Date of service was 09/09/2022 where I was charged a refraction fee of $40.00. At the time I was unaware that my *** *** insurance covered this procedure. The billing department at Consulting Ophthalmology made no effort to bill my insurance. I contacted **** *** *** to determine if they covered this procedure. I have letter attached explaining to me that it is covered. They told me time has lapsed to file this claim, but they made an exception for me. I was told to have Consulting Ophthalmologist submit the claim and they did. See Attachment. I do not have my bank records to prove. Consulting Ophthalmologist has a record of all my transactions and is aware that I am owed the $40.00. Speaking with Janet and Karen in billing dept. I doubt they would disclose or send me a statement of my transactions for all the past years I have visited this office. My health records date back to 2015.Business response

A refund of $40 was issued on 08/22/23 to the original credit card provided by the patient. There was no intention to refuse or hold the refund rightfully due to the patient. Our office, as many medical offices in the country is dealing with staff shortages, and with summer time-off the staff lessens causing some unexpected delays in our business processes. I reached out to the patient today (8/25/23) and apologized as I know his initial request for refund was on 7/31/23 which was nearly three weeks ago.Customer response
