On or about Jan 13th, 2023, Service Master (SM) came to our home to clean remediate water damage and mold caused by leaking radiator pipe under our mudroom floor. The job was part of an insurance claim we filed. During the removal of our subfloor to access the leaking pipe, SM punctured our main electrical line. They wrapped the puncture in tape and did not notify us of the damage. We subsequently went to arbitration with our insurance company to resolve our claim. When we finally begin repairs, the damage was discovered by our contractor, who advised it should be repaired immediately, as it was a dangerous fire hazard. We notified SM on May 30th. They responded they would get an electrician. The following day, they had not followed up on the status of an electrician, even after a text request from us. Our contractor again advised this was a dangerous situation that should be resolved quickly. We then spoke with the private adjuster who worked on our insurance claim. He also advised it was dangerous and should be repaired immediately and he would try to attach the repair as an amendment to our arbitrated insurance settlement. SM was notified of our actions. He ultimately was unable to add it to the settlement, so we forwarded the invoice from the repair to SM for settlement. They first claimed the wiring was not up to code, which was false. They then argued we should have included it in the insurance claim, which we would have done, HAD THE DAMAGE BEEN DISCLOSED IN JANUARY, before arbitration. The next excuse was they had an electrician ready and we shouldn't have repaired it on our own. At no point was it communicated to us an electrician was available. They finally acknowledged and said they would pay for the wire damage but as the attached invoice notes, the electrical box also needed to be replaced once the wiring was pulled out. SM is refusing to pay for the cost of the box, even though the replacement was a direct result of having to replace wiring.
