    According to information in BBB files Saltpoolstore.com has a pattern of complaint alleging Guarantee or Warranty Issues. 

    Specifically, consumers state they purchase products that claim to have a 5 year warranty. However, typically within the first year the product has failed and the warranty is not honored. Consumers also state they are asked to send in their products at their own cost. Once Saltpoolstore.com receives the product they never receive them back nor receive a resolution.

    On May 19, 2023, BBB sent correspondence to Saltpoolstore.com to request their voluntary cooperation in resolving the unanswered complaints as well as their cooperation in elimintating the pattern of complaint.

    On May 20, 2023 Saltpoolstore.com responded with the following:

    Limited Warranty
    This generic cell carries the following Limited 5 year pro rata warranty should fault occur due to faulty manufacture or materials, under normal use and service.
    For residential use, Platinum Edition Salt Cells warrants the original purchaser that the equipment shall be free of manufacturer defects at the time of sale and upon examination, shall provide replacement parts or repair in accordance with the following schedule.

    First Year. Replacement cell supplied from our facility at no cost. Platinum Edition Salt Cells  reserves the right to determine whether or not a cell will be replaced with a new or refurbished cell or repaired.

    Second Year. Replacement cell supplied from our facility at 30% of MSRP

    Third Year. Replacement cell supplied from our facility at 50% of the MSRP

    Fourth Year. Replacement cell supplied from our facility at 70% of the  MSRP     

    Fifth Year. Replacement cell supplied from our facility at 70% of the MSRP
                                                  
    For commercial use in any “regulated pool”, all parts are warranted against defect for a period of one year, without pro-ration. 

    The warranty may be void if the following occurs:  

    •       Damage to the unit beyond Platinum Edition Salt Cells control. 
    •       If correct pool chemistry is not maintained. 
    •       The cell is not cleaned regularly or cleaned by any other method other than by the method recommended by the manufacturer. Damage due to improper service.

    This warranty is applicable to workmanship and materials only and Platinum Edition Salt Cells, its agents, employees, and affiliates expressly disclaim responsibility for loss, damage, or injuries to persons or property arising from warranty failure, or installation of equipment.  

    In no event shall Platinum Edition Salt Cells be responsible for any consequential, special or incidental damages of any nature whatsoever, including, but not limited to, personal injury, property damage, damage to or loss of equipment, lost profits or revenue, costs of renting replacements, and other additional expenses, even if the seller had been advised of the possibility of such damages.

    Warranty claims must be initiated in a timely manner.

      On 30 March 2024 I purchased a salt water generator replacement cell from the business. Prior to ordering I chatted with their customer service, told them the model I was looking for, and the person on the other end sent me a link to the product I needed. I have the chat saved. On Apr 5 I received the part and it was evident it was incorrect. I emailed the company and they told me that the part I ordered is for a totally different model. I explained that they (the business) advised me to purchase that item as the exact replacement needed. I returned the item, at my expense, and they charged a 20% restock fee. I would like that refunded since they are at fault. The also claim they never told me to purchase the wrong part. Ive provided the chat transcript with every email exchange. I also learned that they do not actually carry the needed part. I feel like this entire exchange has been deception from the beginning. They have refunded 80% of the cost. I am looking for the remaining 20% - $73.80

      I purchased a salt cell from the Salt Pool Store (SPS) on July 21, 2022. A key reason in my purchase decision was the 5 year warranty period. By March 2024 my salt cell stopped functioning. I contacted ********** and was instructed to take photos of the item and send both the photos and a current water analysis. I complied with these instructions. Then they sent me a link to fill out the warranty form. Once completed, they sent me a message stating I needed to send the cell in for repair. I had to purchase a bypass for my pool to remove the cell and mail it at my expense. I have also had to use liquid chlorine to keep my pool water clear during the period. The day before my cell was supposed to arrive at their facility, they send me an invoice for $267. I replied to their email asking bout the charge and received no response. I followed up with a live chat 5 days after they received my cell. The prorated warranty was explained in the live chat. I questioned the price quoted which was 76% of the purchase price, not the 30% stated in the warranty. I was told two other things, first my cell had been replaced and a tracking number was provided. Second to send a email regarding the pricing question. At 30%, I calculated my price should have been $105. That would have been acceptable to me, but the reply was the 30% is based on the ***** not the price they have consistently been selling the item for since the day I bought it. When I checked the tracking number from the chat, it was the number from when I sent the defective cell to the company. I have the transcripts from the chat available. I would not mind paying $105 to replace the unit, but I am not paying 76% of the original cost. If they won't send me a replacement cell for the 30% of the cost paid, I want my defective unit back. Their warranty is deceptive at best and may constitute fraud.

