My mother financed a car through this company and paid off the loan in 2019. The company has inexplicably held on to the title for six years. Mother died this year and the court approved my application to transfer the title to me. Cinch Auto Financing has been oddly evasive about releasing the title. Their customer service representatives have given me conflicting answers. They have both acknowledged and denied receipt of my court documents. I have been told that I need some further documentation but they are unable to specifically say what they want. They do not offer any explanation for why they never made the effort to deliver the car title to my mother when the loan was paid off in 2019. Their evasiveness and unprofessional attitude in our communication has been concerning and infuriating.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us and allowing our Titles Manager to assist you over the phone. As explained, our records indicate that a paper title was mailed when the loan was originally paid off in 2019. Unfortunately, we cannot simply produce a new title, and our **************** team has procedures in place for deceased accounts to ensure that we do not disclose account information to unauthorized third parties. We are pleased we were able to assist you with the documentation provided, and we have issued a lien release today. Please reach out to us directly if we can be of further assistance. I am rejecting this response because the information being reported has been historically inaccurate. I have attached screenshots. I have disputed these inaccuracies multiple times only to have your company respond that they are accurate. Furthermore, **** ****** told me that I could attach the requested screenshots here. I have not been able to receive any meaningful response via email outside of being told that I need to call in. I prefer to keep communications through BBB. It is your company's responsibility to report accurate information to the credit bureaus. Please correct this.

Thank you for providing the screenshots. However, they do not indicate from which Credit **************** or app (such as Credit Karma) the information is from. In order to ensure they are reporting according to our submission, we need to know which *** to contact. We confirm again that we are reporting your account information correctly as "Discharged in Bankruptcy". We cannot provide proof of that through this website as it contains your personal information (SSN). We will be happy to provide you with screenshots via a secure method and contact the *** which is reporting incorrectly on your behalf. We will reach out to you again in an effort to assist. You may also call **** ****** back as she is ready to assist you. Thank you.Customer Answer

I finally found the email in my SPAM. The attachment is not for me - it is for my wife. Not to mention, it still shows a balance due that should be discharged. Please double check your document before responding to Experian.

For joint accounts, the ********************** history tab will show the primary borrower, but we confirm that it is reporting the same for both borrowers. You are correct, there is still a balance on this account, but the CII code of "E" tells the credit reporting agencies that it was discharged in bankruptcy. We maintain that we have reported the account correctly, we have reached out to Experian on your behalf to find out why they are not reporting as we are submitting it but their technical team is still researching our request. Please continue to check your report with Experian to monitor any changes however we will reach out to you once we get an answer to our request.Initial Complaint

April 26, 2025, I purchased a vehicle from the dealership(***** RaymanChevrolet in ******, **), using my credit union. The salesman couldn't promise me, the car would still be there when returned with the check. I already have a monthly payment that I make already with my credit union, so there's no way I can pay cinch and my credit union for the same vehicle.Business Response
Date: 06/02/2025
Cinch Auto Finance is an indirect vehicle finance company. We received your credit application from the dealer and approved it on April 26,2025. Page 3 of the Retail Installment Sales Contract, which you signed the same day, clearly lists Cinch Auto Finance as the Assignee of the contract. Please note your first payment is due on June 10, 2026. If you need a copy of your contract, please let us know.
If you have loan documents that show the same vehicle was financed with your credit union, please have your credit union reach out to us. If you wish to re-finance the vehicle with your credit union, please contact our **************** team to obtain a payoff quote.

I am rejecting this response because:
My monthly payments for this vehicle are already being paid and I attached my statement, for this exact same vehicle, make, model, and VIN#.
Sincerely,
****** *****Business Response
Date: 06/06/2025
Thank you for providing your loan statement. However, the statement does not indicate the type of loan, nor does it provide any of the vehicle details (VIN, Year, Make, Model). It also does not match the amount of the contract you signed on April 25, 2025. We called the credit union to try to understand the confusion with your vehicle loan, but they were unable to give us any details without your permission.
We also confirmed with the State of Georgia that Cinch Auto Finance is the registered lienholder of the vehicle. If you would like further assistance, please contact our **************** team with your ********************************************* representative. We have also left you voice mail with a name and number to call back. Thank you.Customer Answer

