I bought. A vehicle from this company. Put down $2500 in down payment for a loan of $1450. Signed paperwork. Drove off the lot. 2 weeks later the business said they did not receive my bank statements. After speaking with the car sales lady : ***, she was incredibly rude. I sent in the bank statements again to the bank. They received them. *** canceled the deal. Told me I would have to return the vehicle. When I gladly went to return it, she refused to give me my deposit back. *** been asking to speak to a manager, a manager will not call me. She is threatening me with a police report and refuses to return my money or give me the number of her boss. How can I find the name and phone number to the owner of star auto ****** so I can return their vehicle and get my money back? They are a scam company, I read other bbb reviews saying the same thing. That she stole their deposit and did not finalize the deal. Im appalled at the lack of customer service and out right theft this ********************** is committing.Business Response
Date: 01/17/2024
Please see attached the return deal letter from the finance company and the reason why it was being returned. It was not my decision to return the deal, it was the finance companies decision due to lack of documents that the customer stated she had sent to the finance company. Apparently they did not receive it and that is the reason why I kept asking the customer for it. She also had the vehicle for over a month before even making an attempt to return it. I also asked her to bring the statement in with her so we could just resign the contract and get it resubmitted to the finance company. This statement was the only thing holding her deal back from being finalized. Then when we scheduled for her to come in she comes in demanding her money back. But she had the vehicle for little over a month.
Thanks

I am rejecting this response because:
As you can see with the paper work submitted on star autos behalf, nothing they have said lines up.
I had the vehicle in my possession for two weeks before the representative even contacted me about an issue. She said that they did not have all of my bank statements. The paperwork she submitted proves they had my bank statements.
over the next two weeks I interacted with the bank and again sent in my bank statements. They told me that was all they needed and that the deal was still valid on 12/29. When the dealership said they wanted my bank statements again on 1/6 I realized I was being scammed and at this point all the interaction with the dealership was so unprofessional I decided to return the vehicle as *** had said I could. I made an appointment to return the vehicle and when I drove to the dealership with my 3 kids under the age of 3 which is when she refused to return my deposit that was supposed to be the base of my deal with the bank. She was rude to me, told me it seemed I was hiding something. Told me I was making the transaction stressful and extremely rude.
when she refused to return the money I told her I would be leaving with the vehicle that had been signed over to me in good faith And that she was using my personal information to finalize a deal for. I asked to have a manager call me and asked for a managers name and phone number. She refused all of my attempt to resolve the return of this vehicle.
moved the last 9 days I have attempted to call the dealership so I can return the vehicle and get my deposit returned. A manager will not respond. *** continues to harass me through text messages despite my asking her not yo contact me. They sent a tow truck driver yo my house yo steal the vehicle. I have been told they will only give me $1000 back which I will not agree to.
I will not accept anything less than my $2500 returned and then I will return the vehicle.
again, star auto had all of my information and did not file it correctly or communicate effectively to finalize the deal. This has been a scam to steal my deposit from the beginning.
I have asked for an appointment with a manager to resolve this in person and they will not connect me to a legitimate managerAll I want is my $2500 returned so I can return the vehicle and be done with this business
the vehicle is not being used it is sitting and waiting to be returned
Sincerely,

These are the text messages being told I would have to return the car and me confirming I would return it.
11/29 signed paperwork to purchase 2014 ***** Suburban ,gave $2500 cash to Star Auto. Drive off the lot with registration signed over to me12/14 received a text message from star auto representative, **** that I needed to send in my bank statements again because she never received them.
12/15 emailed the bank statement to star auto for the second time.
12/17 offered a cash deal to finalize, offer not accepted.
Was told it would be easier if I just resent the bank statement.
12/21 talked to CPS (the bank) and verified my bank information.
12/26 I was told by star auto that the deal was returned12/27 talked to CPS they verified that they had my bank statements and told me the deal was still working.
12/28 *** text me I would need to return the vehicle if I did not give her the bank statements. And I told me I was making this a stressful transaction.
1/2 I asked for a better deal on the car and offered cash again. Cash deal was denied.
1/8 I told her I would return the vehicle.
1/9 I went to return the vehicle and I was refused my deposit returnedI tried to call a manager and a manager would not return my call
i parked the vehicle to wait for a response from a manager so I can receive my $2500 back and have the vehicle picked up
1/10 I was threatened by a tow truck driver.
1/11 I was told they would only return $1000 to me. I refused. Again asking for a manager.
1/17 *** threatened to make a false police report stating that I stole the vehicle
1/12-1/18 no manager will return my call or my money1/17 BBB contacted

