    SITUATION OF PREDATORY LENDING AND DISCRIMINATION: On January 8, 2024, I engaged with a representative from Direct Energy of Florida, Mr. ***** following a recommendation from *************. Mr. **** presented the York AC unit as a solution to address the high electricity costs associated with my aging air conditioning system. I initially anticipated a discussion focused on enhancing the energy efficiency of my home, but Mr. **** primarily concentrated on promoting the installation of a new AC unit. Mr. **** proceeded to fill out a Direct Energy of Florida license application using my personal information, including a reported annual income of $18,000.He contacted the finance department of Direct Energy of Florida and spoke with a representative named ****** to initiate a financing application for the full amount of $36,000 at a monthly payment of $517. He assured me that the $10,000 rebate would help offset the payments, along with a promise of six months without payments and a check for $4,000 to further alleviate the monthly payment obligation.The financing application was processed through ****************** I possess documentation indicating that a reported income of $18,000 was submitted. Neither Mr. **** nor ****** inquired about my salary; their approach focused solely on confirming my eligibility to file taxes for the rebate. This is certainly a situation of predatory lending if a 70 year old women. Shortly thereafter, I had a follow-up meeting with ****************** an Energy Specialist representing Direct Energy of Florida, who expressed apologies for Mr. ****** miscommunication. She arrived while the contractors were still onsite.She further indicated that due to the unsuccessful financing deal, she was prepared to assist in establishing a new financial agreement of $517 per month with no payment delays, while also offering a check for $4,000 to facilitate the payments. I have a recorded conversation with Ms. ***** confirming this discussion.
