We paid this company $9,200, split into two payments one was submitted on 8/25/23 and one 10/3/23. Company's sales representative Gustavo M****** harrassed us with very aggressive collecting skills. He was explained multiple times that final payment was going to be submitted after the installation of our solar panels and he agreed multiple times. Gustavo called us last night around 7:30ish PM with a very rude and aggressive collecting behavior. He blatantly said our solar company representative was a liar and continued to interrupt us while we were explaining once again that final payment was agreed upon final installation. His unprofessional and rude behavior lead to chest pains and sleepless night. We called today and spoke to Juliana H**** and after expressing concerns, she replied: "Are you done? Turn the page, we extended your deadline" with a disgusting rude tone. We have tried contacting owner Juan J******** multiple times to express our concerns and we have not heard back. Also, we keep finding roofing nails around our property which is a hazard.

Thank you for your review. It's important to clear up some misunderstandings for a comprehensive view of the situation.
The contract for roofing services was clear and agreed upon by both parties: a deposit would initiate the work, with the balance due upon completion. The introduction of a conditional payment contingent upon solar panel installation was not part of our initial agreement and was not communicated to us at the outset.
Additionally, the involvement of a realtor in the payment process was introduced post-agreement and was not a condition we were made aware of during the contract signing. However, we were patience and decided to continue with our work. Our team, especially Gustavo, maintained professional and respectful communication throughout the process, despite facing significant challenges.
Gustavo's commitment to professionalism was unwavering, even when faced with disrespectful and derogatory language. At Sky Light Roofing, we prioritize transparent agreements, professional service, and respectful interactions for a productive and positive client experience. However, your comments are very important to us as that only hep us grow as a company and as a team and a verbal warning was given to both Juliana and Gustavo and it is understoodd that the special considerations and time given to pay your bill shouldn’t have been approved.

As for the nails, there is no problem in us coming back as any times as needed. We do try to do the best job we can when cleaning after a job, but some nails will still slip off. As you would understand thousands of nails were used to fasten your new shingles and decking so if we missed some, we will be happy to come back to re-clean.

I bought this home in July of 2020. In July of 2021 I noticed a leak spot on the ceiling in my fireplace room. The repair job only being a little over two years old. Make it so my roof that was redone by Skylight Roofing on 10/19/2019 does NOT LEAK! I called and spoke with Louise. Who then sent out Carlos to look at the roof to evaluate it. In the mean time Ren kept in contact with me. In the mean time we were having a lot of rain and more rain spots running down the hallway appeared six months later. Now I have even more distention in the ceiling tiles in my fireplace room from the Hurricanes we just experienced. I spoke with Louise who told me because I had applied a Home Depot roofing tar over their work this voided any warranty they would have offered. However the ridge vent was not touched by me nor doctored in any way and STILL skylight is refusing to stand behind their "work"! Remember it is a shingle roof supposed to last 12-15 years. And yes I slopped tar down the areas that looked to be causing the leak. Remember, I'm not a roofer and they are. And yet their roof barely held out the rain a year. The previous owner was 86 years old and did not go up to look at the work. All I want is my roof to not leak! The rest of the roof looks great it is the valleys between different peaks and the ridge vent.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/12/01) */ Mr ****** contacted our company because he had some concerns for a possible warranty because of a couple of ceiling stains he found on his ceiling. When we arrived to his property, he expressed that although the stains where in the roof he had not seen them to be active. we went ahead anyways and performed and inspection of thee roof to make sure everything was still in good condition. In our inspection we found that there were no apparent damages that needed to be repaired, but there was a very big patching in the ventilation that had not being performed by our company (please see the pictures attached). Our company doesn't apply such sealers, nor was this done by a roofing expert, so the homeowner was informed that this area ha been manipulated by a third party, so we would not honor a warranty in such area. Furthermore, we performed a water test to give the homeowner an assurance of what the next steps he should take, and there ere no active leaks, so we concluded and expressed personally to the homeowner that the ceiling stains could have been from the repair previously done and that he was ok to simply cover those stains. I would assume these repairs were done by the last owner of the property. Our company fulfill our part of the warranty and honored our promise of the free inspection, free water test, and free consultation. we were truly under the assumption that we had provided a good service for the new owner of the property. Please see the attached pictures of the condition we left the roof on the last time we visited the property, and the pictures from the inspection performed just recently.