So, I have already attached the banks return letter with number 1 being they did not receive the ************ statement. This is the bank statement that have been trying to get from ****** since December 14 when the bank reached out to me needing it. ****** expressed to me that she sent it to the bank, but the bank apparently did not receive it. I have reached out to her letting her know she needs to drop the vehicle off to the dealership and she will get her money back. She then tells me that she does not want to deal with me, and I expressed that I would need to be the one she deals with cause it's my job to deal with it. I also did express that I will report it stolen cause legally that car belongs to Star Auto. The title is in Star Autos name. The registration is a temporary registration that all customers get so we may do the transfer of the title when the deal gets finalized. But here we are no deal finalized and ****** still with Star Autos vehicle.
Thanks

I am rejecting this response because:
Once again, I turned in all of my bank statements multiple times to Star Auto.
I was told by Star auto staff member **** that she would only refund me $1000 of my $2500 deposit I gave them. I will not accept that as I did my due diligence to turn everything in. I have asked in every way possible to talk to the corporate manager and nobody will return my call or set up a meeting with me.
I attempted to return the vehicle on 1/9 and I was told by *** that she would not return my deposit. She then made several rude remarks to me and argued with me. This is when I left. Obviously the car is not stolen, since she gave me the keys, therefore reporting it stolen is a false report. I have again, tried to contact a manager to help me with this issue as *** clearly will not.
again, I just want my deposit returned in full so that I can return their veg and be done with this unprofessional company. I gave my money to **** at Star Auto, in good faith that I had signed the paperwork and just bought a vehicle, and now I do not own it because the paperwork was not done correctly or finalized.

My daughter bought her 2012 ***************** from Star Auto (I am co-signer). With the warranty we paid a little over *****. She bought the car and a warranty. After 3 weeks of having her car she started to lose acceleration. She took it in the the *** repair facility because Star Auto said the they don't fix cars. We found out that her new/used car needs $6000 in repairs. We contacted the warranty company, but they have told us that not all of the repairs would be covered. In the mean time she can't work and she has to Uber to school. So, she has no money coming and more money going out. When I call Star Auto to get any answers I just get told "we can't promise you anything" or "I will look into it." They never call back and seem to know nothing of how a business works. We are looking for compensation on loss of wages and Uber reimbursement. They took advantage of an 18 year old and sold her a car with multiple issues. They are full of ******** am surprised that they are still able to sell carsBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because: we no longer need a loaner and the primary (my daughter) had told Star Auto that. We would like them to cover the costs that we had to pay out of pocket for their negligence. We accrued a **** dollar amount from there lack of diligence making sure the car was sold in an acceptable condition. As the co-signer I would like to be called or informed on the next steps. If this is not resolved then I will need to *** your company for negligence and the **** we need to cover the costs.

I am rejecting this response because: the loaner was discussed multiple weeks after the initial call to your dealership about the car needing repairs. Never the less without the loaner and the fact that you think you sell good cars, you put a car on your lot that was not ready for sale and we have a **** dollar bill that says it was not ready. Please just reimburse me the **** dollars that we had to pay out of pocket and I will be done with your company. Instead of focusing and putting the blame on others please take responsibility that there was a mistake and fix it.

I have responded to this complaint multiple times and apparently the customer rejects our response we reached out to let her know that there was a loaner available for the customer to use. The customer unfortunately did not come to pick up the loaner when it was offered and we reached out about her picking it up and got no response back. I am unsure what refund she is wanting. Is it for the loss of wages and uber rides or the repairs? I have heard multiple numbers from the customer and now it is at a ******* refund? What is the ******* refund for?

I am rejecting this response because: As stated in my last message the **** dollars is the amount we had to pay out if pocket for the repairs to the car. I no longer care about the Uber fees or loss of wages. I would just **** what we had to pay for out of pocket to fix the car. I don't know why the company is still so hung up about the loaner car when it was offered a day before she got her car back. (It was in the repair shop for about a month). I would like to be done with your company as this has caused emotional distress.

I would like to say that I stand by our vehicles and our mechanics. Thats why we had the customer test drive the vehicle, there were no issues with this vehicle. Unfortunately, things do happen with used cars if not treated properly when using it. Wear and tear things do happen and when we are least expected. Does that mean that when a person's car breaks down, we need to pay their bill? Then we would be out of busy. Like I said before I stand behind the quality of our vehicles and feel that we shouldn't have to reimburse for repair costs. I would like to know how the customer can reject our response and there is no outcome for us. Do we just go back and forth?

