I found this company online when looking for a metal building company. I ordered and paid the deposit for the building online and waited months for a delivery date following permits and other things that needed to be done in the meantime. The building was delivered on 3/3/2025 when the workers got there some of them were throwing pieces of the material on the ground not caring about the damage that could be being caused. Another worker asked me for a generator I said don't you have one and he said no... I shortly found out he had one in the bed of his truck the whole time. **** one of the workers was very rude to our concrete guys that he spoke with due to blueprint issues. The next the day the building was complete. I noticed various scratches, dents, and bolts that were uneven and didn't look appropriate for the price of the deposit that was made. I contacted the office that day and they said I could send photos over. I mentioned I was not ready to pay the remaining balance due to not being happy with the final product. The owner ****** ****** finally called me and was nothing short of nasty. I asked if some of the damages could be repaired and we could come to an agreement which he responded by the threating me with a lien on my property. (which he ended up doing the next day .) He would not even hear me out just said that he always gets paid and making more threats. I have no intention of not paying my remaining balance. I was hoping to get some money taken off due to damages and coming to a mature and appropriate agreement. The conversation was so rude, nasty and very unprofessional. In the future we would be needing 3 more buildings done on the property but after this we will not be moving forward with this company...

I spoke to Mr. ********* and explained to him that if he had any complaints or issues with his structure for him to send photographs or video of the the affected area and that if they fell outside of the parameters of acceptable construction practices and the written scope of the contract that he signed that we would repair or replace any items that would fall under those guidelines. I explained to Mr. ********* that his balance due was not open to his interpretation and that his balance was due at the time of installation and as of our conversation his balance due was delinquent. Mr. ********* advised me that he was not going to pay the balance due and I told him that I would exercise our rights afforded to us under the Florida Mechanics Lien Law to allow us to recover monies owed to us for materials and labor provided. I again, reassured Mr. ********* that if there were any warrantable issues with his building that *** would absolutely take care of those issues and would not delay in any responsibility that we had to do so. As of this date Mr. ********* still has made no attempt to pay his balance due.

Tubular Building Systems erected a 30x50ft metal building on May 6-7th 2024 on my property. Upon completion I inspected the building and found 8 of my 11 trusses had substantial tears in the lower truss member bends. I withheld final payment until someone from management contacted me and we could schedule to make repairs. One week later *** ****** (owner) called but refused to do anything to fix the defective trusses. I again reached out to *** ****** to please contact me because I have a solution to repair the trusses in question and he has not bothered to listen to me. Instead, I received a Notice to Owner with intent to lien letter, then he commenced to put a lien on my property. I am a former certified welder by trade, a state registered aluminum structural contractor, and a current licensed builder and have knowledge of metal integrity. The truss component in question has 22 bends, 11 of those bends have tears beyond the welds. I have returned to Keene Building (distributor) for TBS and inspected their 30x40 model and no tears appear in the trusses. I spoke with Mike (sales manager of Keene) and he was shocked about the trusses and said they definitely needed to be repaired. I also inspected 4 other buildings similar in size in my surrounding area and also found no tears. I find TBS in breach of contract for refusing to stand behind this product and provide a sound structure. I cannot occupy a building that is unsafe when we are headed into hurricane season. I will gladly pay the remainder of my bill once TBS makes the appropriate repairs to my defective trusses and I am satisfied, but the owner has made no attempt to do so. At this point I am moving forward with an independent engineer and attorney to seek resolution to this matter if the owner refuses to repair the trusses.

I spoke with *** ******** about his concerns and explained to him that this issue has been reviewed and evaluated by licensed professional engineers in the past and that PE Letters have been provided previously. After review and evaluation the licensed professional engineers concluded in part "2-1/2"X2-1/2"-14ga with tear is adequate for compression" and "2-1/2" X2-1/2"-14ga with tear is adequate for tension". I advised *** ******** that I would have a current PE letter prepared and that as soon as the engineers had it completed that I would provide it to him. I am sure that *** ******** is well intended, but he is not a licensed professional engineer and he is certainly not the engineer of record; which is why I have encouraged him to wait until the Engineer of Record was able to complete their evaluation and PE Letter before having any discussion about what or if any modifications should be made.