Cinch does not provide the opportunity to pay principal only online. You must call them, make the principal only payment, then get back on the internet to make your payment. Either way they charge $4.95 for a handling fee. The customer service agent was extremely rude! How is charging for making your payment even legal? None of my other companies do this. I can pay principal only online with my others. I see by the reviews they have a long history of s******* people over.Business Response
Date: 05/21/2025
We apologize for the inconvenience. System limitations prevent online principal payments at this time, but we are working on an upgrade to allow for them. In the meantime, we are waiving the processing fees for principal only payments made with a member of our Team. As you have experienced, we do charge a fee for one time payments, however if you set up a recurring ACH payment schedule, there is no fee incurred for those payments. Please login to your online account or call us directly at ************ for assistance. Thank you.Initial Complaint

Someone came to repossess my vehicle last night very late on a sunday night. My payment was late due to medical emergencies but I would have paid it had they only called me to remind me. They did not. They never called or sent me anything in the mail. My car was almost paid off. A loan that started at almost $39,000 was down to about $4000. I paid the entire past due amount on the spot and show this to the tow guy. He was not willing to wait until monday when i could have the bank release it and took it anyway. I have since today paid off the balance of the car in FULL. I now legally own the car and they still will not give me my car back. Cinch is not willing to release it. They want to wait until the tow company has already sold the car that I legally own. Making this a very urgent situation. I am 100% convinced they are running a huge illegal scheme. I have been paying on this car for nearly 8 years and have been late almost every month because I lost my job shortly after I bought the car and have not been able to work since due to medical reasons. I have always paid my bill during those almost 8 years but I'm usually late. They always call me to tell me I'm late. Matter of fact they usually blow up my phone. I did not receive a single phone call or notice in the mail this time now that the car was basically paid for. I knew it was late but had lost track of how late it was due to emergencies in my household. I have looked up the repo company on your website and see they have a history of doing this kind of thing. Please help me! I am now out a $39,000 car and all these absurd fees they are going to charge me. The "bank" will not release the car even though I have paid it off as of today. Matter of fact they wont even listen to anything I have to say. I have gotten in screaming matching at this company with about 10 people today. Not one would listen to me or even be reasonable. Everyone kept talking over me.Business Response

I am writing to dispute an unauthorized credit inquiry that was opened in my name without my knowledge or consent. This inquiry appears on my credit report under your name and is dated for January 06, 2025. I did not authorize, apply for, or receive any benefit from this inquiry. This constitutes fraudulent activity and violates my rights under federal law. I request that you immediately remove this inquiry from my credit file and provide written confirmation of its removal.Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. 1681 et seq., I have the right to dispute any inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable information on my credit report. Specifically, under 15 U.S.C. 1681i(a), you are required to investigate this dispute within 30 days from the receipt of this letter. The **** mandates that if you cannot verify the legitimacy of the account,it must be removed from my credit report.Business Response

CULS/Cinch is an indirect auto finance company. Approved auto dealers forward credit applications to Cinch when consumers are looking to finance vehicles purchased through the dealership. While you may not have financed your vehicle with Cinch, a credit inquiry would have been made during the financing process. Most credit inquiries will fall off your credit history within 24 months. Our records indicate that we received a credit application from you on January 6, 2025.
Based on this complaint, we will conduct our investigation and mail you the results within 30 days. If you still have questions or dispute the validity of the credit application we will ask you for additional documentation to verify/compare your identity to that of the applicant. Thank you for reaching out to Cinch.Initial Complaint

There are 4 money orders sent for payment to the company that financed my car. After the company in question called me to report my late payment, I informed them I had sent 4 payments of $150.00 each money order via mail in the envelope with the payment voucher they provide before the due date. I then call the ************ that is on the back of each money order and was told only that the money orders were cashed and the date each one was cashed, but not by whom. When I informed the finance company that I called the number and was given the date each money order was cashed, the person I was speaking with hung up on me. I have called Western Union, who I purchased the money orders from, and they have instructed me to file a tracking form, which I have done but it will take approximately 10 weeks to process. I am reaching out to you for help with this matter.Business Response

