In March of 2022, we insured our home with Tower Hill thru Ideal Insurance **** The agent who I spoke with, and who wrote the policy's name is *****************************************. The quote for insurance came in double what we had paid the previous year, for our previous home. Similar home, same coverage. I emailed her questioning this, and her reply was "Unfortunately, the market for insurance has been bad over the last year. Premium have gone up and companies have pull out or restricted the amount in areas. Let me know what you decide" We ended up paying the premium. When we got our renewal notice in January of this year, I called another agent for a quote for the same coverage that ************************* wrote our current policy for. They stated there should be no ***************************** because there is none! Our shed and carport are attached to our home, so there should not be any Coverage ** We paid $320 for the Coverage B line item. Insurance we never had, for structures that don't exist. I called ************************* on Monday, Jan 23rd and asked about this false coverage. She stated they could back date the policy and return our money. She said she would let me know by Wednesday, Jan 25th. We heard nothing from her. On Tuesday, Jan 31, I made a follow up call to her and inquired about our money. She stated she "talked to her Supervisor, and there is nothing they can do". We answered all of this agent's questions regarding our home correctly regarding the home, shed, and carport. This Policy was written incorrectly, and this was gross negligence on the agent's part.On 2/3/2023 we received a response from ************************, VP of Personal Lines Underwriting at Tower Hill. *************** stated that Coverage B covered our driveway and mailbox. The premium for coverage of our driveway and mailbox was $320, while the premium for coverage of our home, shed, and carport was only $279? Ridiculous explanation for negligence and error made by both the agent, and Tower Hills underwriter.
