Charged me 7 overdrafts and a total 9 in the period where my debit card was hacked. I had to transfer money from a shared account during this period which is why said overdrafts were incurred. If all 9 are not resolved and refunded, our family will be leaving GLCU along with a very large savings account in the top %1 of your members.Since you clearly don't care about poor people maybe you will when your bottom line is hit.Great Lakes Credit Union Response

Hello All. Today I walked into the ********** Branch 7/8/22 around 3pm to withdraw funds from my account. The tellers at the bank were A and S. My account was locked after teller had already gotten the approval to release funds to me. Please help me resolve this issue. I advised A I received a settlement today from Statefarm for an injury. I ask A would I be able to take out funds from around $5,000-10,000, if not what ever amount would be fine. Because I know some smaller banks do not have that much. S advised A it would be no problem as long as the bank had the funds available and they got a quick approval from manager. A then went to call for the approval, which is normal process that Im already aware of. She got the approval for $***** and advised I come back tomorrow for the other funds. I told A and S no the 5 or ***** would be fine, no need for the 10 at the moment. Then A called another person and I asked her what was going on. She stated oh Im calling to see if I can get you approved for the 10k. I said for what? I just told you the 6 was fine. So then the second person she Spoke with told **** to ask me what do I need the money for? And why do I want cash? And if I can just take a check and if I can give her proof my deposit came from statefarm? I said Im not giving you my medical settlement documents, is that even legal? Please show me proof thats policy. She said they dont have that. But I STILL showed A my statefarm documents. I then advised A I have been out of work due to injury that is why statefarm has paid me out and I need to pay bills. But either way I dont need to give any reason as to why I want to withdraw my money. Also told her why would I want a check if the purpose of having a bank account is to withdraw funds. Mind you at this point I seen So many other Caucasian individuals were withdrawing thousands but I couldnt a woman of color. Long story short, they froze my account. And here I am no funds and no update.Review from Stan B

I've been using this credit union for about 20 yrs now. I have never had any problems what so ever. The employees are helpful and friendly, their fraud prevention is very pro-active and contact me anytime any transaction seems questionable. I've been very pleased with their services. I intend to stay with them unless I encounter a major reason to change. Chase Bank tellers let someone withdraw $4000 from my friend's account without asking for a ID and there were no alerts when they did it a second time. They just posted that they were hacked in 2014 and in December 2020 left customer acct information exposed. My friend is out $10,000 right now. So I have to say all things considered, GLCU has a much better fraud prevention. They call or text anytime there's a transaction that's the least bit suspicious and lock my account until I verify if it's mine or not.