We hired Sky Light to help with an insurance claim for roof damage. We signed a document below to use them for the roof replacement through the claim in August of 2021. Our claim was denied and through the advice from Sky Light, we hired their preferred lawyer to help fight the denial. Our insurance company has gone out of business and we need to proceed with the roof replacement without the settlement. We are paying cash for the roof and will hopefully recoup any costs through our claim down the road. We asked Sky Light to proceed and give us the price to do the job now without the claim, and the price skyrocket to $50,000 from the initial quote we were given of $14,000 for the job. We attempted to work this out with Sky Light but they are keeping their price at $50,000. This feels like insurance fraud as they are attempting to get much more for our roof than the fair market rate or what has been quoted to us. We had 2 other roofers quote us $30,000 and $25,000 in the last 30 days so we know that they are inflating the cost in the hopes the insurance company will pay. Overall, we are just attempting to have let them us out of the attached agreement so if we do eventually get a settlement the money won't be tied to Sky Light. We haven't paid them for any services and they haven't started any work.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/08/01) */ This is an ongoing case as Mrs****** just received the insurance proceeds and is now trying to renegotiate a roofing price. Mrs****** has been informed of all the office labor, roofing inspections, expert reports given to the insurance company, and overall all the work that goes behind the scenes when dealing with an insurance claim; which Mrs****** and her insurance USED to determine what we now now as an approved claim. Mrs****** informed our company of the poor settlement her insurance company was able to pay due to their current inactive status in FL. just very recently. Mrs****** was also explained the difference on pricing between a cash deal estimate (which is the one she is now receiving from other companies that didn't invest nor spent any labor or expertise on a months long case) and the insurance claim process she signed an agreement with us for. Mrs****** was also explained how insurance companies only work with an estimating system that generates the price according to an scope work we provided to do for her roof replacement. Insurance companies, nor contractors manipulate these prices; the prices are system generated. Mrs****** is making the assumption that we can agree with the insurance company to an approved scope and then turn around and do it for a lot less (which will then become fraud). Insurance claim approved scopes and its prices should not be changed as it then becomes a contract. It is fraudulent for a company or a homeowner to simply keep insurance proceeds without a justification. Mrs******, then, requested yesterday through an email the cancellation amount per our agreement and she was informed of it this morning. Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2022/08/16) */ The owner is stating we have received a approved claim and a settlement for our insurance claim. We have not. We have not received any settlement and our claim is still denied. We are fighting it with a lawyer but we were forced to hire a different roofing company due to Skylights inflated cost. We bid out the roof after they came back with their ridiculous price of $50,000 and we are replacing our roof for $24,000 which was the medium price we found once we contacted a few companies. We are still paying out pocket for this roof, we have no insurance claim. We are still bound to Skylight and will have to pay them a cancellation fee or hire a lawyer. Working with them has been a true nightmare. Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2022/08/22) */ Mrs******: We have always been available for you and will be until you decide to do so. You decided in the middle of the claim to shop around a cash deal price (which has been explained to you numerous times works very different than a cash deal). I have also explained that Sky Light Roofing DOESN'T price out insurance companies, instead we are obligated to use an XACTIMATE system that generates the price automatically. We simply sent your insurance company a scope of the work to be done. In any case, we always agreed to do your roof for the amount settled with the issuance, regardless of the total. You were the one who decided to do the settlement on your side, allowing the insurance to leave out several items needed for the replacement ourt of the scope. We explained to you that regardless of the outcome, your financial responsibility would always be the same - the deductible amount. It was your decision to go to another company where you were misinformed and persuaded to pay money out of your own pocket. I am very sorry you were misinformed and pushed to make a decision when we have discussed the process with you since the very beginning.