      2022 I bought a replacement cell in late May. Put the new one in mid-June (when I opened the pool), it ran for 3 months ... then I close the pool in Sept (short season in ***********)***** in late June I noticed the pool is getting cloudy. Check all levels ... no chlorine. I inspect the cell and it has sprung a leak on one of the two pins ... this corroded the h*** out of the cord contacts to the point where the boot around the contacts was hollow.I take it out, take pics of the damage and the issue, email the retailer, and this is the timeline ...Jul 12: Email and pics sent Jul 12: response with link for warranty claim Jul 13: complete and submit claim Jul 16: I'm told I need to ship to them for inspection and testing at my cost Jul 20: ship Jul 25: they receive (although they don't tell me that)... crickets ...Aug 6: I ask what is going on Aug 15: ask again what is going on Aug 15: I'm sent an invoice for a new part at full price The part they are making me pay to replace lasted all of 5 months of service. I requested the malfunctioning part be returned to be 4 times. I was ignored 4 times.

      I had originally purchased a unit in 2020 which broke in 2022 and received a replacement toward the end of the year ~ October 2022 whcih also broke in 2023 so just 13months old. ***** at Salt pool store requested i pay $460 for repairs but the unit was only $299.00 originally purchased.He then send the following pro rated pricing which is a Scam since they list a brand new unit for $409.00 but claim retail is $920 which I've never seen it sold at that price ever. 2 year Pro Rata Warranty - Platinum Edition Replacement Salt Cell for Jandy AquaPure 3-Port 1400 | ****** Gallons 1 (-$460.00) $920.00 $460.00 Subtotal $460.00 Shipping $0.00 Estimated taxes $0.00 Total $460.00 USD You saved $460.00

      Their salt cell went out within a year. Ordered another one under warranty. Took over 30 days to get it. When it arrived it was damaged and would not work. Tried numerous times to contact company with zero response. Still no replacement. Had to buy another cell from another company because they would not respond to warranty questions.

      Saltpoolstore.com is a sham operation. Their 5-year warranty is a joke! After year 2, the cost will be greater than what you originally paid for it. I never received warranty details until my **15 went defective at 13 months, and then they invoiced me $267 for the **15 that I originally paid $359. Phone personnel cannot resolve issues, but they will NOT give you phone number so you can speak directly to **************************** is non-responsive to customer emails. Overall, this company is the ABSOLUTE WORST at customer service. They have had my defective **15 since 12/8/23, today is 1/11/24. I returned the defective unit at my cost. They state they will return repaired/replaced unit to you in 4-8 business days. LIE! Now they refuse to return my defective unit. CHEAP QUALITY and a SCAM warranty. I never received warranty when I bought product. Had to request it when product failed me 13 months later. See Warranty Below. NEVER AGAIN! Note that the Limited Warranty is based off of the **** ($890 for **15), not off of what you pay for it. TOTAL SCAM OPERATION!       Ordered a pool salt cell with a 5 year warranty. After 10 months the item failed. I was approved for a warranty replacement and told to return the item at my cost and a replacement would be sent within 48 hours. On December 9 I return the item, they received the item on December 13. I have emailed them 5 times with no reply about where my salt cell replacement is. I have left 2 voicemail messages with no reply. I have used their Chat messaging service 2 times for help with no resolution. My pool has not been running on almost a month because of this.I would either like a replacement cell, or my monry back and my old cell returned.

      I bought a salt cell from them in 2021 with a 5 year warranty and on 12/27/23 it failed and I started their instruction on filing a warranty claim.I have followed, completed and sent them all the information for warranty/echange. They now have stop communicating with me on my request for warranty.
