My story is not different than all the stories that have already been submitted. I signed my contract May 2021 with Mitchem Construction. The initial work was just expanding my driveway and back patio. Before Michael started the job, we expanded the work to include concrete walkways, stamping/staining the new concrete in the back, building a pergola and sod. Once he started in June 2021, he said it would take a week and a half to complete. Rain came. Excuses started. They would come once a week then once a month then whenever. Would send text messages that someone would be coming but no one would show up. By this time, I had already given him $14,224.63. Finally in November 2021 he poured a third of the concrete. Asked for more $ for the sod and more $ for the concrete that ended up being a bigger area than we had originally discussed. I moved funds around so that I could pay him to finish the job AND THAT WAS THE LAST TIME MICHAEL MITCHEM came to my property to do anything. First it was that he could not schedule concrete to come to my home in December. Then it was that everyone got COVID. Then it was he was coming but his truck broke down. By April 2022, I decided that I was done with my backyard being all torn-up and debris left behind for over 5 months and a driveway that only had red clay for 11 months because MITCHEM CONSTRUCTION could not be bothered to finish the job. The extra $$$$ that was given to him in Nov/Dec was over $11,000. Once he was told NOT to return to my property, he started to ask us to let him finish the job. Why would we? There was no more trust. He even went as far as to say he would finish for free...HOW? Concrete company must be paid. Sod must be paid. I know the $$ I had given him was long gone. What Michael did is unforgivable!!!!! READER BEWARE, IF YOU ARE THINKING OF HIRING MITCHEM CONSTRUCTION OR MITCHEM LANDSCAPING OR MITCHEM "ANYTHING", YOU MAY LOSE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY.
