If you have a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and are having an oil consumption issue DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO HYUNDAI OF NEW PORT RICHEY. Hyundai corporation had a class action to replace the faulty engine in 2016 Elantras. In our case the dealership test the engine and our car came up with the code for this issue. We filed a claim with Hyundai National Consumer Affairs and got denied. Not only did the engine need to be replaced ($10,000) because of the oil consumption issue it destroyed the catalytic converter ($3,500) which had to be replaced.Review from Steve S

This dealership is 100% a scam. Do not waste your time. An example, they advertised a car I wanted for just under 19K (used). When I asked for an out the door breakdown itemized, they added a $998 "fee" to extend the life of Hyundai's extend warranty on the powertrain, which is not needed an purely a dealer profit item that they said could not be refused. I am reporting them to Hyndai for this, I doubt they know it is happening. Now had the 'reconditioning fee" of $1200 which is usually detailing and replacing air/oil filters. That apparently was non-negotiable. You have been warned, there are plenty of other dealerships that I have bought from that do not engage in price gouging and misrepresentation. Take the time to read the other reviews as well.Review from Kimberlee M

Like recent reviewers, I too was a past customer of ********************. But - buying a car from them last month has made me change my opinion of them and I will never return to this dealership.Their initial offer was silly, low ball on my trade, crazy terms when my credit score was around 750, the perma plate, etc. But - that really didn't phase me and I believe in negotiating and we went back and forth. We agreed on the price and terms and all seemed good.Only later did I find out that I had actually been duped. The financer said "you are familiar with this process, so we will just go through this fast and I wont have to go over each document with you." I thought he was doing me a favor. Then, after signing, they give you a thumb drive (no paper contract). I decided to load the information into my computer the next morning. I was shocked at what I saw: charges for "maintenance plan" over $3000 which was never discussed; additional charge for tire plan that was supposed to part of purchase price (an added $900), but I was charged another $567, and one of the advertised incentives of $500 not being honored. I had not seen any of this because the docs are digital on a small digital pad, and you are to "hit NEXT" to take you to the next signature line so a lot of the info is either hidden or so small you can't read it.When I called about this discrepancy they said they had already sent out the contract but would send me a form to "cancel" these items and get a refund. That was mid December and I am still waiting for a refund of around $5500. Out of curiosity, I then put the thumb drive from my last deal with them into the computer since I had never read that one. I was flabbergasted by what I saw. I had also been charged a "maintenance plan" that had never been discussed with me on that contract as well. Talk about a shocker.Hiding fees is apparently a specialty at Hyundai of New Port Richey. Buyer Beware!Review from Leonard M

I have been a past customer of ******************** for Years ago with ***************** My experience with them has been 100% Amazing UNTIL this last experience in November 2023 that I'm still dealing with. 1st, I have been trying to get them to fix my tag and registration. They first transferred it (the way it should be) with my DOB that I just renewed, and then changed it to my wife's DOB which I need to renew now again, then after I told them the situation they changed back to mine. 2 weeks later I get a new registration that is back in my wife's DOB. So now I'm trying to get that fixed again, and I get crickets. 2nd, I set up auto payments to come out on the 12th of the Month and get the Confirmation letter that everything is good, just to have the payments come out on the 1st of the Month and throwing everything out of wack. Again I called to fix and crickets. So I called and resigned up for auto payments for the 12th and again get the confirmation letter that everything is good, and again the payments come out on the 1st.I called today again to get this fixed and again the crickets are there. Of all the Great Experiences I have had in the past with them, this 1 time Very Bad Experience will make me never return and will make me tell others not to go there. Only because this problem is on going and still not fixed after going on 3 Months. THIS IS 100% UNACCEPTABLEReview from Jeff E

Before I went, I estimated that Hyundai would try to get me to spend about $100 today and about $1,000 in the near future. It turned out that they want $95 today and $988 in the near future plus labor. In addition, two of the repair jobs included the cabin air filter and the engine air filter. I was showed two filters but then I went to my own mechanic and they decided to take a look at my filters as well while I stood there. The two filters that I was showed at the dealership were in fact NOT the two filters that were in my car. The two filters that I was shown were two to three times dirtier than the ones actually in my car. In addition, one of the filters wasn't even the same brand that was in my car. Hyundai of New Port Richey at Routes 54 and 19 tried to steal my money. This is why car dealerships have a bad reputation. And that is why I only go to them when I absolutely have to.Review from Rodney A

