      I’d like to file a complaint regarding JEA and the issue of price gauging and deposit. I’m ******* ***** & My account ********** has been with JEA over 5 plus years since 2019, over time my credit score has risen drastically over 180 points. I currently suffer from long haul Covid complications- damage of kidneys & liver which results in numerous hospitalizations, which I made them aware, due to being a victim of fraud- I lock my accounts/block transactions while I’m hospitalized. Feb 5 2024 made a payment, got ill due to COVID complications ended up in the hospital 6 days, when I was admitted of course I locked my account- I was unaware JEA had yet to run their payment as they didn’t process it same day - so as a result it was erroneously returned, which is not my fault. I got out the hospital, called jea- immediately made payment, asked for a supervisor as the amount due was completely different by $140, I was told my payment arrangements cancelled and id have to pay both balances- paid past due , sup never came online, rep states they can extend the other bal due for 2 weeks, I demanded issue be escalated as I got an email notice of a jea deposit increase of $559 being added to my account! I’ve had this account more than 5 years - how are you retroactively adding a deposit of $559 to a bill- so pending new bill is $959! Which is unethical &unfair! I know Jea has been in the news for questionable practice & criminal behavior from executives but this is unfair practice! It’s wrong and I asked for corporate 3 weeks ago. A supervisor named ***** called me 3/15 from customer service- I have the voicemail and I called her back twice with no return call, last call placed today at 10:02am. I already cannot afford the inflated price of the regular monthly payment which I’ve asked a tech to come out as I know I don’t use $309-400 worth of electricity- I’m hardly home- but to accesses this when I’m battling COVID & I’ve advised is unfair & the deposit should be removed

      They are awful. The billing system is fraudulent . Even when we are not in town for a the whole month the water and electricity bill is high exactly same as when we were in town. At some time it is even more than when we were in town. There is some suspicious billing going on. when there is absolutely no body living in the house. I get emails from ecobee stating the usage has gone down 80%!or 90% of regular usage yet the bill is almost exactly same as when we are in town. A group of attorney should go after JEA.

      We have made contact with ****************. We have created an efficiency appointment to meet with **************** and go over usage and what may be impacting her overall monthly bill. She expressed concern with her electric meter and would like it inspected. Offered a maintenance ticket, but she declined. She can call at any time to create a maintenance ticket.
