We replaced our AC with Cool Today in Fall of 2021. From sales to install we were plagued with problems regarding agreed upon equipment and terms of installation/cost. Our installation date was delayed due to the lack of organization regarding equipment/services we paid in full for. We find out in the 3rd year that it was installed INCORRECTLY from day one. This was the root cause of several issues, and several service calls between 2022 and 2024 without proper resolution or even identification! We had even purchased and paid for ($2000+) a few upgrades upon recommendations and a maintenance plan, along with incidental service fees, to keep up with a machine that was never working properly due to the bad initial installation. After this was brought to their attention, a team was sent out to resolve the issue by moving the same equipment to a new location in our home to honor the original terms of our agreement (from 2021). Since the unit was moved we have had several new issues, only to find out (7/11/25) that we now need a full compressor replacement due to botched wiring from a technician after 2024 move. Being that this IS the same equipment from the start, there was also another litany of broken elements and warranty replacements that caused us to be without AC for days since the unit was moved. Our agreement upon purchase stated 3 years full replacement, 5 years labor, 5 years compressor replacement, 10 years parts. Cool Today has been stringing us along from the beginning to delay providing us with minimal service and subpar customer service to "remedy" some very serious problems with our unit from the beginning. This has caused us undue hardship, in both our monthly electrical costs, and time away from our jobs, home, and family while we wait for our AC to function as it was initially promised and agreed upon. This is a special needs household (autistic child, 9), how can we trust this will be fixed without further cost and hardship?Business Response

I am rejecting this response because it has been 5 days and I have NO evidence that the business has attempted to contact me as requested. There is no familiar number on our recent calls in my husbands or my phone logs.I have been calling Cool Todays main contact line daily and requesting contact from them since Saturday morning, ensuring my name and phone number was relayed in the messages sent.
The latest information I have received is that a manager has been assigned to my case since 9:08 AM on Monday, and they will call me soon. Again, I have not received any call back or attempt to connect via email or phone given my daily requests for contact and follow up via customer support.

I am rejecting this response because: We have now gone OVER 7 days without a functioning AC, and although we have called every day (save for this past Saturday and Sunday) we have NOT gotten any credible status updates regarding the repair or replacement of our unit. We have plans to go on vacation at the end of this week, and I am not sure I will have an update or a replacement of our unit even by then! INFURIATING!Some context: Been having this particular issue with the unit since MAY. Have had several technicians out to repair and replace parts on our machine to fix the issue since then. Issue persisted and had not been fixed. When I called again to report the machine was acting up, a technician came to our home Friday (7/11/25), did a thorough work through, and told us that a part to our unit was broken beyond repair due to faulty wiring done by a technician who had done an earlier repair to another issue we've had since the machine was improperly installed, that basically burnt the part out. Showed us the photos of before and after as evidence.
Here are the details I know:
- After the tech came to our home on Friday 7/11/25 evening. I made a call to request documentation of our history with Cool Today - Was promised by a **************** Representative but never received.
- Called Saturday and Sunday (7/12 - 7/13) spoke to two different **************** Representatives who forwarded my concerns to "dispatch" - never received a call back.
- Called Monday (7/14) spoke to a representative who forwarded my concerns to ****************** Was told someone would call me back - never got a call.
- Called Tuesday (7/15) spoke to a representative who told me my case was assigned to the General Manager at around 9 AM Monday, then told me I would get a call back that day. Never received a call.
- Called Wednesday (7/16) spoke to a representative that said ** tried to call me at approximately 5 PM on Wednesday. Didn't recieve a call, didn't track a missed call, or a voicemail. Told them that, they said he would call me back soon... No call. Had to call again to get a call back at 3 PM. ** didn't know the details of my case, promised a replacement by same day - tech came, said replacement was not what was issued in the report. Called in his manager, then spoke with installation manager who stated that they were working on "finding a replacement" - promised a call back from the installation manager by evening... Nothing was repaired. Nobody called back. In the meantime, the ** called me and scolded me for "refusing" a repair. I explained that's not what we had discussed at 3 PM, I stated that we required a full replacement of some equipment as stated in our technicians report from Friday 7/11. ** argued he couldn't do that, and that the only guarantee was the right of repair. I stated, there have been several technicians from his team out since May, none of them have resolved our issues regardless of the equipment they replaced, and the upgrades we paid for. ** eventually stated he was going to "work on it".
- Thursday (7/17) - No updates, regardless of calling in again - requesting I speak to someone regarding my unit.
- Friday (7/18) - Called in and spoke to a representative to demand someone who is assigned to my case speak with me that day about an update. Representative promised a call within minutes. No call. Called back 2 HOURS later to speak to the ***************** representative (manager?) who listened to my story and gave me an email address as a consistent point of contact. They told me a "replacement of our unit" was ordered by the Installation Manager (when?) and they were waiting for an ETA.
- Saturday and Sunday (7/19 - 7/20) - Sent two emails (attached) with questions and an update that our system is failing again.
- Monday, today (7/21) - Called in 2 times, no call back. No response to emails sent over the weekend. No questions answered. Called again at the end of the day, demanded to speak to someone - was forwarded to Installation Manager, said they will call us back by end of day with update. NO CALL RECEIVED.It is near impossible to get a point of contact on our case, that is willing to provide us with an *** or any details regarding our resolution. Meanwhile we are suffering the hottest days of the year in our home without AC. I have gotten no emails, voicemails, or even descriptive information regarding our replacement, the new unit (if it's ordered), or even anyone that is has more than 10 minutes to talk to us about our case and answer some questions we have.
Cool Today has treated us like a number since day ONE. We have absolutely lost trust in this business and how it handles complaints, and customer service inquiries. Given that we have been experiencing issues since the machine was installed, we have a long case history with the company - including a major repair and relocation of our unit last year - that was supposed to solve all our issues... not so. Each time, with the exception of the major move, we feel like the can has been kicked down the road so our guarantees will expire and we will be on the hook to foot the bills for faulty workmanship and equipment.Once again, I am willing to work with this business for a resolution, otherwise I am out thousands of dollars in equipment and upgrades, not to mention that I will VOID my warranty with your company AND our unit (manufacturer) that was put in place to PROTECT me from this situation ever happening in the first place if I call or use anyone else.

