Installed New Roof on August 4th, 2022. There was an ice storm followed by heavy winds on February22nd, 2023. Shingles blew off. Company refuses to come out and look at it and fix it. Company is basing their reasoning off a picture that was taken 6 ft away off a cellphone camera that we took.Business response

Davis Roofing and Construction has not refused to return to Mr.********** house in ********, ** to repair the damaged shingles on his roof. We simply told ********************** that the damage on his roof was caused by animals and is not covered by a manufacturer or labor guarantee. ********************** sent us photos of the areas and you can clearly see claw or bite marks on the wall flashings and the wood trim. The shingle damage is not consistent with wind damage. The damage is on the east side of the roof right next to an evergreen **** which the animals used to access this area. We would be more than happy to repair the damage caused by these animals but as this is not a warranty issue there must be a service charge to do the work. We spoke with ************************** and indicated once we receive an authorized form to complete the repair work we will dispatch a serviceman.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. We did not accept the proposal sent by Davis Roofing and Construction. We returned the proposal without signing but indicated a N/A and attached a letter with our concerns. Davis Roofing and Construction dispatched workers to our home without our knowledge and repaired the roof. We appreciate Davis Roofing and Construction for standing behind their work.
Sincerely,

Davis Roofing & Construction installed a new roof on our house in July 2021. In late September, we noticed an attic fan that was part of the installation was running non-stop, even as the weather cooled. We tracked it for three weeks in October before calling Davis on Oct. 25 to express concern about the fan not functioning properly. The person I spoke with (I did not get his name) gave me several reasons why the fan could be running constantly - from improper venting in the attic (when at the time of the new roof install, I was told that it was sufficient) to the fan "being made in China." The person said he would have someone come to my house to look at it in two days, which I agreed to.No one showed up or contacted me, so after a week I made a follow up call on Nov. 2 to inquire about the issue. The woman I talked to was more empathetic to my concern and said she would have someone call me back as soon as possible. I agreed to that, but no one has contacted me since then.I should add that, in the past week with the weather getting even cooler, the fan does not run constantly, but kicks on regularly sometime in the middle of the night and runs until mid-morning, which is still not proper.Business response

Davis Roofing & Construction provided a new power fan for **************** and only installed the shingles around the base of the fan. In our roofing contract the power fan line item reads that wiring is not included. We also do not warranty any electrical components.
After inspecting Mr. ******* soffit, attic, furnace, and humidifier (which is attached to the furnace), we discovered why the fan was constantly running. The new fan continued to run due to the fact that there is not enough cold air intake from the soffit, the attic insulation level is well beneath current building code, and there is a large gap in the attic access hatch which was allowing warm moist air into the attic from the hallway below. We also discovered that the furnace humidifier was set at 35% which was pumping warm humidity throughout the house. All of these combined factors caused the fans humidistat to turn on when the furnace was running at night or when it was raining due to the high moisture level in the attic. There are more than enough roof vents to satisfy the building code and the fan is connected properly. The fans humidity setting had been in the normal range but is now set at off due to the issues discovered previously
Davis Roofing and Construction reached out to **************** after the recent cold spell and he was satisfied with the explanation of the problem and the solution. After turning off the humidistat on the fan it is not running at night or during rains. *** from Davis Roofing spoke to **************** on the first phone call in regards to this power fan and *** explained to him that it was not our responsibility to climb in the attic to adjust the fans humidity settings. Interior humidity combined with cooler outside temperatures will most likely always be the reason for attic fans with humidity settings to run more than usual. The roofing project Davis Roofing &Construction performed at Mr. ******* residence was installed properly, did not leak, and is still under a workmanship and manufacturer warranty. This was never a warranty issue however Davis Roofing & Construction still returned to help troubleshoot and resolve this matter.Customer response