To whom it may concern, I am writing this because this car buying experience has been a big disappointment. As of June 14th 2023, I inquired on a 2013 dodge charger, after returning a missed call in the morning and leaving a message to someone who I had spoke with on the phone, I never received a phone call afterwards and so I contacted the next day sometime in the the early afternoon, I spoke with *** at ********* site, after exchanging my information to see which bank would approve my loan, I have been continuously reaching out to *** at ********* site asking for follow *** on my application. These people are nothing but crooks. I bought a VW GTI from them and the sales person pushed a warranty on me which cost over $3,000. When I called the warranty place to activate the warranty I had a couple concerns. When I bought the car it had a modified exhaust system they call it a straight pipe exhaust and I had no clue what that meant so I took it to an exhaust expert they put it up on the rack and told me that my car had no muffler, no resonator and no catalytic converter and a h*** of a big straight pipe running from the turbo to the tail pipe. I explained to the *************** what modifications were on the car and they told me why did I buy a warranty cause basically nothing will be covered under the warranty. I contacted Star Auto and they told me to contact the warranty place abd this went back and forth for awhile. Went down 3 times to Star Auto and kept getting the run around. Finally they had me fill out some forms to get my money back ... this was six months ago. Now they refuse to answer my email or return phone calls. Don't do business with these fools they are crooks. They haven't heard the last of me I'm in the process of obtaining help from some professionals to get back my money and more just for the headache and stress they caused me. Selling a car to me with no muffler and catalytic converter sure sounds kinda illegal and then a bogus warranty on top of that!! These people are crooks!Business Response

We purchased a 2008 Jeep Wrangler from ******* Star Auto on August 29th in As Is condition, no warranty was offered, but the salesperson ******* salesperson told us we had a WEEK to return if it doesnt satisfy our needs. (Nothing in writing). Took the vehicle to an Alignment shop and found out the steering box was leaking badly, and the entire front-end suspension needed to be replaced. On September 5th we took the Jeep back to ******* and explained the issues. My husband tried to negotiate with us to trade in the 2008 Jeep for another Jeep they had on the lot, but the ********* location refused the deal. We were offered 2 situations about the 2008 Jeep: 1)Turn in the Jeep and Star Auto will fix it and return it to us. 2) Turn in Jeep and Star Auto will forgive the loan. (Option we chose since I needed a vehicle to drive now).5. Sept 6th USAA provided vehicle payoff documentation, which we emailed to ************************************* (INCLUDED IN THE EMAILappreciate you taking the vehicle back and agreeing to payback the loan.), called ******* location and provided them the 2008 Jeep Loan number. **We were advised that STAR AUTO SENT THE CHECK TO USAA. Weeks go by and our bank never receives the money. I wrote ************************************* asking them to follow up with me about the check. No response. Finally, Oct 11 I get ahold of Star Auto ********* and was rudely informed by manager *** they called our bank and since they do not have a 30 day return policy they are not paying off the loan. My husband went in and talked to ******* location and on the Phone with ********* manager *** and was advised ********* location would have a meeting about the situation and get back with us....all while our Jeep we are still paying for sits on their ********* location and they have made not one single effort to contact us despite me sending multiple emails and us calling repeatedly. I made formal complaints with FTC and ****** **** and we are now trying to contact to get our Jeep.Customer Answer

To update my complaint against Star Auto.
The leinholder bank notified us that they have yet to receive the title for the 2008 Jeep Wrangler we purchased from Star Auto at the end of August 2022. So not only are they lying orally, not communicating with us by phone, email or mail, keeping our vehicle we are asking monthly payments on, but apparently they never sent our bank (the leinholder) the title for the Jeep we purchased!

Purchased a used vehicle from the Mapunapuna location and it wasnt disclosed there was no second key and a week after purchase the rearview mirror fell off and upon trying to fix it realized the company had super glued the mirror on to facilitate purchase. Now I have to be a whole new windshield because the glass is cracked. Continue to get offered info on who can assist me in repairs. Obviously shouldve mentioned the super glued rearview mirror as its a necessary safety issue for purchase.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: the windshield wouldnt have been a known issue until the rearview mirror broke off so I wouldnt have been able to provide that as a concern. I dont think its unfair to be able to bring up a safety issue after the fact if it becomes known within a fair amount of time after purchase. Also, having been through a safety review from the company it was either unknown and is fair to think it shouldve been noted by me when the issue happened or was known and is fair to request reimbursement for that.

To whom it may concern,
I have answered this complaint from the customer. It was advised to the customers wife that there was no second key and she informed the worker at the location that she would let her husband know about this. As everyone knows we are a used car dealership and there is not always a second key for the vehicle that they are purchasing. However if there is one we will advise the customer that there is one and when they will be able to pick it up. As for the mirror complaint customer had brought the vehicle in to do a safety inspection which it did pass and at that time customer had made no mention about this being an issue or did the issue or concerns arise. With all that being said I dont think there is a problem. Customer still has possession of said vehicle. Thanks for your time and patience.

I am rejecting this response because the business is taking no responsibility for gluing the rearview mirror to the cracked windshield. The mirror fell off on its on while sitting in the sun and offering to refund the cost I paid for a new windshield is fair. I understand the key and hope the business makes it a point to address that with future customers.
