    We are moving from ************************* to ************ due to new employment. We looked around for moving quotes and were quoted $2500 for our move. They made us pay $1400 of that in a deposit for the move. They were supposed to call the week before the move, didnt call. We called on a Friday (with move on Monday) and got no response. Monday we were contacted that they would be there to pick up Tuesday from 2-5pm for pick up. They were there an hour early (not at all mad about this). They look videos and sent them to their company (explained we had worked with a broker and not their company specifically- we did not know this at the time). They then said we had WAY TOO MUCH STUFF and quoted us an additional $3800 in fees. Half to be paid before they touched anything and half when they unloaded. After reviewing everything we told them to leave. They tried to explain and explain and explain. It all felt like a scam and that we were bait and switched. They lured us in with a low quote but needed a large chunk of that in deposit and then ran up the price. After they left we were told the deposit was non refundable and when I called the company the man I spoke with started screaming at me. I have since read numerous reviews all over the internet, including yelp, Reddit, etc of people saying the same thing. This feels like complete fraud to get people at a vulnerable time when they are moving, with everything in boxes, under duress, etc for a large payday. I am honestly worried that if we would have paid them they wouldnt have delivered our stuff or would have held it hostage and demanded even more payments. You also had to pay them with cash, ***** or a money order for the remainder of the service, leaving it largely untraceable. I will say I had never even considered reporting to the BBB and after discussions with lots of family, some with legal background we were largely advised to report to BBB for their dishonest and fraudulent business practices.

    Good morning,

    We are sorry to hear of your experience with Northern Relocation

    After reviewing the details regarding your move, it was determined the mover estimated 1400cu ft on pickup because you had items bigger than noted on your inventory as well as additional items that were not listed. Your contract was for 620 cubic feet. You had the option of going with the original contract cubic footage and declined. 

    You had the option of going with the original cubic footage or the revised estimate at the time of pickup. Also, your move being 291 miles is estimated anywhere from 3-10 business days for delivery. Today being 7/10, you are on your 6th business day and are still within the estimated time frame for delivery.

    Per the contract signed with Northern Relocation:

    CANCELLATION OF SERVICES: I have read and agree to the terms and conditions as set forth below. As the customer, I agree to pay the total charges for the moving coordinator services to be provided by Northern Relocation LLC . I understand that my deposit/fee represents only a portion of my total estimated service charges. Due to scheduling and routing reasons, my deposit/fee is not refundable, unless I notify Northern Relocation LLC in writing within 72 hours after booking at *********************************** of my intent to cancel the estimate. A 5% cancellation fee of the deposit will be charged on all refunds. If the first scheduled pickup date is within 14 business days, then my deposit is non-refundable, due to being considered an emergency dispatch. I understand that if I cancel my move after 72 hours, I am only entitled to receive a credit of my deposit for future interstate moving services to be used by the customer within a 12 month period from the date of cancellation. All refunds will be processed by the next billing cycle. I understand that if I refuse pickup by the carrier I am forfeiting my deposit.

    We would be more than happy to provide you with a courtesy repickup. At this time, the deposit is non refundable per the contract.

    I am rejecting this response because this was not clearly stated in our original quote. We had never used a moving company before and relied on them heavily to get our quote. We felt they we were baited with a low quote and then when we were under distress and in the moment it was switched on us. The man I spoke with on the phone who screamed at me told me we intentionally lied on the inventory, this was not true. We tried to use their guidance and it appears after further research that this is a common practice from them. They also have an astronomical deposit which weve found is not normal with other more national and reputable companies. We asked to speak with someone when the movers were in our place and we were told that she doesnt let customers call her, she calls them. A lot of red flags. I do not feel that their response comes close to remediating this horrific experience.

    it gives no further information and is based on poor business practice. I am realizing in my research that they do this with a lot of people. Bait and switch with a low quote and high re-quote. I believe it is malicious and intentional. I hope you change your practices in better alignment with your he industry standards and to be more ethical. I am incredibly disappointed with the response and would like my deposit back, as you did nothing for us and didnt provide any service. $1400 for a fraudulent quote is ridiculous.

