Purchased a very expensive vehicle from dealer less than 3 weeks ago and the vehicle has extensive undisclosed mechanical damage. ($17k)Business response

We have spoken to the buyers relatives, and asked them to get the car to our mechanics to look at. So far they have not done so.Customer response

This is not accurate. We visited with the mechanic the same day we were instructed to do so. Mechanic indicated vehicle should not ve driven.

The car was delivered to the Mechanic on 08/10/22 we are having the car inspected. It should be noted that the car was delivered after being purchased with a pre purchase inspection when WE bought it, and by agreeing to look at the vehicle we in no way are accepting responsibility for repairs. The car was sold as is, a warranty was offered at time of sale and was declined by purchaser. We suspect the car was raced and damaged. The complaint was filed a full week before the car was towed to ************. This raises questions of good faith on the part of the buyer. I can provide an inspection proof and proof what day the car was dropped of at the mechanic.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
First I would like to sincerely thank Liberty for their reply as previous attempts to communicate have been met with either silence or aggression.To address the response: I was not aware that the vehicle had an inspection when Liberty purchased it. Liberty has never mentioned that and it is very intriguing. In fact, we were advised by both their mechanic and the mechanic we selected that it appears the vehicle is a victim of long standing neglect and failure of maintenance. I would like to respectfully request a copy of that inspection. Liberty indicates the vehicle was not delivered to their requested mechanic until 8/10/2022. This is correct. However, the day we were referred to the mechanic we went to speak to the mechanic within moments of that referral. The mechanic advised us that the vehicle should not be driven, and should be towed to the shop. We requested for Liberty to have the vehicle towed utilizing their resources as my financial stability has been severely impacted by this contract. This request was ignored via email, and when I called- enlisting the help of a family member we were yelled at and hung up on 4 times. It is out of sheer desperation I had the vehicle towed at my expense. As a young 20 year old man, just relocating to ***** without parental support I am in financial ruin because of this issue. While Liberty requested the vehicle be inspected by the mechanic of their choosing, and we delivered the vehicle as requested, we are in no way accepting responsibility for the repairs. While it is understood the vehicle was sold as is, the sales person represented the vehicle as in good condition, and the damage is so obvious and significant that the dealer knew or should have known of the problems, in particular if the vehicle was inspected as Liberty asserts it was in this rebuttal. The dealer represented there was no such problems. The vehicle was sold without a catalytic converter which is illegal in the state of *****. Liberty asserts they suspect the vehicle was raced and damaged. I would like to understand when this suspicion was realized as it was not disclosed at time of sale or at any time during this process until now. This vehicle has not been operational generally since purchase date.Liberty Motors has been aggressive, intimidating and extraordinarily difficult to discuss this matter with. While I respect they are running a business the vehicle they sold me was in unacceptable condition. I would love to work toward a resolution together. I feel because of my age, and potentially my ethnicity, they will not discuss this matter in good faith. I have read numerous online and social media ratings and posts that seem to identify the predatory sales practices of Liberty Motors as a way of doing business rather than a one off situation. I remain concerned and prepared to discuss this matter in a non-hostile way at first request.Kind Regards,***********************Business response

The vehicle simply had a thermostat that needed replaced it ending up costing ****** Dollars, not ***** or ***** that the franchise dealer wanted to charge. This is a perfect example of why we only trust our mechanics. A thermostat can go out at any time and would not show up on any inspection, as long as its working at the time it is inspected. As far as I know my mechanic says everyone was happy. I hope they will amend or take down their complaint. It was a simple and cheap maintenance issue.
