Aftermath **** was fraudulent, negligent, price gouging, incompetent and breached our contract in certifying that all biohazard dead body fluids were removed, but instead they covered over the biohazard body fluids leaving a terrible death stench and a fly and maggot infestation damaging 6 other condos and a hallway. Aftermath price gouged by charging $36,733.50 taking 3 WEEKS to NOT REMOVE all the body fluids when **************, COMPLETELY REMOVED ALL THE ****HAZARD FLUIDS IN 1 DAY FOR LESS THAN HALF THAT PRICE! This depleted the insurance of needed funds to restore the condo because Bio-One had to redo the job.Aftermath fraudulently claimed to be a full bio hazard removal company but they do not remove flooring necessary to remove seeping bio-hazard body fluids in flooring. They breached our contract by not informing us another company was needed & did not test the surfaces as promised. This violates their own principles as Aftermath's co-founder said, "There is no other way to clean the damage but to remove all affected materials...if tiles are simply wiped down, the remaining bio matter can spread disease, release odors and further damage property."Aftermath was incompetent because they didnt even know the ***** of ***************** or OSHA regulations for removing flooring & ceiling drywall and falsely accused ************** of violating these regulations. Aftermath was negligent in not removing all the body fluids that obviously seeped down into the bare cement cracks that the body laid on undiscovered for over 2 1/2 weeks. Aftermath offered an unfavorable settlement because it wasnt enough to restore the condo and pay for damages they caused. We are asking Aftermath, **********************************************************************, to pay for damages to *************************************************************** due to their negligence, to 6 other condos of $5605.05, a hallway of $2550, and repairs to completely restore unit 5 of $4500, totaling $12,655.05.

Aftermath was recommended by the coroner to use after the death of my father. After coming out and wanting to charge me $8000 to clean an 800 sq ft apartment, the workers made a few calls and decided they could do the job for $1700. this was paid out of pocket by me (his daughter). His apartment is still not accessible due to an incomplete job, and I have another company coming out this week to hopefully do a better job for an additional $400. I just don't want anyone else to have to deal with this sort of service and added stress on top of dealing with an unexpected death.

      Dear **********************,
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate your understanding and giving us the opportunity to address the issue promptly. As discussed, our team revisited the site on 6/21 to rectify the service concerns. The floor was rescrubbed and then sealed to your satisfaction. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Should you have any further questions or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly.

      Thank you,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However the only reason Im accepting this is because they did come back out and did what they said they would do. But they showed up an hour late. When I called to inquire where they were I got the excuse they were stuck in traffic. And was told he would just  have them turn around if it wasnt acceptable for them to be that late. I question how they can charge me $1700 to scrub and seal a 2x3 ft area. And was also told that I would receive a follow up from ***** and have yet to hear anything. This business continues to disappoint, and I still question everything about this business and how they handle operations.

      Sincerely,

      *********************************

I would like to file a complaint about Aftermath Services ***************************************************************** . On Feb 20, ********************************* my house where my husband had passed away (my husband was alone in the house and his body was not discovered till Feb 15, 2023). As part of their cleaning, they damaged the floor and one of the floor boards was warped and this was far from where the body had been found. This damage to the floor was noted in the invoice / job number 2301874 of $4683.16 which I paid on Feb 20, 2023. It is now 4 weeks since then and despite my multiple calls to them, they have not agreed to either repair the damage or refund me part of the money I paid. They are refusing to take responsibility for the damage, saying the damage was already present. If the damage was already present, they should have pointed it out. Further, this house is a new construction by **** Brothers and we purchased it in June 2022. This type of damage is not present anywhere else in the house so it stands to reason that their cleaning resulted in the damage. When we looked at the photos they took while they were cleaning, there was a photo showing them cleaning exactly where we later noted the damage.I am looking to quickly sell the house so I need to repair this damage ASAP. I may have to get the repair done myself as I wait on a monetary resolution.

