a doctors appt that day so I called and canceled it so I could be home whatever time they arrived on the 16th. I called twice on the 16th, and spoke to ******* and she said I was on the schedule and their crew was out until sundown. I pushed her to confirm if they for sure would be there on the 16th, and then she called me back saying unfortunately they crew was held up at another job and would not be out. She then said they would be out on the 17th, but I work that day and my wife would not be home, and told her it would have to be the 20th, following Monday, and then I would make arrangements to be home that day. She said she could not guarantee but would call me back to confirm. I then called back at 4:02 and they were closed for the day. I did not leave a message. My gripe is that if I the homeowner wants to be home during the cleaning and staining process, that should be my right, and I am sure that scheduling can work around this request as this company has been around for awhile and built a following and like us, many repeat customers. If Deck Tech wants to truly be customer oriented, they may want to review that every customer is different, and if I want to be home, they should respect that. Reading all the negative reviews, I see that most are related to customer service and communication, so whoever the owner is of Deck Tech, they may want to look at doing things a bit differently. Or maybe business is so good, they do not feel a need, but in this day and age, good customer service (example ABT appliances) goes a long way for both repeat and referral business. I want to close in saying that they do good work and my deck has been done several times, I just wish they could be a little better in how they schedule in working with the customer. I would give them a 5 but due to this nagging issue, I have to give a 3. Thank you.Deck Tech, Inc. Response

Our CSR explained that we typically return to stain/seal the deck within 3-5 days. Unfortunately, our CSRs do not have access to the scheduled seal routes until they are confirmed and due to our services being 100% weather dependent that is typically the morning of. The customer requested to be called before the seal date because they wanted to be home. Our CSR reached out to our scheduler and explained their situation and we were able to fit the customer in to a route for the following day 9/16. Our CSR called the customer back on 9/15 at ****** and confirmed the scheduled seal visit, Customer agreed. Customer called on 9/16 at ******* to confirm he was still on schedule, our operations team checked in with our crew and confirmed the route was running as scheduled. Customer called again at ******, we were not able to contact our crew right away as they are actively working and may leave their cell phones away from the working areas. By 4pm our crew communicated the current job was taking longer than we anticipated, therefore, they may not make it to their next stop with enough daylight to complete the job. Our crews work as long as the daylight allows them, unfortunately there are times that projects take longer than expected, therefore, the last project may or may not be completed before the day is over. At 4:05pm our CSR called the customer to explain. We offered to place them back on a route for the following day 9/17 in the early morning, however, customer stated they were unavailable and told us 9/20 would work best for them. Our CSR does not schedule the jobs and cannot confirm any dates that far in advance due to our schedules being weather dependent, but she can send any requests to our scheduler, and we try to accommodate those as best as possible. According to the weather, there is a thunderstorm in the forecast for Monday 9/20 and more rain on Tuesday 9/21. At this time, we are still watching the weather and putting together routes for next week.Review from Geoffrey K

I have never, in my life, met a more unprofessional, unresponsive, poorly managed business as deck tech. Once I paid the deposit, the communication STOPPED. It was MONTHS before they came out to do the work, and once they did, it was very poor quality - so poor that the day after they painted the deck, it was chipping off to reveal the color before. Through the pressure washing process, the electrical system to my deck lost power. I was told a "supervisor" would contact me - they did not. Finally, I was able to schedule an inspection and they came out two days early with no notice, then argued with me about electrical "code". I am a business owner, and would NEVER treat my customers in the manner in which I was treated. Then, I was told "I'm not here to play games". Play games? You BROKE my electrical system and did a **** poor job painting my deck. If you're going to argue with me about code, you BET I'm going to contact my attorney. The best thing you can possibly do is to keep these idiots OFF YOUR PROPERTY. They will overcharge you for a poor quality job AT BEST, and AT WORST, they'll break what you already have.Review from Carla B.

I contracted with Deck Tech to clean and stain our deck so long as they could complete the job prior to June 21st. I called on several occasions to inquire about when to expect them to begin. I was told they would be unable to tell me the start date, so one week prior I called to cancel the job. I told the rep I expected a refund of my deposit which was nearly $1,000 and was not told that deposits are not refundable. After a couple of weeks without the refund I called again to find out that they were not going to refund my money but would apply it to a rescheduled job. I am very unhappy with this company right now, particularly since I've been a loyal customer for over 30 years. My neighbor also informed me that she hired Deck Tech to clean and stain their deck and has only received the power washing and no staining after a couple of weeks. I will never again use this company."Deck Tech, Inc. Response

******** agreed to schedule work on 5/21/2021. At the time of scheduling, customer was advised we were scheduling a minimum of 3.5 weeks out weather permitting. ******** requested that we complete the work by 6/21. ******** was advised that we would try our best but would not guarantee it. On Friday, 6/11/21 at 9:57am ******** called requesting a tentative date. On Monday 6/14/21 at 1:33pm, our customer service agent called the customer and left a message to advise of our appointment for 6/16/21. ******** returned the call that same day (6/14) at 3:53pm requesting to place the job on hold until Spring of 2022 or until further notice. Our customer service agent placed the project on **** and informed the operations team. ******** called back on 7/6/21 requesting a refund of her deposit of $888.65 and was directed to the 3rd paragraph on our Terms and ********** of which she agreed to, that states All Deposits are non-refundable. ******** became upset and stated she would be writing a negative review.Review from Dan V

After being a customer for years, I will avoid this company. Too many delays and lies with very poor customer service. Reading other customers comments, there are solid reasons why ********* scored barely above 50%. In todays competitive world, that is simply terrible.Deck Tech, Inc. Response

Upon signing the contract the customer requested to be scheduled in June due to a bird's nest near the deck. On 5/20 customer called stating the bird's nest was no longer an issue and we could schedule at any time. On 6/4 our customer service department called to notify customer was on the schedule to have the deck washed on 6/5. Unfortunately our technician was unable to complete the job due to falling ill, we called the customer to notify them of the need to reschedule for 6/7. Seal was completed on 6/14.Review from mary ann m

The worst when it comes to caring about the customer. In April we contracted, in June they finally came out to power wash (after we had to call them). They didn't show for the scheduled appointment, said they would be out the next day - no show. We have called repeatedly and when you get a "live person" they have to get back to you. We are still waiting, over 5 days, for someone to call us with a date - we have given up calling them!Deck Tech, Inc. Response
