  In June 2025, BBB contacted Newtown Medispa regarding claims in its advertising.
  
  Its website and Facebook pages include many health benefit claims related to the treatments offered at its facility.  Below is a sample of some of the health benefit claims in its advertising. 
  "Our infusions are specially formulated to provide targeted support for energy, detox, fat burn, sickness recovery, migraines, fatigue, and stress."
  "MYERS COCKTAIL IV "Helps with acute asthma, fatigue, migraines, allergies, muscle spasms, and other conditions with a mix of nutrients that includes magnesium, calcium gluconate, B vitamins, and Vitamin C."
  "Why Our Sofwave Technology Stands Out": "Clinically Proven – FDA-cleared to lift the brow, submental (under chin) area, and neck, and improve fine lines & wrinkles."
  "Around 80 percent of women in the United States alone suffer from some kind of hormonal imbalance. Men also commonly suffer from hormonal imbalances, and many don’t even know that they have them. In fact, about 39 percent of men ages 45 and older have low testosterone levels."

  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.  For medicinal, therapeutic, and ingredient claims or claims to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any illness or disease, scientific clinical evidence from human clinical trials is preferred to support these claims. Substantiation should involve human testing that is blinded, performed by an independent third party, placebo controlled, conducted on a sufficient scope of subjects, and ideally has been peer reviewed. Claims concerning overall uniquely formulated products also require testing on the combination of ingredients in the product.  Specific ingredient claims also require substantiation.  The business did not respond to BBB.
  
  Its website states, "DID YOU KNOW? Newtown MediSpa is an Allergan “high volume” practice, ranked #1 in Connecticut and in the top 0.5% of practices in the nation" and "We perform more injections than 99.5% of the practices across the nation." Its yelp.com page states "Ranked #1 in Connecticut and in the TOP 150 in the nation for Botox, Juvederm & Coolsculpting."  Superlative statements in advertisements about the tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service are objective claims for which the advertiser must possess substantiation as they can be based upon accepted standards or tests. Because statements such as this can be proved or disproved, consumers may try to verify this status by looking for data to confirm how these rankings were determined. The business did not substantiate, modify, or discontinue these claims.
  
  Its website includes two Evexipel patient video testimonials. One patient states "I could not believe how different I felt..I came out of that fog...hot flashes went away..my anxiety subsided...you know something is working if you stop it and start it again and be just as happy.." In general, advertising which uses testimonials is likely to mislead or confuse if it contains representations or statements which would be misleading if made directly by the advertiser or if a consumer’s experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service, unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses what the expected results will be. The business did not substantiate this claim or indicate what the expected results would be if this was not a typical experience..