I hired Cool Today because my AC unit is blowing air but not cooling. They sent a technician who said as soon as he saw the closet said,Youre blower is bad. He proceeded on diagnosing the air handler. After wards,he said its not the problem. He went at the side of the house to look for the ac unit. As soon as he saw the ac unit, he told me, my AC unit had a major leak. I told him to fill it up. He charged me $786 for it. He went back to the house and did more diagnostics. Since I want the unit to function without problems, I told him to do maintenance but he said ,he can only do flushing. I waited for him inside the house to flush the system with chemicals ,but he did not go in.I saw him with a suction machine and cable in the driveway side.He said ,he already did it. He opened up the air handler closet and I notice the air handler stopped making noise.He packed up after I paid him another $189. I then realized the system shut down. I followed him outside in his truck and told him about it. He said,the blower Is dead and I need to pay $2000 to fix it. Im speechless,I just realized I got scammed. I took 2 second opinions of AC unit. Both if them are saying there is no leak in the system. One of them said, if ever the unit need coolant, it wont be that much. Both of them said the system is flooded with water. I paid one tech $140 and the other one who did major fixing of the system $1200. I reach out to ***** twice who is the ** manager. Sorry if I wasnt able to respond in 10 days. Im out of town and having signal issues with my internet carrier. I contacted Cool Today and wasnt satisfied with the response. They offered to refund $189 and not the full amount. I decline the offer because I feel cheated by this people. I want the full refund because I cant reward them with their fraudulent tactics. This is becoming a new norm in this country and people should be warned about it. I want my complaint published. Its my right and duty as a citizen of this country. I had Cool Today install new a/c last year and also signed a service contract to include not only a/c but also plumbing and electrical. So when my garbage disposal backed up I called Cool Today. I was told I needed a new disposal and I agreed. While he was there I asked if he could install a new kitchen faucet. He said yes but would have to come back the following day. I paid more than $500 for the garbage disposal repair (included a new disposal) and that was only 1/3 of what both jobs was going to cost. After he left I realized it was way too expensive so I called and canceled the faucet replacement, however, I received a bill for the job that was never done. I also feel I was overcharged for a simple garbage disposal replacementalmost $600! I have called repeatedly for resolution and have had none. No, I have not heard from Cool Today. And their response on your website indicates they still dont understand my complaint. They said they cant take further action until an outstanding bill is paid. What management must not realize is that the service was never provided! I had a new garbage disposal installed and the installer was supposed to come back another day to install a new kitchen faucet which he never did because upon receiving the bill, ($587 to install garbage disposal ) I cancelled the kitchen faucet job! Cool Today sent me a past due bill for more than $1,000 for a job that was NEVER done! Furthermore,I feel I was overcharged for the garbage disposal install and wanted a breakdown of how it cost so much. This is a company I used to replace my A/C and spent $15,000 ! Cool Today came out to tune up a perfectly working **. ** has been running just fine for 7 years with tune *** as needed. After they left the ** stopped cooling. I called a ac company to help on the weekend and the found no Freon. They checked for leaks and there are non. They said only way for Freon to be released is that the tune up tech let it out on purpose. I seek reimbursement for the Freon release and replacement.Business Response

August 2024 The amount involved is $ ********* I was shopping for a HVAC, a salesman ( **** ******* ) visited my home, at ************************************, we discussed the available options, he explained to me that they work will GoodLeap, he request my information, contacted GoodLeap and informed me that I was approved, and the monthly payment was $182.00, I agreed to the terms, he said he could start in installation the following day, I told he that I was not available on that day which was a weekend, the technicians arrived the following week and commenced the installation.After the installation I left the Country for 2.5 months, and I received a call from my eldest daughter that she had received a text message from Cool Today with an invoice for the full amount, on my return I tried to contact Cool Today billing department to no avail, I contacted ******** and they informed me that they needed my income verification, I sent them my last pay ******** I have received a call from a collection Agency threating to take me to Court for the full amount.Business Response