Dear Mr. **************** will be reaching out to you via phone to speak with you directly to help answer your questions. We can also provide a system generated payment history to show the exact date of each payment. A preliminary search did not show any money orders with those tracking numbers in our system, but with more detailed information, we may be able to identify them. We show that a call received on March 20, 2025 was unfortunately disconnected, but we can assure you that we did not purposefully disconnect the call. We want to help bring your account current. I am filing this complaint because my credit report contains accounts that I do not recognize, and I have every reason to believe they may be linked to a data breach. I take my financial security seriously, and the fact that these unverified accounts are being reported under my name is completely unacceptable. These inaccuracies are damaging my credit standing and creating unnecessary obstacles, and I refuse to allow them to remain unchallenged. Despite my repeated efforts to obtain verification, I have yet to receive any legitimate proof that these accounts belong to me. This blatant lack of transparency is unacceptable and a direct violation of my rights. As a consumer, I demand proper documentation proving their validity, including the name of the unverified item, CINCH AUTO FINANCE; the account number, ******* ; and the reported balance, $11,811.00.Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. 1681g), I am demanding copies of all records used to verify these accounts. A generic response claiming they have been verified will not be tolerated. I require real, verifiable proof such as original account applications, signed agreements, or transaction records that confirm their legitimacy. If no such documentation exists, these accounts must be removed immediately under Section 611(a)(5)(A)(i) of the ****, which mandates the deletion of unverifiable information from consumer credit reports.I will not accept delays, excuses, or vague responses. These errors have already caused unnecessary harm, and I will not allow them to continue affecting my financial stability. I expect a full investigation, a detailed response, and an immediate resolution. Failure to comply will not go unnoticed.Business Response

Dear Mr. ****************** records indicate that we have not previously received any credit disputes from you. As required under the ****, we will conduct our investigation and provide you a written response within 30 days. We will include copies of your credit application, contract and identification that were submitted to us by the dealer, who was also your employer at the time. The ID appears to match what you provided in your complaint. We can also provide recorded phone calls and payment receipts for payments made on the account between January 2022 and May 2023, at which time the account went into default, if needed.
If after you review the copies provided you still feel that you are a victim of identity theft, please file a police report and provide a copy to us so that we may assist in the investigation. Thank you.

Cinch Auto Finance ran a hard inquiry into my credit without my authorization which caused a credit score decrease.Business Response
Date: 12/16/2024
CULS/Cinch has an established indirect relationship with numerous auto dealerships throughout the ********** Cinch has signed agreements with each dealership that allows them to submit electronic applications to our loan origination system for review and decisioning. The agreement requires the dealer to obtain a signed credit application from the customer prior to submission to **********************.
A credit report is pulled once a credit application is submitted to our loan origination system. The application is then reviewed by our Credit Department and the decision is conveyed back to the dealership.

We have conducted a review and our records show only one inquiry on May 14, 2024 at the time of credit application. We have no indication that any additional inquiries were made by CULS/Cinch. We have reached out to you in hopes that you would provide a copy of your credit report showing which reporting agency is showing the inquiry in Nov/Dec. Without that, we cannot submit a removal request. Please know that some credit monitoring tools may provide inaccurate or delayed information and you should request a copy of your credit report directly from one or all of the credit reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) to verify your score. If you decide to work with us, please call us back and ask to speak with a supervisor regarding a credit inquiry. We are happy to help but must have more information. Thank you!Initial Complaint

CINCH AUTO- DO NOT ACCEPT LOAN OFFERS!I recently purchased a new vehicle and paid the first month 1 week ( I made weekly payments of equal amounts) ahead of the due date. 1 day after the due date I called to make a principal payment and the representative informed me they were "not set up" at that moment to take principal only payments. Right after asking for a manager, he then informs me that I can make a principal payment if I pay 2 months of payments now and then excess money would be applied to the principal. Clearly this company is wanting to keep customers in debt to obtain as much interest off of their loans as possible. I received many other reputable pre-approvals for auto loans with a slight interest rate difference. If I had known CINCH AUTO would restrict me from making principle only payments after my regular payment was already made, I would have clearly accepted my other offers. I WILL be refinancing my loans ASAP, and will spread the word to others about not accepting Cinch Auto loan offers!Business Response

We apologize for any confusion about the way your payments are being applied. With a simple interest contract, the interest accrues daily. Any payment that is received will be applied first to any accrued interest and then principal. A true principal only payment will only be applied as such if an amount over the scheduled payment is applied on the same day (meaning there is no interest due).
We left you a voicemail to discuss on December 3, 2024. Please call us back and we will send you a payment history showing how much of each payment is applied to interest and principal. Thank you.Customer Answer