    On 5/17/2025 we hired Northern Relocation for moving services. We were asked to provide an inventory of our items. We gave them a copy of our inventory for moving. We paid half the amount due: $1,122.45, and then we would pay the other half on the day of the move. They assured that we would move on the 16th of May, and our items would be at the destination the next day. The company called us the day before and told us that we have been delayed a day. The following day, May 17th, the movers came. They took a look at our inventory, and they said that we had a lot more than what was on the inventory. When I looked at the inventory that the movers had, I found that the inventory was completely different than what we had put down. The movers said that if we wanted to move, it would be an additional $900 on top of the other $1,122.45 that we owed. They also said that our items would be at the destination in 3-4 days when we were guaranteed next day delivery. We called to cancel and requested a refund, but the customer service agent was belligerent, and hung up on us. We filed a claim with the bank, and submitted both inventories, showing the discrepancy between them. The bank could not give us our money back due to their cancellation policy. We feel this is completely wrong and fraudulent considering it was the company's changing of the inventory that led us to the cancel. We would like to see if we could get our money back. Items such as the mattress, we gave them a king on our inventory, and this one shows a queen.

    The movers arrived with the inventory you approved. As you stated, the chargeback by the bank was declined because you did not move forward with the move at the time of pickup. You could have gone with the 454 cubic feet on the contract at the time of pickup, but however declined the move entirely.

    This inventory was changed from what we originally gave. The furniture has been modified and the mattresses were modified before they even got there. The movers even notified about this. We did not give them this inventory that was on the email. Because of this we had no choice but to cancel because you wanted an additional $900 to move us. In my eyes this is fraudulent.

    When you are sent the booking estimate for your signature, we place the inventory right above the "Click here to Electronically Sign" button on purpose so you can review the contents of the list before signature . Enclosed is a copy of the E-Signed Estimate that you agreed to at the time of booking. Also, we have attached the signed BOL that was signed a few days before the pickup agreeing to the terms. We provided this information so you can double check the conversation between yourself and the sales rep.

    I am rejecting this response because: ************ is the one who modified the inventory. We never put down that we had a queen bed, nor did we have a crib. This was changed on your end, by your sales representative. We would have no reason to change the inventory. This is still considered fraud from my records. I would like this resolved. Due to the mistake of your sales **** it cost us a heavy amount of money. There was no modifications to our inventory when we submitted it.

    On 2/27/25 I spoke with this company's representative, ***** **** who stated my things would be 100% insured, I mentioned have several expensive and irreplaceable items and my concerns. I paid $8743.18 for my move and most of my things were damaged. Since this result I discovered both this company and the company hired to move my things have very bad ratings. I have spoken to the company many times and they deny any wrong doing and ask if I have a recording of the call. This is very sad and they are very rude. My damages are 12K

    I am rejecting this response because: The sales person at this company told me that my things were 100% guaranteed and covered, when I called the company in distress over the .60 per pound they said the same it was on the contract. The day of my move of course I was under a lot of stress and had already given thousands of dollars towards my move was on a tight timeline. This is how the business works, do not use this company they do not stand behind their customer. When I told the supervisor, I was told that my things were recovered 100% he asked if I had that on a recording. Of course I dont. 
    That statement was the only reason I move forward with the company, I had one of a kind and valuable items that were destroyed.

    On March 7, 2025 I contacted Northern Relocation, LLC to get an estimate for a move from my previous address in ** to my present address in **************. I spoke to ****** ****** and was quoted a fee with a deposit of $1,269.00 to reserve the move. I asked him if I could get a refund if I decided to cancel and he assured me that as long as I emailed them with a cancellation request within 72 hours I would get my deposit back less a 5% charge. That was also stated in the contract he sent me.On March 8, 2025 I sent an email requesting that they cancel my reservation. After two weeks with no response from them I called and spoke to **** in customer service who said that I had to speak to someone in billing and that he would make sure they called me by 1pm on Monday the 24th. I never received a call. I have called five times since then and have been told the same thing but no one from billing or customer service has ever returned my call. The last call I made was on April 23rd and spoke again to ****. He had previously acknowledged that my cancellation request was on record but during this last phone conversation proceeded to tell me that they did not receive my cancellation request until March 31st. I have a copy of the cancellation email I sent them dated March 8, 2025.I saw their advertisement on Face Book and that should have sent up a red flag but unfortunately it did not.I am hoping that you can help me resolve this issue since I have not been able to resolve it on my own.