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

*** ****** has had ample amount of time to address the issue and has ***e nothing but try to intimidate me. According to my first conversation with *** ****** he did inform me he had previous engineering conducting on tears in trusses from a sample that he had sent from his manufacturing plant. I asked him to forward me a copy of that engineer report, he said he would, and nearly a month has passed, and *** ****** still has not forwarded that report to me. Instead, I received a Notice to Owner with Intent to Lien. When it comes to getting a current engineer report I told *** ****** that an acceptable report should be conducted specifically on my building due to the number of tears (50% of the trusses), location, and size of tears (various sizes) with a visit from the engineer to view the trusses in question. Instead, *** ****** sent me a recorded lien on my property. I am being proactive in trying to resolve this in a timely manner and have provided *** ****** a solution to restore integrity to the trusses. The costs to add truss gusset plates is $352.00, plus screws and labor. This is much less than engineering costs would be. I purchased my building from a display model that did not exhibit any truss tears, nor did I sign a contract that indicated truss tears are common and do not compromise the integrity of the structure. I hope that *** ****** will take into consideration that this compromised building is an endangerment to my family, we have entered what is predicted to be an extremely active hurricane season and need to secure a safe building. I hope that he will stand behind his product and restore integrity to the trusses.

      Regards,

I have attached the preliminary PE Letter from the Engineering Firm of Record; within the PE Letter it clearly states that the tears in the crush bend are "insignificant" and do not affect the structural integrity of the building. Please keep in mind that we are still waiting on the digitally signed and sealed version of this PE Letter before we send it to the customer.  We have clearly stated from the very first time that a concern was voiced that we would have this analyzed by Professional Engineers and that we would respond accordingly based on the analysis of the engineers. The lien has been filed against the property to secure our rights as contractors and material providers since we have not been paid for material and services rendered. It should be noted that the customer is not a structural engineer nor are they the engineer of record for this building.

Attached is the signed and sealed PE Letter from the engineering firm of record in reference to the tear in the crush bend; it clearly states that the tears in the crush bend are insignificant, show no signs of propagating, and do not affect the structural behavior of the buildings. The resultant connection is adequately suited to support the gravity loads on the roof as well as to resist the uplift and lateral loads due to wind.

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Thank you for forwarding your engineer's report on crush bend tears. I have reviewed the report and photos that *** ****** provided to the engineer. The photos are of a minor truss tear from a set of trusses at *** ******'s fabrication plant. The engineer's report was not ***e specific to my truss tears. This report proves that my tears in my trusses are significant and show signs of propagating. I have asked numerous times for *** ****** to personally visit or have an engineer visit my building site and do a report specific to my trusses, which he declined. The photos in the engineer's report are minor tears in comparison to the tears in 8 of my 11 trusses. That is 75% of my trusses that are compromised on one side of the roof structure. In my opinion *** ****** knowingly submitted the incorrect photos to the engineer to benefit the outcome of the report in his favor. Therefore, I am requesting that all 8 of my defective trusses be replaced. I have included the photos of my crush bend tears, the propagation and suggest a visit from your engineer to conduct a proper report.

      Regards,

The licensed professional engineers have reviewed the issue and have issued a PE Letter in regards to the matter. I support the engineering firm's professional conclusion and I do not have the educational background to override their decision.

If a customer would like a site visit from the engineering firm we are always glad to help facilitate that; but it will be at the customer's expense as engineering firms charge for all of their expenses and travel and some of the engineering firms that we utilize the services of are located out of state.

I am rejecting this response because:

Tubular Building Systems is trying to evade the situation with my numerous crush bend tears in my trusses by providing their engineer with false photos and information. This complaint was opened due to defective trusses installed on my metal building by this company, not with trusses with minor tears located at their manufacturing plant. Tubular's owner *** ****** had been provided with the photos of my truss tears over a month ago and refused to have an engineer or himself come to my building site. Why would *** ****** provide photos of a minor truss tear from "his" warehouse and not the photos of "my" building? If *** ****** is so confident with the engineer's report that crush bend tears do not affect the integrity or strength of the trusses, then why didn't *** ****** provide my photos of my tear's that are 4x's larger to his engineer? *** ******'s engineer report is not compatible with the damage I have with my trusses, as you can see in the attached photo. Now do the right thing and fix my trusses because you installed a damaged product.

