On 08/31/2023, we took our vehicle, a ******************* to have a power steering line replaced. LeClaire Auto replaced the line and replaced and charged for the serpintine belt without first notifying myself or my wife for authorization to do so. Upon retrieving the vehicle, we noticed that the line that was replaced was leaking. LeClaire Auto was notified and the car was taken back in to have the leak fixed on 09/08/2023. We were told that the line was fixed, but upon getting the car back, it was found that the line was still leaking. I was able to look into the matter myself, and found that the line was improperly installed. I was able to reinstall the line to the power steering pump which resolved the leak. My wife lost work hours due to not being able to safely drive the car.Business response

******************* had an appointment on August 31st, in need of help fixing a power steering line (customer provided parts) after he had tried to install a new power steering pump himself. We installed/fixed the line and also realized that coolant was on the serpentine belt and it needed to be replaced. When the family picked up the car, I told them that we had replaced the serpentine belt and they seem to understand the belt could have had coolant on it. They then called back because the power steering line was leaking, we got them in on September 8th and did see the line was not tight enough, we tightened the line at no charge to them, we never replaced the line, we used the customers parts. LeClaire Auto Service did not start this process of replacing the power steering pump/line, we tried to help them out at the lowest to the customer. We were never told the line was still leaking, we stand behind our work and would have tried to resolve the problem with them. I have since called and left a message on ****'s voicemail, have not heard back yet.