    Transaction was submitted to northern relocation on 5/20/25. The amount of deposit I put down was $900. I submitted a disputed transaction claim with my bank on 05/23/2025 because company did not resolve the issue. I have been hung up by phone from company several times. I have been laughed at. The company treated me badly and was very rude. Northern relocation staff told me that my $900 deposit was non refundable and there is no way I would get it back. I need my money back. I needed assistance with service but services were never rendered. I am currently still trying to come up with funds to get another moving help company.

    5/21/25 The business did not show up to move our items - we called them for hours as it is an out of state move and we had to leave. then they tried to come 9 hours late and strong arm us for another $680 in cash that was not part of the agreed amount to move the items from ******** to *****.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    This is absolutely not true. Northern Relocation movers never gave us an inventory response of 31 boxes. The driver demanded $700 cash for extra space. All my belongs were 100% accounted for and not one extra item was added. We have three witnesses stating they observed my belongs and it matched perfectly to the agreed upon price and inventory list. At no time did the driver ever share any formal or informal inventory list, he just said he needed $700 extra without any reasons behind his calculation or he wasnt moving us. This strong arm approach does not work when you were 12 hours late, and refuse to accept the agreed upon inventory that was carefully inspected by three individuals. We found the driver to be very unprofessional and disrespectful. He sounded and acted like a thug and demanded cash. 

    This was a terrible experience. There is no excuse for terrible customer service and fraudulent behavior. This is not the first time Northern Relocation movers have had this complaint, just look at the terrible reviews. 

    Thanks for your help, I will not allow a terrible business to try to make up lies about what occurred, we have three witness that can testify that the driver was a fraud and lied.

    I have not received any evidence of Northern Relocation movers providing proper paperwork suggesting a discrepancy in my approved and witnessed items to be moved. I had every item allocated for this move documented on the inventory list, I had three witnesses that went over the approved list with no discrepancy. 
    I was not provided a list or reason on the addition fees. I followed the agreement perfectly and Northern Relocation broke the contract.

    I paid the moving company on April 10th. In the amount of $1330.00. I was due to move on April 26th. My ex took me to court on April 16th and I was ordered to that I cannot take my daughter out of her school district let alone the state. I informed ***** **** of this and he said considering the circumstances he submitted everything and it shouldnt be a problem with me being reimburse since I wasnt able to move. I talked to a representative on April 25th he said he seen the notes submitted by ***** but my case is in review and to call back on 4/28. I called back on 4/28 and was informed I wouldnt be getting back my deposit that they will hold it for a year in case my situation changes and am able to move. I told them I can move into the next building of my complex but not out of state. ***** informed me I can still use them to move but would have to pay the remaining balance of $1333.00 to move to the next building because theyre an interstate moving company. This isnt fair when I was told that considering my circumstances it wouldnt be an issue and now theyre keeping my deposit for the movers when Im not able to move.

    On 4/23, you called in again and we advised you that per the cancellation policy (SHOWN BELOW), your deposit was non-refundable due to being outside the 72 hour cancellation window, at which time you agreed to being put on hold, so management sent you an on-hold document per your request.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    I contacted ***** **** On April 17th to tell him I wasnt going to be able to move. I had court on the 16th when I was told I couldnt take my daughter out of the school district. I contacted ***** again on the 23rd and he told me that they dont disperse refunds until Friday mornings. He told me there shouldnt be any problem getting my refund back due to the circumstances of me not being able to move. He told me he submitted all the documentation needed so there wouldnt be any problems. These texts show he texted me back on those dates to give me the numbers which means I contacted him on the 17th letting him know I couldnt move. I want my refund back. They told me they were holding my refund for a year in case I was able to move. I told them I wouldnt be able to due to the fact he father is opposed to it. Then they sent me an agreement stating they are holding my refund for a year and told me to sign it and I never signed it.

