I am deeply disgusted and frustrated with Copa Airlines for ruining my travel plans. During my trip in **************, they stranded me, along with four others, at the gate without an explanation, apology, or compensation. Due to a maintenance issue requiring them to use a smaller plane, Copa arbitrarily selected us to be left behind, with no regard for the impact on our plans.I had been sick for the past 5 days and desperately needed to return home for work. Copa making me miss my flight without providing an immediate solution not only ruined my vacation but added immense stress. After ignoring my requests for help for over an hour, they offered me a new flight that wouldnt departed for another THREE DAYS. When I told them I was sick and needed to get home, they suggested that I should buy a new flight on my own, which would have cost me over $2,800.Only after THREE HOURS of my pleading did a manager offer to rebook me on a flight for next day. I was so hurt to find out that they had this option all along and despite my illness and distress they were hoping to hold on to that available seat in hopes of profiting off of another desperate customer.Their refusal at times to communicate in English left in the dark as to what was happening and whether they would even help me. Their absence of an apology left me feeling awful. An airline with an ounce of human decency would have proactively communicated about the overbooking, sought volunteers, and offered compensation. Instead, I was subjected to unnecessary suffering and anxiety. Copa should be ashamed of their abysmal customer service.Review from Jeremy N

COPA Airlines has violated my rights as a consumer by not allowing me to rebook a new flight with the credit from my previously canceled refundable ticket. I had filed a complaint with the ******. Copa is a misleading company. They always find a way to not comply with what you paid for. Either is creating or disclosing last minute random policies for changing a ticket that one already selected with no penalties fees and finding out later when making the change over the phone that a 8 day policy exists, which is outrageous. The fact that they do not put a footnote or a clear statement of this vital information when you buy and select a fare category. Unfortunately this airline has the pretty large chunk of the South America market under its control, so it is unavoidable that you have to use this airline to travel to South America from the US. Copa should be held accountable for its vast complaints and abysmal customer service. I will never buy flight tickets from this company again.Review from Simone M

I came to share my experience, but I see that there isn't much to do here as Copa probably has one of the worst ratings at BBB. They are canceling flights, leaving passengers stranded, but do not offer a refund. Here's what happened:I booked a flight through Expedia (which, unfortunately, used to be a good service and now it is gone awful). It was a long international flight, with several connections. They canceled one leg, and said they do not have other flights to get me to my final destination that day, BUT WOULD ALSO NOT PROVIDE A REFUND FOR THAT LEG (so I can book a new flight with another company). So they left me stranded, spending hundreds more, and taking several hours (in addition to a very long trip) to get to my final destination.Review from OSWALDO A

Copa Airlines en conjunto con United Airlines son las aerolineas mas ladronas, por que cobran lo que les da la gana y cuando les da la gana, ponen en sus paginas un costo de las maletas y cuando uno hace el check-in salen otros precios o uno va al aeropuerto para que le puedan ayudar alguien servicio al cleinte y la gente que tiene en servicio al cliente no es capacitada para tratar bien al cliente, no dan ******** y uno como cliente tiene que terminar pagando, para no perder el vuelo.Las aerolineas deberian comunicar bajo mail si hay cambio no solo de los vuelos si no tambien cambio en los costos.Dejen de ser ladrones y robar a la genteReview from Arika B

Called multiple times to pay for my infants ticket. Their system kept saying I was missing a number. This was after we tried 3 credit cards multiple times. The agent on the phone just told me to pay at the airport. Upon arriving at the airport copa said they don’t have authorization to accept payment for infant tickets so I have to call and pay over the phone. Called and was told I need to pay 4 hours in advance, I was 3 hours from my plane departure. Long story short after arguing and going back and fourth I spoke to ******* ****** who’s a manager at copa and she said she would refund my ticket, I then hopped on another plane to head to my vacation. 6 months later, no refund and I disputed but somehow lost the dispute. I called to inquire about booking a flight from SJO to FLL and how to add my dog to the reservation. I was told to book and call back to add my pup. I booked, called back and was told dogs cannot go to FLL on the weekend. I spent 4hrs on the phone with them until they listened to the original call recording. They decided to assist me as they were in the wrong after listening to the call. I now have to pay $175 in Uber to get home from Miami.Review from Raisa U

I cancelled a ticket reservation with Copa and received an email confirming my cancellation as well as that I had 1 year to book a new trip and use the funds I spent on the previous ticket reservations. Called to book the new trip and use the funds and spent 1.5 hours on the call with 2 different representatives, for them to say that the email I had received in confirmation of my cancellation was not PROOF enough that I had cancelled prior to my reservation and that I could use my funds! I will not buy a ticket with them again, and hope others don't as well since they are LYING to customers and saying you can use your funds when you cancel prior to your flight, when in reality it's obvious that they did all they could to not give me my voucher ticket.Review from Kline B

They refused my entry on to a flight due to a travel form that was not filled out prior to entry in Peru; and it was also not specified as a requirement when I bought the ticket. Additionally, they do not pick up the phone on their listed support line, and furthermore took 22 days to respond to my support email.Review from Victor A

Terrible Experience with customer service. I couldn't travel due to illness in early 2022. I requested a refund and this is what I got for a response. "******** ***** (Copa Airlines) Feb 27, 2023, 12:59 GMT-5 Dear Mr. *******, Thanks for preferring Copa Airlines services. We contact you in regarding your refund request for reservation ******. We verify your ticket policies and this fare do not apply for refund. Our tickets has one year to use from the date of issue. For more information about your reservation please contact our call center. Kind regards, ******** ***** ******** ****** Refund desk | Copa Airlines" I have the impression that they don't even read the comments of why i couldn't travel.