My daughter unexpectedly passed away in December 2022. I retained the biohazard clean-up services of Aftermath for my daughter's condo in January 2023. I was not completely pleased with the service, and I feel that the tragedy suffered by my family and my overwhelming grief of losing a child was taken advantage of by this company. I was not strong enough emotionally to go into the master bedroom (scene of my daughter's death) and so I was unaware that there was a biohazard of several weeks old urine in the toilet in the master bathroom. They never made me aware of this, and even though they were in biohazard gear, they did not flush or clean the toilet. I also thought that they would have cleaned up more of the mess in the kitchen. Since there was no applicable insurance policy for my daughter's condo that I was aware of, I was told that I needed to make a full payment to Aftermath regarding their fee of $5,262.36. I told them I could not afford to make that huge payment so I made my first payment of $1,313.91 on January 19, 2023. The balance was to be paid once a month in payments of $656.95. They insisted that I enter into a bank draft arrangement rather than I send them a check every month. I signed the appropriate form for them to debit my bank account the amount of $656.95 ONCE PER MONTH until the balance was paid. However, in February 2023, Aftermath debited my account TWICE. My account was debited $656.95 on February 17 and then $656.95 on February 22 (without my knowledge or consent). I contacted Aftermath via e-mail on February 22 and advised them of the overcharge. On February 23, I received e-mails from ********************* and *********************. ********************* replied in a February 23 e-mail that the funds would be back in my account within the next 24 to 48 hours (of February 23). It is now the afternoon of March 1, and the funds have not yet been put back into my account. I requested the documents and tracking number of the fund transfer but have not received same.

      Hi *****,

We apologize for the inconvenience and delayed response. We processed the refund on 2/23 as **** indicated. However, it looks like the refund is still pending, which could be a result of a credit card processor error or your bank is blocking the refund. Regardless, we are happy to send a refund check to you and ***** it overnight. ******************************* has contacted you, please let him know directly if the solution is acceptable. His contact is ************************************** **************. Again, we apologize for this inconvenience.

We had a family member die in their home and were found several weeks later. The home was in really bad shape. We needed help to mitigate the scene. I came across Aftermath on ******* At first my contact person **** seemed very understanding and apathetic. Once the contract was signed that all changed. We were quoted 25k for the whole biohome package and was told they would do all the work with homeowners insurance. We were also told that when they were finished we would not know someone died in the house. My son and Brother in law did the tear out of rugs, furniture and belongings. So the majority of heavy work was done. We left the bad room where the incident occurred. Aftermath removed the rug in the one bedroom and part of the sub floor. They did a fast wipe down of the rest of the house. At walk through we noticed a large area of body fluid stain remained on the floor in the bedroom. There were fly ecsriment all over the sky light windows and doors. When we brought this to their attention they refused to speak with my Son who was helping coordinate the clean up. They then had a representative ******* call me and sent out another worker to correct the mess. He didn't bring tools or a ladder. He was then called off the job in 3 hours. I was then contacted for payment. I told them the house is not done. It still was smelly with fly ecsriment and body fluid. They threatened me with legal action even though they are in breach of contract. It is my opinion they are taking advantage of an elderly man during his time of grief. They tried to lower the price to 19k in hopes we would go away. They did not perform the service we signed up for and are stuck with a house we can't sell. They still expect payment for a service they did not complete.

I am rejecting this response because:

I am currently out of town and will be unable to verify if the issue is resolved until the first or second week of July. Please keep my complaint active until I have had adequate time to review the work being done. The site will need a proper walk through and verification to see if the work is done up to the standards promised.

A distant family member died leaving only a minor daughter, who didn't find him until 2 days later. Obviously someone had to step in for the kid and hire a clean up, and unfortunately it was me. The company quoted $7k cash or go thru home owners insurance. They submitted the claim to the deceased's insurance company (not mine) that was $15k - more than double of what they said it will cost in cash. How this is legal I don't know. Then the harassment started with daily calls and emails. I did everything I possibly can to get the insurance company pay, and then void the payment (ins paid the deceased, and there was no estate set up yet), and then reissue the payment to Aftermath. All that while on disability due to injury barely moving and not being able to work.Even after all that because the insurance paid $14k (which is double of their cash quote!) they came after me personally for the balance, and sent me to collections without any warning. There is no money in the estate, taxes and attorneys have not been paid so I can't even ask them. And I have no money to pay it as I live paycheck to paycheck.

      Dear **************,

Thank you for voicing your concerns regarding your invoice. It appears there may be a misunderstanding regarding our pricing. Initially, we offered a substantial discount by qualifying your family for financial hardship assistance. When it was identified your insurance was a viable source for payment of services, we collectively decided to pursue this option and reduce the final out-of-pocket obligation to only your deductible. We sent our normal invoice to insurance and worked with them to reach a settlement in December, 2021. Upon learning your financial circumstances, we absorbed your deductible to not cause any further hardship to your family.

We apologize for the misunderstanding and for your frustrations. We hope this clears up your concerns. We take pride in the empathy and compassion we show our customers. If you have any questions, or would like to discuss further, please reach out to us directly.

      Thank you,
