      Affordable roofing replaced the roof in June of 2020. I spoke to the old homeowner, and they didn't give us any warranty info or instructions about transferring it when they sold the house to us.Therefore, when we bought the place in October 2021, we didn't get any registration info for the warranty. We thought the roof was covered, which was a factor in us buying the property. It's important to note that the warranty is for the roof, not the people living in the house.On February 3, 2024, we saw damage to the wood on our wall, which led to us finding a bad leak. This leak has been going on for a while due to the mold, and the extensive plywood damage. When we checked the roof from the outside, we didn't see any loose or missing shingles, or any obvious wear or damage. When we talked today, you said the warranty had expired and that you wouldn't cover the repairs needed. You mentioned that you could send someone over for a fee to give us a quote for the repairs. You also mentioned that the old homeowners got an extended warranty from GAF (Warranty # *******), but it seems to only cover the original owner. I've also reached out to GAF management.Given all that, we don't think the roof should be having these problems less than 5 years after it was installed. It looks like it's down to poor workmanship. We believe you, as the roofing company, should sort this out, regardless of who's in the property. We are in the process of getting an inspection to determine the damage cost, and if it is in fact due to poor workmanship we will take the next steps. We are requesting that you repair the damage. We are not trying to be difficult however, there is a responsibility to the consumer to provide excellence and to stand by that. The cost of a new roof nearly cost $20,000. That is alot of money! I am asking you to do the right thing.

      Affordable Roofing Systems, Inc. (ARS), emphatically denies the alleged issues with the roof are because of poor workmanship on our part.  You even doubt poor workmanship because you state you are in the process of getting an inspection.  Your allegations against ARS are baseless.

      It is important to clarify that ARS never entered into a contractual or other relationship with you.  ARS rendered no goods or services to you, and you were never a client of ARS.  Furthermore, ARS obviously had nothing whatsoever to do with the terms and conditions of your purchase of the house from the prior owner, which was after we had installed the roof. 

      There are various potential reasons, aside from workmanship, that could contribute to the alleged roof issues, presuming they even exist.  We installed the roof in June 2020, before your purchase of the house.  Furthermore, our warranty for the roof expired in June 2022.

      Your use of this public platform is an obvious and unreasonable attempt to bully ARS into providing you valuable labor, materials and services for free.  We encourage direct communication to discuss your concerns privately in a fair and constructive manner.

      Roofing contract signed with Affordable Roofing System June 14, 2021. Paid $2500 deposit to start work 5-6 weeks. Roofing materials chosen: GAF Timberline HDZ, chose 3 color shinges to allow for secondary options that may not be in stock. My chief complaint is how unprofessional and undependable this company is. I reached out to the company 5 times at weeks 3, 4, 5, and 6 to get updates on supplies and permit. Not once did the company followup or respond. I spoke to the receptionist Lee, several times, so I left messages with the office. I'm past 6 weeks and the company is now calling me to choose different roofing options stating that the "color" I chose was not available. This was after I requested a refund for them failing to perform on their contract. The roofing color they quickly sent me was an off brand company sent by text, unprofessional. Speaking to the Manager Rick D., they had no empathy or compromise. Stating I could take it or leave it and would keep my $2500.

      Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2021/08/25) */ Mr. **** did sign a contract with Affordable Roofing systems on June 14th and paid a $2500 deposit at that time. The contract states that the approximate start time was 5 - 6 weeks. With supply issues and summertime weather (rain), it is hard to nail down a specific time. Mr. **** did chose GAF Timberline HDZ shingles, but due to the limited shingle color offerings during these pandemic times we asked him to select 3 choices. He chose, in this order, Sunset Brick, Midnight Blush & Hickory. We were advised by the suppliers and manufacturer that Sunset Brick would be hard to locate, because production of that color had been temporarily discontinued, but we continually tried to locate that from all suppliers, because we knew that was his first choice. While trying to locate Sunset Brick throughout the state we were informed by manufacturing that Midnight Blush had been perminently discontinued. We then began to pursue Hickory, which we were initially told by the suppliers and manufacturer that they were making some. We should have communicated more with Mr. **** during this time, but the information we were getting was constantly changing. No excuse, just a fact. Shortly after the 6 week time, Mr. **** called and said he wanted to cancel the contract and that he needed to get his roof replaced. We then informed Mr. **** that his 3 day right to rescind the contract had expired and that we had not done anything wrong or in violation of the contract. We advised him that his choices were to select another GAF color (we offered another national brand with the same color, quality & warranty), Cancel the contract and forfeit his deposit or wait until the colors he choice became available. Mr. **** was not happy and threatened to give us a bad review. Since the time this claim was filed, we met with Mr. ****, he selected another GAF color and we quickly installed his roof. He expressed his satisfaction with the quality, professionalism and how the project turned out. Rick d. had a follow up call with Mr. **** and apologized for the lack of communication and the perception that we had no empathy. Also explained that this lack of communication prompted us to implement some changes to improve our communication. We are not in the business of upsetting or stressing our customers. We have been around for over 20 years, but these past two have had challenges we had not seen before. We are happy to know that Mr. **** is happy with his roof.
