    Attorney General Announces Settlement with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. over Cancelled Jazz Cruises
    Cruise Company to Return Nearly $1.3 Million to Maryland Consumers

    The Maryland Attorney General announced today that his Consumer Protection Division has entered into asettlement resolving an investigation into Royal
    Caribbean Cruise Ltd., d/b/a Royal Caribbean International, regarding 2021 and 2022 Capital Jazz “SuperCruise” sailings. Tickets for the cruises were sold by a Maryland-based company, Capital Jazz,Inc., but the cruises were cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic. Capital Jazz is not a party to this settlement, but Royal Caribbean has agreed to pay amounts owed to consumers who have not received refunds from Capital Jazz.

    Under this settlement, Royal Caribbean has agreed to pay nearly $1.3 million in refunds to consumers who were scheduled to embark on the Capital Jazz SuperCruises, as well as a $100,000 payment to the Attorney General’s Office.

    As part of the settlement, Royal Caribbean has also agreed to update its Resale Cruise Ticket Contracts and website to inform consumers of their ability to obtain refunds, including under recent changes to the Federal Maritime Commission’s regulations.

    Consumers who have not received a refund related to the Capital Jazz SuperCruises do not need to take any action. Consumers who have not yet received a refund will receive a check in the mail within the next three months. Consumers with questions about the Attorney General’s settlement with Royal Caribbean

      Reservation number - ******* I booked a balcony ocean view for Icon of the seas with Royal Caribbean for 06/08/2024, they assigned me a neighborhood Balcony which is not what I wanted AT ALL. I am traveling with kids and they are telling me thats what they have. They have deceiving booking/advertising through the Royal Caribbean site where I booked through where they are trying to trick people to book and not pay attention. I would have never booked such a room with kids. I spoke to two supervisors and asked that they can please provide me with two solutions. Either give me the ocean view balcony OR refund my money so I can book with another cruise line. They are refusing to do so and I am now forced to board their ship or I lose my money. tried to reach supervisors and they said they are too busy and they will call me back and they never did.

      I could see the writing on the wall that this was a terrible decision pretty soon after I booked and couldn't find any information about my cruise on the app or their website. Their customer service gives you the run around and says things like, "We are so happy to help you with this today." Then will copy and paste an answer of how you better not miss out booking another cruise and using their app without ever even addressing, probably not even reading, what you asked them about. It is awful. You know it is bad when you haven't even been on your cruise yet and your are regretting your decision. The ship I chose half the features weren't even operational like the North Star, which was one of the biggest reasons I booked the cruise. The port stops were short, the food was terrible and there wasn't much for entertainment. I am not a frequent cruiser but have been with Carnival and will definitely be booking with them again and not Royal Caribbean.
