I am a health care worker going into pharmacy school. I was referred by my Gynecologist to this business for COUNSELING to manage my health anxiety due to being in remission for ALL Leukemia as a child. I spoke with the receptionist at Horizon Behavioral Health to schedule an appointment with a counselor. Once arriving to my appointment, I was required to pay a copay of $208 before seeing the provider. Once I went into my appointment, the provider revealed to me that she can only prescribe and manage medication, and could not provide therapy because she “did not go to college for that.” The provider then proceeded to give me a sticky note with therapist recommendations outside of her office. She also expressed that this incident happened to another patient the day prior to my appointment. After the appointment I expressed to the receptionist (Amy) that I had been incorrectly scheduled, meaning I should have been scheduled with a therapist, not an individual who can only prescribe medication. The receptionist (Amy) told me that the only thing she could do was schedule my next visit with the therapist. I called today 07/13/2022 and spoke with Amy again and she told me that she talked with the office manager and could not credit the amount paid back and that I would have to pay for the next visit ($208). This office was unwilling to come up with any compromise and only wanted to charge the copay again for another appointment. I went to this office to seek help with my anxiety, only to gain more when working with offices in this field.Business response
