Business was suggested as a preferred vendor of Nationwide home owners insurance to repair a 4/4/23 hail damaged roof and gutters. Total estimate was for over $29,000. I paid a $1000 deductible. During the repair which was completed on 5/5/23, businesses employees or sub-contractors broke an east facing 48" x 36" picture window, as well as damaged an adjacent screen. The window damage was directly beneath the ladder of workers removing roof and gutter, and installing replacement gutters. Contractor has been repeatedly contacted via email and phone on this matter, the 1st time the week of 5/8/23. The 5th time, 9/13/23 at 2:51 pm. He has never responded. Insurance agent is upset at insurance company for not assisting. ***************** tells me it's between me and the contractor and will do nothing - yet the insurance company representative told me she was friends with the contractor and his wife. In addition, during the process contractor replaced a vent cap. When vent cap was removed, contractor discovered he didn't have the right parts to complete the replacement, so he simply left the venting open for two days instead of appropriately replacing or covering exposed venting. Of course, birds entered the venting system. When contractor returned, he capped the vent, trapping animals inside. They of course they died, filling the house with the smell of decomposing flesh. When contacted, the contractor simply said it was not his responsibility, even though he clearly caused the issue with inappropriate handling of the vent cap replacement. To fix the issue, the venting had to be torn apart in the attic, as well as a bathroom fan inside the house. I have paid $871 to replace the window. $35 to replace the screen. And $550 to hire another contractor to find and dispose of rotting animals, then repair internal vent work. This is over $1,450, in addition to the $1,000 deductible. I would like reimbursed for $1,456 in damages contractor caused.
