Was told Sierra had renovated handicap accessible homes. Was referred to them b/c they've done Wounded Veterans home. Bought house 2019. Was told would take 2 mon to complete VA Grant pw, 5 months renovate. Signed an 8 mo lease rent ADA apt. 2 days after moving here fell in apart shower b/c didn't have ready for me. No grab bars,took 1/2 glass door off. Had to transfer from my wheelchair to bench. After shower, trying to get back in chair, water splashed made chair slide. I fell,getting 2 wounds. Was admitted to the Tampa VA 4 times from Columbus Day wkend 2019-Feb 26, 2021. The last admin almost 8 mon.Had renew apart lease b/c took 8 months complete paperwork,another 7-8 months to renovate house. On 4th admin they renovated house. The VA hospital's SCI (Spinal Cord) units were and are on lockdown. Couldn't leave our unit or hospital b/c COVID. Couldnt check on contractors work. They finished while in hospital. Went home, and told them what was wrong. Bathroom sink too high, walk in closet had no hanging rods, my shower, my lanai floor outside my bedroom door to lanai, Hygiene bench, no vent for dryer, laundry closet's too narrow for washer and dryer. Took them 1/2 yr to lower bathroom sink, and more months putting in clothes hanging bar. Can't get into details, b/c only allowed 2k words. New lanai floor, they put in are clusters of small rocks. Rocks came loose. They sprayed it, and ruined it. Rocks get stuck on tires of wheelchair, scratch new bedroom floor. They sent invoice to pay for lowering bathroom sink, and adding clothes bar. Sent email to them telling them that it wasn't my fault. Sent them chair measure way before they started. Have emails stating this. Told them,wanted closet to have.At first, put contraption thing on that large wall w/o asking.Sent them pics, and videos of my lanai floor. Given them ample time to respond. They need to come fix the stuff they didn't do right. Don't hire them unless u can monitor their work daily. I wont use them againBusiness response

We have been doing VA work for over 25 years. This job did have a permit and the project was fully inspected and we have a Certificate of Completion from Hillsborough County (see attached). Owner did not want ramps to be in any way distinguishable from existing patio flooring. Owner did not want to change out existing type of flooring, which is river rock. River rock will never match old river rock due to aging, fading, wear and tear, etc. We did all new ramps with river rock at Owner's choice. We have returned 2 times to repair damage due to wheelchair wheels turning in same spots. Each time, color will vary. We are willing to return one final time and recoat all the new river rock with an epoxy coating. Owner will have to stay off coating at least 24 hours to ensure that it has dried properly. It will all be a noticeably different shade than the original river rock. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/02) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) First off, I was admitted in the hospital the entire time they renovated my house. I could not come check on it. That is why I gave them my chair measurements. The VA may have come inspected if, but that was before everything was falling apart. They don't inspect the work e or her. They inspect the handicap accessibility of the house since used housing grant. They came to spray the rocks several times and it looks horrible. You can see all the shiny spots. Not a different color. You can see the spots because you cna see the spray they used. Didn't even put the rocks and just sprayed. I have several more soft spots. Video of the way it looks Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2022/04/13) */ The VA inspects prior to every draw. We received final payment, so clearly the VA inspected the project until completion. Yes, they inspect for accessibility and obviously found nothing. Again, we are willing to come out a final time and put a heavy epoxy coating on the entire new section of river rock. We will add to the spots that are being ground daily by the wheelchair wheels. River rock comes loose with regular wear and tear. Turning wheels in the same spot, daily or multiple times a day, will do this as well. The new coating will make the color different. Thank you. Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2022/05/12) */ 5/12/2022 We would like to resolve this issue. We have offered to come out one final time, we have not gotten any response since our offer on 4/25/2022 to put a heavy epoxy coating on the entire section of river rock where the issue exists. We have reached out to the VA Coordinator, the inspector for this project, to ask them if there were any issues that they could see with the work that was done. Below is the response we received from the coordinator. 'First off, this type of surface with epoxy managed pebbles is not a very wheelchair friendly material. The turning and twisting of the heavy chairs and rubber wheels will breakdown the material down and loosen the rock. If what she had installed is what she wanted to match existing, and you have done your due diligence and performed your warranty obligations as required, there is not much more that we can expect for you to do. These things happen as heavy wheelchairs are hard on surfaces.'
