I paid them 7200$ for an engine rebuild. First 5 minutes of releasing the car I had an engine light. Went back to check it they said come back if it comes back on. Next day again. Hearing metallic noises coming from the front, probably the engine. Never heard these noises before the day I left the car for the engine job.Lost over 20 days from work because car was not working properly. I drive for Uber full time. Checking with other mechanics what the problem is and they tell me what the problem is but Chicago Motors denied that and lied to me. They decide to fix the car. I left the car for 5 days. That is 25 days lost from work. 25x300=7500$ lost money. Now I rent a car and I am 2000$ in the hole already. Went back a week later to replace control arms, sway links. For an unexpected reason I found a tire with a wide cut, it was losing air. Replace the tires. Keep working for Uber and everything seems fine. Cooling fans broke and I am going there once again to fix the problem. I take the car and from the original repair which it took place at 185k miles now the car has 207k miles. *** started overheating. I called them they said bring it in so we can take a look. 30 minutes later I was told I am good to go. They said it could be the thermostat but they don't see nothing. 2 days later car started overheating reaching 260 called them and they said bring the car in. Take the car in and they called me 2 days later to tell me that they replaced the water pump. But keeps overheating. Found out it has blown cylinder head gasket. They asked more than 1500$. I believe the original engine repair was done from someone who hasn't had a license to perform such a job. I believe they did not change everything they supposed to change from the beginning so the car was having problems after. They didn't even replaced the separtine belt when they deliver but they change it the second time when I brought them the car back after 20 days??*** had the same belt for 100k miles.Business response

******************** had their vehicle towed to our business on February 15 2022. They stated their vehicle malfunctioned while driving the day prior and now did now start. We diagnosed the problem as a timing chain failure with damage to the cylinder head valves. We quoted the repair and the customer approved the work. Shortly after delivering the vehicle to the customer, the engine developed an irregular sound and produced a check engine light. We diagnosed it as a defective camshaft adjuster which we replaced under warranty. Approx 45 days later and several thousand miles later, the customer called complaining about a noise. He brought the vehicle in and discovered the radiator fan was broken. The customer chose to continue driving the vehicle knowing the engine could potentially overheat. We want to note the area weather at the time was extreme heat of 90+ degrees. He returned 2 days later to have the fan replaced. After picking up the vehicle, the customer called complaining of overheating. We attempted to repair it with a new water pump and thermostat assembly for good measure as there were no coolant leaks and the fans were operating normally. Unfortunately, the overheating continued and after further testing, it was found that the head gasket had been compromised. We quoted the customer for the ********************** and they declined. We can provide receipts of all parts and services used to perform the original repair.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: Originally when I brought the car in I was told the car will run for another 150k miles. ******* the day I took the car and actually a minute later I had an engine light which all of you refused to check on.!!! ******* you decided to put the car inside over a month later while the engine was not working properly. With that been said the engine started developing more problems while working improperly. You did not even changed the separtine belt which it had over 100k miles on it when rebuilding the engine. When I call for the overheating I was asked to bring the car in and that was after the cooling fans were replaced which indicates there was another problem came up at the engine. Yes I was told that a new water pump was put on but I was also told that a new water pump was put on when I took the car in the first place right after you released it and claiming that the job was done and there was no problem. I also know that you always drive test the car before releasing so you knew the engine light was there but you released it and lying to me saying that everything is perfect. A month later you released the vehicle from the shop and yet I kept calling you and say that the car does not run well, I run a diagnostic in ********** and they found the problem, I came to your store to ask you what the problem with the engine was and you said it was a sensor but when I left the shop and called you back 5 minutes later telling you what ********** found you changed your story. Is itva common practice to lie to the customers? I paid 7200$ along with thousands of dollars I left in your store that is what I was given back. A big lie. Even when you finally put the car inside to fix the problem the car was running for 10k miles already with a damaged engine and that all because of you, not because of me. I called you several times and you always pushed me back because you wanted the car's warranty to expire. But it didn't because it always had this problem. For the overheating problem...I called when the car started overheating and I was told to come in. I came in, you checked it and you said nothing is wrong with the car within 15 minutes. You did not check the water pump, just the thermostat. When the car started overheating again I called again and you guys said bring it in. You found an head gasket was blown after you replaced the water pump, which I believe you never did in the first place when you rebuild the engine, which also tells me you don't know what you are doing. Why you would go change the water pump right away? Because you knew it was never changed. You guys never changed the separtine belt. You changed it the when I brought the car back a month and more than that later. You never changed a 20$ important part. How can you convince me you changed the water pump when you rebuild the engine?By the way...when I came back to get the car while still overheating and you guys claimed to have changed the water pump...ibam asking you this...why the glovebox was open, the green envelope where I keep all my receipts and invoices, why 1 page of the 7200$ invoice was missing? Who took it and why? Who gave you permission to do that?
By the way...for your recorde I still have the invoice from ********** stating what the problem is and it was not only 1 problem.
Sincerely,
*************************************Business response

Yes, after the engine rebuild there was a problem with the intake camshaft adjuster. This was a new factory original part that was defective from manufacturing. The problem part was identified and replaced after which the engine was performing normally. We know this because vehicle was driven for thousands of miles afterwards. Also, the water pump and thermostat were replaced during the original repair. After the headgasket suffered damage from overheating, we opted to try a new water pump/thermostat assembly but that did not fix the overheating. Again, the headgasket was damaged from overheating. Not from installation or a defective part. The engine operated for thousands of miles before it was overheated from a failed cooling fan and failure of the customer to stop the engine when overheating was occurring. We always treated the customer concerns appropriately and tried to accommodate whenever possible. We were aware the customer was using the vehicle for rideshare as primary income, thus we prioritized his vehicle. If the customer is willing, we can once again try and come to an agreement and have the headgasket replaced.
