I went to the emergency room to have an emergency adenectomy on 7/17/2022. I received the emergency surgery and was discharged from the hospital. During the procedure in the hospital I received multiple different providers which billed me and my insurance separately. I repeatedly logged in to the Centura portal to view the after procedure note from the surgeon to find what specifically was blocking my appendix and caused the appendicitis as it appeared on the abdominal imaging performed at the hospital. Also this is the billable document required by my insurance. I did not see the document in the weeks following my procedure and stopped looking. In January of 2024 I was served at my home with legal papers stating I was being sent to collections for this unpaid bill. I was highly confused as I had not received any communication written or otherwise that I still owed this bill. I called the **************** to ask what was going on. The person who answered the phone pulled up my file and stated they sent me a bill immediately after the procedure, then after 30 days made exactly one phone call to ask about the collection but cannot confirm that they spoke to anyone. By 60 days after the surgery they received a response from United Healthcare that their bill made up the majority of the deductible and that payment would have to come from the insured (me). The employee then informed me that they immediately referred me to collections at which point I could not have paid the ************ directly anyway. The collections agency made no attempts to contact me, sent me no statements, invoices or bills and waited until 2024 to begin the Jefferson County Procedure For Civil Money Cases. Colorado Surgical is using the court system at significant expense to the public and its significantly greater access to professional legal services to avoid having a professional accounting department like every other business does, at significant risk and peril to those with emerg