I purchased a building it was installed.
The ground might have had like one pot hole in it instead of adding a bag of lime. Or getting a shovel to remove the piece of grass They stick rotten 2x4 under it and use pieces of ceramic tile to level the building. The building will shake one foot either direction hitting the rv.

I have spoken to *** ***** and the building in question was installed correctly according to the engineering for that structure; *** ***** understands that open structures have a certain degree of allowable movement. We have agreed to return to *** ******* structure and to add additional bracing at no cost to *** *****. When I spoke to *** ***** on 06/13/2023 he stated to me that he desired to remove his complaint from BBB and that he was satisfied with the resolution that we have reached. The resolution for *** ******* concerns was reached prior to his posting his complaint and *** ***** acknowledged that he posted his complaint out of an anger response and he apologized and stated that he would make sure that it was removed.

I put a deposit of $428.17 for a lean to. The man drew up the plans and came to the house to look. The total cost of the building is 3835.65. The crew showed up today and started putting up the wrong building. We stopped them and tried to talk to the company. They argued with us so we told them to just give the deposit back to me. They now say I will be responsible for the whole cost even though I have no building. We asked also for a 10 foot opening and they say now it will be 9 foot which will not work.

Mr. ********** placed an order and we delivered what was ordered but it was not what he was expecting. We were able to come back to our facility and make modifications to the fabrication that was acceptable to Mr. ********** and met his needs. We completed the installation and have been paid in full by Mr. **********. 1- We are trying to get the installer to remove the horizontal chalk marks (for keeping their metal fasteners lines straight ) from all over the outside of our new metal garage building from when they built it. There are about 5 rows of blue/purple chalk lines on every side of the 24 ft x 30 ft building they installed a month ago. We asked the on site installers if they could wipe them off while they were up on the ladders before they departed. They said it would come off in the rain. We had two very heavy rains and some light rains in the last month but it is not going away. We asked the company owners last week if they could have someone come with ladders to remove it. They said we can do it ourselves! This isn’t appropriate and my husband and I don’t have ladders to do that nor should we have to remove the marks they made all over our building during install. Nor should we have to pay someone to do it. Trying to get them to just come and fix this as it is basically a “punch list” item.
2- The company owner rudely demanded our final payment within 40 HOURS of the basic initial install although the permit close out had not been yet called for or completed by the contractor as was part of the contracted services.
3- The crew stayed until 8:30 pm two nights in a row (causing us to miss a family event) and didn’t have sufficient light to work in the dark so we had to bring area work lights out for them to use. The were rushed to finished (not by us) and failed to properly chalk/seal the 4 windows in part becasue it was very late, they were tired and they were having a hard time seeing behind the sides of the trim because of the reduced lighting. The windows leaked and we had to fix the problem as the company took no action and ignored our written/email request about the problem.
4– They brought the wrong trim colors and put the building together with wrong colors and then asked for their convenience that we accept what they had done with $500 discount because they would have to deconstruct the building and it would cost them a lot to re-do it correctly per our contract order. For their convenience we agreed.
5 - Current remaining issue is the purple /blue chalk lines all over our new building which need to be wiped off!

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:The business didn’t respond to our written requests for assistance to take the marks off the building (10-14 ft off the ground) and they didn’t seal the windows after we told them in writing about the problem, instead, after we filed the BBB complaint (24 hrs later) they sent a notice about an intent to file a lien.  They continued to ignore the window sealing issue, offered $100 for us to find someone to pay to fix the marks left on the building, and said a condition of them not having a lien on our home included us removing the BBB complaint (extortion attempt) which is totally inappropriate.  We told them we would be open to amend /update the complaint about the $100.   The owners (husband and wife) were very rude and pushy, but their office staff seemed professional.  My husband and I didn’t appreciate their threats and attempts to strong arm or manipulate us as customers who paid on time and only asked for what we contracted for our garage build.

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The business ignored the initial and follow up written request to address the window sealing concerns.  Called me back yesterday to call me names, belittle me, and berate me.  We have paid in full, they accommodated the price for the wrong trim they installed and for the marks on the building left for us to remove. They ignored the window sealing and we have now taken care of it.  He had the nerve to tell me we never mentioned the windows—that’s how disengaged they are until you file a BBB complaint.  Tired of micromanaging their missed actions and being berated and the attempted bullying about filing a lien and the rude comments about our military service. Never had this type of problem before with other building companies
