Topp's Roofing represented themselves to me to see if they could get my insurance company (USAA) to replace my roof because it was made by Atlas which had been determined to be defective. They added a Public Adjuster named Matthew Fainter to assist them (I assumed). I signed form agreeing to only them to replace the roof if USAA agreed. Long story short. USAA sent a check minus the deductible to the Public Adjuster, not to me. The deductible was over 6,000.00 under the wind and hail area of the policy. What happened to the defective shingle and why was the check sent to Matt (I apparently signed an additional form not knowing it). When I learned all of this I asked USAA (Manny) to cancel the claim and the payment. He said have the adjuster return the check and a letter. The adjuster has refused. He says he will send me a check minus fees or him and Topps.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/10/08) */ Topps Roofing always strives to provide our customers with unparalleled professional service. As our customer states in his complain he signed an agreement allowing us to replace his roof if we were successful in getting that accomplished through his insurance provider. Which was done. We recommended Georgia Public Adjusting to him as we do most of our customers to represent him thought the insurance claims process. He agreed and signed all paperwork. After receiving the news of success I spoke with our customer and explained everything to him in a thorough 30 minute conversation in which he acknowledged his deductible of $6,080 dollars.I ended the conversation telling him someone from our office would be reaching out to him for a shingle color selection. The next thing I know is he's at odds with his own insurance company about paying the claim. Mr. Customer is responsible for choosing his homeowner policy deductible and I surmise if he would have chosen a lower deductible we would not even be having this conversation. We try to exceed All customers expectations at Topps Roofing. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/10/15) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I stand by my initial statement. I would not have agreed to continuing except that I was told it was about the defective shingles and that they could get us a new roof with little or no out of pocket expense. The claim was submitted as "wind" damage. That is not what I agreed to. Had I know that the form I was signing was to have a public adjuster assume control of the claim I would not signed it. I thought I was agreeing to Topps' replacing the roof if the claim was approved for defective shingles and "little to not out of pocket cost" to us. The public adjuster kept Topps informed but did not communicate with me not once. By adding the public adjuster I lost control. I was SCAMMED.
