I paid for a nights stay at the Econolodge located at **** * ****** ****** ************ ** on February 20, 2022 with my ********** debit card that ends with *****. The following morning, I went to the office to pay to extend for another day. I had to wait for the GM to show up and was told that my payment for last nights stay was marked VOID in their accounting software and I would need to pay for that nights stay again if I was to extend my stay. So, I did just that, this time using my **** debit card that ended with x**** from another bank. A day or so later, I go to check my bank account tied to my ********** and lo and behold, the charge posted to my account by the motel. I filed a dispute with this bank about the merchant being paid twice for the same nights stay. The bank came back and denied my claim for a refund saying the merchant had a legitimate authorization and was entitled to the payment. I called and spoke to the GM again and I was assured that I was not double charged for that nights stay. I told her that I have the bank statements that prove otherwise. She asked me to send the documents and she’d have their accountant look it over. It has been almost 7 days and have not had a response from the merchant.
