On June 22, 2023 I went to Mike's Car Wash Detail & Lube to have my oil changed. My oil and air filter were changed and I paid $95.66. On July 12, 2023 I was driving down ** *****, and as I got on the highway, my oil light came on. In approximately an eighth of a mile, I heard a noise and slowed down. I tried to pull over to the side of the highway, but found that my wheel wouldn't turn, my breaks only slowed my car down if I pumped them, and I got ready to pull my emergency brake. Thankfully, I rolled to a stop on the highway at the Service Area around exit **. My car exterior looked wet. There was fluid dripping out of my car. My six year old and I stood far away from my car and waited for ***. I had my car towed to my mechanic and it was determined that not only did my oil filter pop out (it was found on the frame of my car), but it was determined that HE USED THE WRONG OIL FILTER, and my engine blew. I went to the shop to explain this to him, he wasn't there but we spoke on the phone. He told me, "this is impossible," "if it pops out, it usually pops out in a day," "Why didn't you tow it to my place?" "I wont accept pictures of it on the tow truck, you should have taken pictures when the car died" He told me "Your car was ****** ** when you came here," He then told me, "Nice try though, you don't make sense so I'm telling you this is how it's going to work, you can leave my shop and you're crazy." I contacted my lawyer who sent a letter stating I would be seeking legal support in making the situation right. The letter was ignored. My lawyer sent another letter, this time certified, and someone signed for it, but I did not receive a response.Business response

On June 22 We did do an oil change for this customer. We did put the right filter, She came back after several weeks claiming that filter fall off. Due to the amount of time that passed, we do not believe that this is due to our work.Customer response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: My engine did not blow several weeks later. My engine blew on July 12th and my oil change was on June 22nd. Additionally, the wrong filter was used. The filter that came out of my engine while driving had a ***** on it and my 2011 **** ******** calls for a *****.
Sincerely,

We did put the right filter. We always do safety check after the oil change completed. We Make sure filter put on properly and no leaks, if the issue is the wrong filter or lose filter then we would see the leak coming under the truck during our safety check.

I am rejecting this response because: this is the first I am hearing of such safety check. When he went to my mechanic, he also failed to mention such safety check. When I was on the phone with the owner (I was in his shop), he told me that the oil filters usually pop out within the first 24 hours.
Sincerely,

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: Again, this is the first I am hearing of such safety check. It was also not mentioned when Mike showed up at my mechanics shop, again swearing and accusing us of "setting him up," nor when he called my lawyer to also tell him that we are "setting him up."I know of at least two other customers who have had issues. My mechanic saw another car, which the engine didn't blow, but an issue that arose after an oil change at Mike's Car Wash Detail and Lube as well as a bad review on their ******** page stating they forgot to put the engine cap on after an oil change. I have since spoken to the woman who made that complaint.
Sincerely,
