In December 2021, CM Construction replaced the plastic lining & carpet in my crawlspace. After the installation, I went out of town for two weeks. When I returned, the carpet was saturated. The drainpipe from the whole house humidifier had been knocked off its drain. I contacted Luke Covais whom I had been dealing with about the situation. He stated he checked everything when the job was done & everything was OK. He denied any wrong doing. I stated no one but his crew was in the crawlspace & someone had knocked the drainpipe off the drain. He stated something else must have happened, like my humidifier was not working correctly & I would have to pay for a plumber to check it out. My humidifier was working perfectly. He still refused to accept any responsibility for his company's mistake & did nothing to rectify the situation. I am 72 years old. I removed the carpet & the plastic sheet myself & I reinstalled them without any help from CM Construction. Claudia P*****

We were contacted by Ms. P***** in early November 2021 with a request to estimate the removal of moldy carpet and installation of a moisture barrier and new carpeting in her crawl space. On November 8, 2021, Ms. P***** agreed to our estimate ($2,312.76 which included a 10% discount) and we scheduled the work to be performed on December 20-21, 2021. Typically, we require customers to sign a contract with us and pay a 50% deposit prior to scheduling the work, however in this case due to the nature of the project (very small in comparison to our normal sized project) we decided to delay requesting any payment until the project was completed. On December 20, 2021, myself and two employees arrived at Ms. P*****'s residence. Previously, Ms. P***** had agreed to remove everything from the crawl space prior to our arrival however, we ended up needing to remove numerous items. We also removed other items for disposal at Ms. P*****'s request. We did not charge her for the additional time needed to do this. That day, we completed the removal of the moldy carpet and the installation of the moisture barrier. On December 21, 2021, I personally met my carpet installer at Ms. P*****'s residence to ensure they understood the scope of work. They completed the installation of the new carpet that afternoon. At no time during those two days, did any of my workers or I see any leaks or a disconnected humidifier hose. Additionally, it was not until December 20, 2021 that Ms. P***** informed us that she would be out of town for 2 weeks and that we would need to work directly with her "housemate", Mr. B***, on the project details and completion. At no time during the 2-day project did Mr. B*** or Ms. P***** notify us of any issues or problems with the removal and installation of the carpeting in the crawl space. We invoiced Ms. P***** on December 27, 2021 for the full amount of the project. This was a slight delay to our typical invoicing schedule due to the holiday week. We never received payment. Ms. P***** contacted us on January 5, 2022 to inform us that a leak had occurred in the crawl space. I personally went there that day and noticed that Mr. B*** and/or Ms. P***** had already moved items back into the crawl space. At that point she accused me of knocking the humidifier line out and causing water damage to her new carpet and moisture liner. As discussed with Ms. P***** on January 5, 2022, I was willing to bring my plumber over to assess the damage and make any necessary repairs however, I did not take responsibility for the knocked-out humidifier line as I personally inspected it as fully operational and in-tact on December 21, 2021 and Ms. P***** and/or Mr. B*** had already moved items back into the crawl space. At that time, Ms. P***** was extremely confrontational and cursed at me numerous times, stating that she was sick and unable to deal with this at that time. Despite feeling threatened by Ms. P*****, I encouraged her to reach back out to me when she was feeling well, pay the invoice in full, and I'd be happy to fix the issue and replace and/or reinstall the carpeting once the leak was repaired. On January 13, 2022, Ms. P***** emailed me with an invoice from *** ********* that the humidifier was working as expected and that it appeared that the line had been knocked out. Our invoice remained unpaid and there was no further communication with Ms. P*****. This is the first and only negative review our small, local, veteran-owned company has ever received, and I continue to be willing to work with Ms. P***** on a resolution to this matter.