I was shopping at ********** when I was approached by a representative offering an ****************** for $29.99. The service was to include a standard maintenance check of the ** unit. I agreed to the service because I thought it was a good deal for preventative care, even though my unit was fully operational. I was visited by a technician of Cool Today, and after a ***** min visit, the technician told me I would eventually need a capacitor for the system. When the technician arrived, he immediately attempted to up-sell services and products. We are in our eighties and on a limited budget. The technician left my home and a few hours later the ** was no longer cooling. I checked the thermostat and noticed that he had also left the system in the *** > On position. When I called them back, their staff insisted that the technician had recommended a new capacitor and that I pay $300. Cool Today refused to accept accountability for this unprofessional, likely fraudulent act. It seems to me that the technician either sabotaged the unit to fail, or accidentally damaged the unit and did not admit to it, then claiming a failing capacitor as a diagnosis in his recommendation to account for the system's fail. My unit was working prior to the visit by Cool Today and it is highly suspicious and too coincidental that it would fail just hours after the technician's visit. I am an elderly person and believe I am being taken advantage of. I have been left without cooling for at the last 2 days in the horrible heat and I have not received a follow-up from Cool Today as promised. ********** should also be made aware of this type of representation by Cool Today.Business Response

On May 4, 2033 CoolToday installed a Carrier Infinity central air unit at my home. I paid 18,500 for the unit and installation. I noticed about two days after installation the air handler in the garage was sweating so bad water started to puddle on the plate form it was sitting on and black mold started to grow in n the duct on top of the air handler. I contacted CoolToday and they sent out a tech who just put compound over the mold and left. The unit was still sweating so contacted company for a second time. CoolToday sent a second tech who was better than the first still did solve the issue. Since this unit has been installed I have had 8 visits from the company to fix the issue with it not being resolved. I asked after the third tech to have the unit replaced but that didn’t happen. I had to wait 3 months after installation for the county inspection due to CoolToday not filing the correct documents for the permit and it did not pass inspection. Oh yeah and my electric bill has gone up almost $300 dollars since they installed this unit. Now I’m not asking for much but to replace the unit with one that work since they advertise the you have two year if your not satisfied with the product they will replace it or refund the total price. Did I mention I contacted the office to speak with the operations person manager on four different occasions and he has never returned my call his name is Eddie by the way.Business Response

CoolToday did come out and change some things. The unit is still sweating but not as bad and the fan on the compressor was making noise so they changed it. But the new one was making a worse noise so they say they will come back to change it, we will see.Initial Complaint

On 10/2022, I purchased a maintenance plan with Cool Today for $199.00 which includes 2 visits for 2023. On 4/7/23 , I scheduled an appointment for 5/24/23 for a maintenance check up. I had to cancel and reschedule on 5/22/23 for 6/7/23 visit due to my work schedule at the hospital. Late afternoon on 6/6/23 I phoned and spoke to a representative to confirm my appointment on 6/7/23 and was informed everything is all setup as planned. Also, received a email and text confirming the appointment on 6/7/23. The morning of 6/7/23 , I was informed that Cool Today no longer services the 32801 area and I would receive a full refund of $199.00 in 5 - 7 business days. Why did it take the morning off of visit for them to realize that they don’t service my area and have been holding my $199 since 10/2022. I have sent several messages and still have not received my $199.00 and was told on 6/22/23 by Thomas P***** that he will follow up with accounting. On May 18 and 19, a new plumbing system was installed at a cost of $7875.40. Refrigerator was moved, became inoperable. Had it fixed for $217 on May 20. Lost $265 in food. On May 22, asked for repayment. Was offered $300, said yes. On May 24, was refunded the $1000 down payment. Made periodic calls to arrange city inspection. Finally, inspection done June 14. Have made periodic calls, to arrange fixing holes in walls, since with no response. I’m unsure of the problem. Cool Today has not tried to resolve this problem, to my knowledge. We are very dissatisfied with the company Cool Today. We have been waiting 7 months for them to complete their job at our home located at ***** ******** ****** ****** ******* *** *****. Per the home inspector sightings and pictures attached, this job is incomplete. The terms of our deal was half down at inception and balance at completion. Nevertheless, Cool Today have taken us to a collection agency. Therefore, we need your assistance to resolve this matter ASAP, before it affects my credit.Business Response

I am very sorry there was not a re-inspection scheduled after the failed items were addressed. I am looking into why that happened. Someone from our office will be reaching out to get that scheduled with the municipality so the permit can be closed as soon as possible.
Attached is the reason why the account was sent to collections. Mr. & Mrs. ********s account will be removed from collections once the balance is paid.

I do apologize for all the confusion and delay. I have followed up with my installation, permitting, and account teams. As of today the permit and inspection have passed, the account is paid in full, and the collection has been removed.