I signed the roof replacement contract with Skylight Roof on 4/14/2021. Since then on up until 5/13/2021, more than 5 weeks, they've been incompetent to upload them properly damaged roof pictures and documents so the adjuster would work on my claim. 4/26/2021 - My insurance CLOSED my claim due to no pictures or documents from the SLR, after a whole two(2) weeks I've been in the dark. 4/28/- My insurance Re-oped my claim after I CALLED THE INSURANCE NOT SLR Since then the adjuster has been calling me not receiving or the proper pictures from the SLR. 5/1/ - SLR, Julian came back took more pictures 2nd time 5/13/ - Finally the adjuster got them all 5/20/ - Called SLR due to the tarps on my roof crumbed down, they came back the second time to put them again. It has been so frustrating, wild ride, troublesome, worrisome and I don't have the confidence in the workmanship to have a relationship with SLR so I canceled. NOW, they want over $5000.00 for the cancellation fee.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/06/25) */ Contact Name and Title: Angie J******** (VP) Contact Phone: (407)430-7663 Contact Email: [email protected] 06/24/2021 This complaint is not only unethical , but a clear abuse of a platform we are provided to be just and review companies on an honest way- and not to force or threat companies, just like Mrs **** did through her lawyer, who called me stating "either you take the amount of money my client wants to pay you to cancel your contract or I would DESTROY your company on every media..." and this is a clear evidence of a false accusation simply to get out of a contract and not pay for services already provided. On 04/15/2021 Mrs. **** ***** signed a contract with Sky Light Roofing for his property located at **** ****** ******************, ** XXXXX with one of our sales guys, ****** J******** in exchange for his roofing services, which included but were not limited to....participate on the claim handling with the insurance company, install a tarp for his roof already affected, assist on the insurance inspections, provided insurance company with all evidence and loss reports as needed, to finalize replace the roof according to an amount agreed upon with the insurance company and the homeowner's only responsibility would be the deductible amount and any other item that the insurance wouldn't cover per the insurers policy. Julian, the salesman and main contact for Mrs song, haded in the contract to the office the same afternoon the contract was signed. We then allowed the homeowner 5 days to think through this contract and to allow for the cancellation period before we turned in and filled this contract with the insurance company on 04/20/2021. On 04/22/2021 our office sent an email to the homeowner informing that we had called his insurance co. And that we had received confirmation that all the documents were received by the insurance co. For which Mrs Song simply responded thank you for the update. On 04/26/2021 Mrs. **** sent an email informing that the adjuster from the insurance company called that she will need another 48 to 72 hours for her to make a decision on the claim and that she will be calling back with a decision. We responded back to the email thanking for the update and explaining that we were going to follow up with her as soon as we heard anything from them. On 04/27/2021 the homeowner sent another email saying the adjuster called her that she had never received our documents from Sky Light Roofing. From what we called the homeowner to inform her and remind her that on 04/22/2021 we had called the insurance and the person that assisted the call said that they did receive it and provided us with a confirmation. On 04/28/2021 we sent an email to ALL STATE INSURANCE requesting a call from the supervisor that was in charge of the homeowner's claim since we were confused by the documents situation. On this day, we resent all of our documents to the insurance and the email went through. We called the insurance company on the same day and ****** from the insurance department informed me that they did have our documents and they had it all in their system. We sent an email to the homeowner letting her know that we had followed up with the insurance co. and that they did have all of our documents from Sky Light Roofing. The homeowner sent me an email copy pasting the email that the adjuster sent her saying that the adjuster still did not received our documents and also that they needed photos from under the tarp so she could see the damages. Later that day, we sent an email letting the homeowner know that ******, the salesman, would get us the requested photos and the homeowner reply back to my email acknowledging receipt. On 04/30/2021 Song sent an email asking if we had time to review the adjuster's email and our response was -yes, we did that we were just waiting for Julian to go to the property to get the requested new pictures and the response from the H.O was Great and thank you for the update. On 05/03/2021 we sent an email to the insurance Co. with the requested photos and the email went through. Also, we sent an email to the homeowner letting her know that we had sent the photos to the insurance and her response was thank you. On 05/04/2021 the adjuster, DaCassidy, called us saying that she did not receive the photos so we resent another email to the insurance company and cc emailed to the homeowner. On 05/06/2021 We sent more photos of the damages of the roof just in case the adjuster said that she did not have received them. On 05/12/2021 Angelismarie from Sky Light Roofing InsuranceDepartment was calling the insurance to follow up on the claim and she had to resend all of our documents because the adjuster said that she can not open the emails that we had sent since the beginning that we've been following up with the insurance and also she sent an email to the homeowner explaining him what was going on with his claim and his insurance. On 05/14/2021 Angelismarie sent an email to the homeowner saying that the adjuster was trying to get with her to inform that the insurance had approved his claim and that they needed to discuss it before the adjuster could send a copy of their estimate.Homeowner sent back an email to us saying AWESOME and thank you for the clarification. On 05/17/2021 we received the estimate from the insurance and we changed the file in our system to approve, letting our team know we were now ready to start the production and permitting process for the replacement. On 05/21/2021 the homeowner called requesting us to re-position or fix the tarp, so we immediately sent one of our supervisors to fix it. On 06/03/2021 we sent an email to the homeowner to see if he received the payment from the insurance co. Yet as this was required before commencing the job as stated in our initial contract. On 06/04/2021 **** sent an email saying that we had not contacted her for 11 days straight. In one of our latest emails we even requested a call back so we could discuss the payment and she simply responded that she was working and that she was going to call us the next day, but she didn't. We called the insurance company to see if they had released the payment for Song's property and they informed me that they had sent 2 checks to the homeowner so that he could pay us. On 06/05/2021 We received an email from **** saying that she was no longer interested to continue with our services because there was too many misunderstanding from the beginning until now. On 06/07/2021 We sent an email to **** informing that we had called and sent an email to her insurance company explaining that she had received and cashed both checks but she did not continue with our services and that I had requested a supervisor. For which her response was OK and thank you but we were only concerned about our rights so therefore we had to know that she had to protect her rights that we were going to hear from her lawyer soon to take care of this issue. Then, we sent her a cancellation notice letter (attached) to remind her of her cancellation responsibilities as stated in our original contract (also attached). On 6/22/2021 We received a call from ****'s lawyer stating that basically we had TWO options: either accept any money they would offer us to cancel the contract or they "would destroy our company online". As every other trade, we work for a profit, so we are fairly asking for a 20% that is owed to us for our time, expertise, knowledge and counseling. Plus the tarp fee.
