I did have scheduling issues with this job, my fault. I ended up finding the leak , went to get parts and made repair ( Fixed there water leak and restored there water )

Had emergency call had to leave job, I told them i would be back the next day to back fill which I did an cleaned up as usual. Received text that they were still having leak , stopped by 2 days later. They backflow preventer by the meter was dripping out of the relief  valve which happens when one of the check valves gets debris in it. Although I did dig around the device to see the direction of the water main I never took it apart at all, just turned valve off to work on system.

      Received payment.

I scheduled an appointment with this plumber to run a camera down my toilet line, in order to confirm that I didn't have a blockage within my unit (condo). This is a vacation home for me, so I was not present during the appointment. This guy/also the owner of this company performed additional unauthorized work & is now attempting to charge me $1,100 for inspection work. When I received his invoice, this was the 1st time he revealed any of his pricing to me, and the first time that I was made aware of additional work, that he claims to have performed, without my authorization. I attempted to resolve this matter with him stating that I would pay for the Camera/Video inspection ($468), Service Fee ($59.50), 3% credit card processing fee ($15.83), and Sales tax ($25.60) in order to get this matter settled (total of $568.93), but he rejected this offer and left a nasty message stating "that this isn't the price is right, & I needed to pay my freakin bill or he would send it to collections".

Thank you for the review. I arrived at the unit, there was extensive water damage that came from upstairs bathroom. The water leaked down into the kitchen area and collapsed the kitchen ceiling. the bathroom in question is directly above the kitchen. I was in contact with owner throughout the process. First checked function of toilet before video camera line. Flushed three times and everything worked properly. Pulled toilet and provided customer with video inspection via text. The line was clear all the way down to the common area drain pipes , no obstructions. I reported what I saw, weather it is favorable to the client or not. I noted this info on invoice also. I tried to explain that if there was a main line stoppage in the common line everyone on the first floor would get flooded out first before it would travel up to the second floor. ( which is highly unlikely )
While we were on the phone customer stated tub was drain very slow. I explained the tub drain is very small and would try to snake drain to improve drainage ( camera would not fit ). Cable came back with debris on it. Tested and water came pouring out of ceiling. As I stated earlier the whole ceiling was already collapsed prior to me getting there. So I climbed up into the ceiling cavity and exposed the tub trap which was totally rotted out. It had a puka ( hole ) on the bottom of the trap. In my professional opinion the tub is the source of water damage. I have dealt with many Ins companies over the years , generally when they are involved I receive a call directly from the Insurance company an answer questions about the video clip I sent the customer.  Water damage is a big deal. Talking with owner he feels toilet was the problem. All I can say is toilet was working properly when I was there .  Stephen B****** Owner/Operator

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

This complaint has never been about me receiving news that I didn't want to hear, but quite the opposite. I hired this plumber at the request of my Insurance Company & local HOA. They advised me that I needed to have a camera ran down my drain line as a next step to confirm that there was no blockage within the line in my unit. Again, I ONLY hired this plumber to complete a camera/video line inspection and no other work was authorized. When I initially scheduled my appointment with this plumber, I shared with him that I had intermittent drainage issues with my tub previously & asked if the two (toilet drainage issue & tub drainage issue) could be related. He informed me that the two lines do connect into one further down, so if there was some type of blockage further down the line, it could impact both the toilet & tub drainage.

When he was at the property the day of the appointment, he called & shared the camera video with me, and informed me that everything was clear all the way down to the common drain line for the complex. At that time, I asked him if this was also true for the tub, & he then informed me that the camera was too large to run down the tub line. I told him that was fine and understood that his work was complete. Again, I did not give him any instruction or permission to perform any other work at this point. Based on the detail within his invoice, he continued to perform unauthorized work to the extent of another $477.50.

I offered to try and resolve this dispute by paying him for the scheduled & authorized service work only (camera/video drain inspection), which came to a total of $568.93 (itemized this out in an email that I sent him), but he refused, and left me a voicemail stating that this is not the Price is Right, and that I needed to pay the entire balance, or he would send me to collections. I asked him for a complete inspection report, when I last spoke with him, and at that time, he informed me that he did not provide formal inspection reports, since he was not used to working with insurance companies (I see that he now states the opposite in his response). This plumber does not listen well. He called me a 2nd time, later in the day, and informed me that my tub trap was corroded and needed to be replaced. At that time, I told him that I already knew that, since it came back on my inspection report, when I bought the place in September of 2020, and was planning to replace it, when I completed my bathroom renovation work. When I scheduled the appointment, and also while he was on site, I informed him that my on site person, who discovered my water damage, told me that the toilet tank was overflowing, which caused water to then go everywhere. While he was on site, he told me that the overflow line in the toilet tank was in place with a tie, and didn't know why the water wouldn't have gone down the emergency overflow line. He told me then, that he thought the tub line was responsible for the damage, and I informed him that it was not possible, since the tub did not have any water in it, and there was no one living in the unit (no one had been there for the past 4 months). I was not aware of any of the unauthorized work that he performed, until I received his invoice. On his invoice, he stated that he cut a hole in the kitchen ceiling, which I would have never authorized, since I already knew that the tub trap needed to be replaced at some point, plus my insurance company was waiting for an asbestos test to come back before they could proceed any further, so no drywall could be cut into, until such time they had the test results back.

This plumber took advantage of the fact that this is a vacation home for me, and I was not on site when he was there, so he decided to perform additional work, that was never authorized. I truly want to get this settled, but I will not pay for work/services that the plumber never discussed with me, and that I did not hire him to perform.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *******