    I am rejecting this response because: Yes ***** **** and I talked that day and he told me it would not be a problem for me to get my refund back. We talked again on the 23rd because I was told it wouldnt be a problem on the 27th then when I called on the 23rd I was told refunds arent given back until Friday which was the 25th then I was told by you that I wouldnt be getting it back. Its absolutely ridiculous. You are holding my money in the event that I can move within the year. How is that right? Then when I told you I was moving to another apartment in my complex you said Id have to pay the remaining balance in order to use your moving company to help me move which would have been over $2,600 to move me from one building to the next. Youre keeping my money for no reason and its ********. Yous didnt even move me. All you did was take money from me.

    I initially requested a full refund of my deposit, but Northern Relocation denied it. When I contacted the manager, I was told that ******************** *******, who had advised me to contact him directly, was on vacation and that I had to call the 888 number instead.- 4/9/2025: ******* reached out to me via ************ and provided his direct line 727.274.1385.- 4/15/2025: ******* emailed a moving estimate of $2,698.88 for 455 cubic feet at $3.25/cf. ****** **** paid a $1,345.10 deposit, with $626.45 due at pickup and $626.45 at delivery.- 4/17/2025: I emailed ******* requesting a Bill of Lading and mover details but received no response.- 4/20/2025: I texted ******* about the lack of response, and ****** emailed requesting a refund at 6:23 PM (ET)again, no reply.- 4/21/2025: ****** and I called Operations Manager **** *******, reiterated our cancellation request, and were told we were outside the move window. As the customer, I agree to pay the total charges for the moving coordinator services to be provided by Northern Relocation LLC . I understand that my deposit/fee represents only a portion of my total estimated service charges. Due to scheduling and routing reasons, my deposit/fee is not refundable, unless I notify Northern Relocation LLC in writing within 72 hours after booking at *********************************** of my intent to cancel the estimate.

    I hired Northern Relocation LLC for an interstate move from ******, ** to ***********, **. I agreed to a binding estimate of $3,681.41 and paid a $1,648.29 deposit on April 5, 2025.On April 9, a completely different company (*******************) showed up at my house and refused to start the job unless I paid $1,642.49 more up front, which was never disclosed in the original contract. They also heavily implied a $400 cash tip would be expected. I was never shown or asked to sign a revised written estimate, which is required by law under ***** rules.When I refused to pay these unauthorized charges, they left without performing the move. I am now out $1,648.29 with nothing to show for it.This is a classic bait-and-switch. I was misled, pressured, and left stranded. I am requesting a full refund of my deposit and that BBB warn other consumers of Northern Relocations deceptive practices.I have documentation of everything:Original estimate Receipts Text messages Screenshots of the fraudulent pricing Please assist in resolving this matter and holding this business accountable.

    Good morning,

    We are sorry to hear about your experience with Northern Relocation.

    Upon review of the move, it was determined that when the movers arrived on-site, there were several items not packed for transport. The reason for the $400 cost was not a tip, but rather the cost of packing for your items. We believe a language barrier is the reason for the miscommunication and we do apologize for that, as our carriers hire from many different backgrounds. 

    You had the option of going with the original contract signed by Northern Relocation, or go with the revised estimate. Northern Relocation Management as well as well as ******************* tried to reach out and you refused to answer the phone. After an hour, the movers had to leave to go on to the next job since a decision wasnt made.

    We are sorry you felt your experience was less than adequate and we wish you the best.

    I hired Northern Relocation on Dec 9th, 2024 and paid a deposit of $700 for moving servives. However, the company failed to deliver the agreed-upon services. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, they have refused to refund my deposit.This lack of accountability and professionalism is unacceptable. I urge potential customers to be cautious when dealing with this company. I am requesting that Northern Relocation return my deposit promptly to resolve this matter.

    You mentioned that an offer to place the service on hold was extended after the cancellation period, but I did not receive any communicationneither by message nor phone call. I have not been presented with any offer of any kind. If you have documentation proving otherwise, please share it. As it stands, your statement appears to be false.
