My vehicle was stolen around August 17th 2021 in Bridgeport CT. I received a call from Mario's auto body on October 5th 2021 asking if I was going to go and pick up my vehicle. Apparently they towed in my vehicle on either September 10th or 11th 2021 and I was never notified. I went to see my vehicle damaged with parts missing and they told me if I wanted it released it had a storage balance of over $1,000 but they would release it for $800. Because I was only notified on October 5th I think I should only be paying 1 or 2 days of storage.Business response

We understand the headaches of having your vehicle impounded specially after being stolen. For clarification, regardless of the exact date your vehicle was stolen, it was only impounded on September 10, 2021 as directed by the Bridgeport Police Department. After all police impounds, the Police Department contacts the vehicle’s owner, or any other contact listed on the stolen vehicle report filed by the victim - I am sorry if that did not happen. I went completely out of my way and personally looked through public records, telephone directories and other sources until I was finally able to contact your after trying a fair amount of phone numbers, and again, that is completely out of our service scope and was done at no extra charge, I really apologize if I could not get a hold of you sooner.
Regarding the damages in your vehicle including the missing parts, your frustration is completely comprehensible, although that was the condition of the vehicle before the impound, after being stolen for nearly four weeks; it is unfortunate and common among cases like yours.
As for the balance, we were able to offer you a substantial discount on your tow and storage fees, even so, we were not able to please you as your offer was less than 60% of the amount due.
****** I again apologize for the situation, even though it seems like a completely different entity did not follow the regular procedures, it is possible that you would never even know your vehicle was found without our intervention since none of our letters sent out were ever replied to.
I tried my best to find your contact information everywhere I could look for it in good faith, it saddens me that I was not able to do it faster. I hope we get to help you sometime in the future.