I was told by service advisor ********************** that my car needed a shifter cable and that it would cost $816.00. I took my car to Hyundai of ******* Chapel and was told that my car only needed a C-clip. They gave me the clip and wouldn't let me pay them for it.Review from GIUSEPPE C

I purchased a Genesis **** in July, at the time the sales Agent ******* was extremely aggressive and then passed me on to the head of finance named ***. *** told me that **************** would cost approx. $10,000 but it will be added to my monthly payment and was non negotiable and only available at time of signing. *** lied. Apparently it is anywhere between $1,500 to $3,000, I only found this out now in November after driving to car to Jersey and having to get it serviced and the dealership messed it up with an update. Several dealerships later, and no ETA on parts, no loaner available, and the worst customer services on a corporate level that Ive received.Review from Alicia H.

Beware! $1995.00 for permaplate and a $999.00 dealer fee is automatically added to the price of every Palisade. It was never disclosed before putting a down payment to order my SUV. If you want the vehicle after you order they give you no choice but to pay the extra $3k or you can’t get the vehicle. I was forced to pay it or walk away from the car I waited 3 months for on order. To top it off, the so called perma plate was never put on my car. I was rushed through the car buying process and there was definitely not enough time to professionally have it done even though they claim it was. Not happy! I shouldn’t have water spots before 5 k miles.

Our worst experience ever in car buying in 50 years. They showed online that they had 3 cars in the model wanted in stock. I called and Jon ("he was very specific it's Jon with no H") confirmed this. Then Jon ("with no H") called me a short time later to ask when I was coming in. About half hour later someone who identified himself as Tyler called from the dealership asking what the status of our transaction was and I said we would be there in about 45 minutes to buy the vehicle, assuming we could come to a deal. He specifically instructed me to ask for Tyler when we got there. Since they had given me a price, I was ready to go and buy, with an adjustment if necessary for my trade-in. We drove 26 miles one way to get there, excited about finally finding a car we wanted that was actually on the lot. When we pulled up a nice guy approached us. We asked for Tyler, went in, he sat us down and then we waited and waited for Tyler. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the nice man told us there are no cars that we wanted on any of their lots and he was very sorry. We asked to see "Tyler" and we were told that there was no "Tyler" and the people you talk to online or on the phone use fictitious names. This was the absolutely the most disrespectful and abusive experience we've ever had while trying to purchase a vehicle (we've purchased more than our share.)Review from Thomas P

This review is actually for ZERO STARS. I take these reviews seriously, as I am a former successful owner of a multi million dollar company. I am now unfortunately handicap having special needs. A need for a larger SUV that is easy to swing my legs in and out of. I first learned of this dealership by getting a large postcard advertising many new hybrids in stock ready for purchase. After talking to the internet department, I found this no to be true, that rarely do they ever have any in stock at all. Disappointing. However, I decided to head down to the dealership to check out the gas versions of the Tucson and the Santa Fe {Two different trips}. Both times the extensively trained salesmen could not answer very basic questions about their vehicles. NEVER offered a test drive [First time} and actually discourage me from a test drive when I suggested if i could take one. {Second Time} One of the salesmen actually didn't even know if his dealership was number one in the region. Remember he is extensively trained according to the dealership. On top of this over a several week time span I had numerous unreturned phone calls. Finally after giving up I was able to talk to the Internet Manager {*****?}, who apologized and said that he would personally handle me and would get me a test drive when i was ready. FOR EIGHT DAYS STRAIGHT I CALLED ***** LEAVING MESSAGE AFTER MESSAGE ON HIS VOICE MAIL WITH NO RETURN CALLS .Finally out of desperation I called the front desk and asked them to hand write a message from me to give to *****. STILL NOTHING. I did talk to a I believe a ***** or *** from the ******************* after all this, I was told they had no idea why he was not calling me back and what are they supposed to do because he is the Boss. After careful thought my wife and I decided not to buy from this dealership. We both kept thinking, GEE WHATS THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT LIKE, PROBABLY WORSE.
