      I brought my Volkswagen Beetle into the Smith VW Dealership located at 4304 Kirkwood Hwy Wilmington, DE 19808. I asked for them to service my car because I needed it to pass DMV Inspection so I can drive it. I wanted to report that my vehicle has been sitting in the Volkswagen Dealership over 2 years still being serviced. Every time I reach out to the service advisor they keep prolonging it, giving me the impression that they can fix it. The service advisor contacted me just recently informing me that some fire damages were caused to the engine while my vehicle is in their possession. He asked me if I reported this to my auto insurance company. I notified my auto insurance company and a claim was filed. VW Dealership has also filed a claim through their Insurance Company. But until now no one is following up to let me know if their Insurance Company Zurich has approved this and will be fixing my car. The dealership claims from the findings at this point the shop did not cause the fire. The appraiser discovered that the fire started in the engine bay. Regardless, this is not the customers fault. This happened while in their possession therefore shouldn’t this be their responsibility to come correct. I do not want to wait another two years. I’ve been paying my car insurance all this time while not being able to use it.

      I was mislead by the financial department. I went to the dealer to purchase a vehicle which I did then returned with me my daughter so she could purchase a vehicle she was approved with no money down but her insurance was going to be 1000 per month so I was asked if I could get insurance for her I said sure then signed some paper work thinking it was for insurance even after I figured it out I went to the dealership the next day to let them know it was a mistake made they told me it was to late to make changes. I had a personal conversation with the staff when I brought my vehicle about what I’m going through with my daughter and how I was selling them my truck that I had in my daughters name to help her with her credit long story short her new car ended up in my name and now I had to go through having it repossessed because she missed the first payment. I want some of if not all the damages repaid to me for this problem I can be reached by email, text or call.

      We have had several interactions with Mr. Wilson in regards to this transaction. We do not find it appropriate to go into detail on a forum such as this one. We do wish Mr. Wilson and his family member the best in regards to this vehicle transaction.

      Bought a 2018 Ford Focus from them on Friday with 37,000 miles on it and was told it had been checked out and was good to go. By Monday morning I knew something was wrong with the front brakes, so I took it to Midas and upon inspection was shown that the front pads were down to about 1/16 thick and the rotors were scored. Had to have both replaced so it would be safe to drive. Went back to the dealership and given a complete B/S and more or less was told they would not be responsible for it. Too bad, you bought it. It's your problem now. I cannot and will not ever tell anybody to go there for a car.

      A once amazing service department now quite the opposite. I would love to say my complaint is purely because it took 10 days to replace intake runner flap motors on a 2006 Audi A6 Avant, but it isn't. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Dropped off the car on the 22nd with Bobby, a service tech, stating it had a P2006 Engine code and I wanted to get an oil change while there. They stated they would do an engine diagnosis and figure out the issues. Later that day I was told it was the runner flap motors. Asked if that is near the intake valves and was told yes, so I gave them the okay to do the valve cleaning on top of the runner flap motors and oil change as they were already there. Agreed on the work being done and I was told to put down a 500 dollar deposit for the work to be done. All paid. All good. Talk to you soon. 26th rolls around and no word from Smith VW. I call and find out that they were waiting on a gasket and it would be done "early next week". 29th rolls around and still no word, so I call. I was told that day that they were waiting on 1 bolt. And that they most likely had the bolt in house, but never checked during the 3 days. Will be done tomorrow. The 30th rolls around and I get an email, not even a phone call stating that the valves are dirty and need to be cleaned with an extra 517.50 tacked on to the quote. Even though we had already discussed and agreed on getting the valves cleaned. . . At that point I drove down to the dealership to get a better idea of why this was taking so long. The service manager, Jason Willey, was nothing but dismissive, cold, and would not take responsibility. His catch phrase being "What do you want me to do about this?". Didn't even know much of anything of what was going on, what had happened leading to this issue, and also refused to acknowledge it as an issue. I demanded that the extra 517.50 be removed from the invoice. After much headache, that was what was done. When I asked why he didn't chime in when the car had been there for a week sitting, his response was "I deal with 50 jobs a day, do you think I can keep up with them?". Just constant excuse after excuse.

      Parts delays held up the repair and miscommunication also played a role. We tried our best to make it up to the customer by discounting the repair. The customer started his complaint with "I will never do business here again," so that made it difficult to work with the customer towards a resolution. In the end, his vehicle was repaired.
