Project was a basement dig and remodel. Started in Feb. 2022 and didn't complete until Sept. 2023. Final payment made on 09/08/23 in good faith that the final outstanding items are completed. Multiple issues exist with this contractor, but I am only asking for a refund of money for the tile work completed in the shower. I have hired a new contractor to complete the work at a cost of $1,995. The workmanship left was very poor and has gone unresolved and unresponsive by the owner. Multiple emails, texts, phone calls to his mobile and office numbers are unanswered. 1) Shower pan tile repaired in the punch list but the worker used Almond color grout and not the Gray grout. I was told this would be corrected after I paid my invoice, but he was fired later that day. Another worker reviewed the work on 10/05. He said that the grout was not properly sealed and that it would have to be fixed. He left the company shortly thereafter. I have not been able to get a response from the owner on settling this matter. A fix requires a demolish of the tiles and completely redone to correct it. I am paying this out of pocket of ~$2k for labor and materials.2) The excavating workers broke a side window on the house. It was left like that for well over a year and when replaced, only replaced the glass and not the window. This left the window casing as unrepairable, sealant messy and will have to be fully replaced when I am able.3) Electrician subcontractor has threatened a mechanics lean on the house. Castle Building has not paid his invoices ($6785) to the electrician even though I paid in full to Castle. The owner and his accountant have discussed, but the accountant refuses to speak to me directly about it. The owner has not addressed this with me and is unresponsive. 4) Accounting and budget never added up. In Aug 22, budget was 2x the original quote from $215k to $412k. Owner was obstinate and refused to discuss financials. Company should be investigated.Initial Complaint

On 4/16/2022 I signed a contract with this company to dig out my crawlspace into a basement and finish out the basement. This agreement included rehooking up the furnace, ordering a new larger AC unit, ordering cabinets, finding and reconnecting the downdraft, rough-in plumbing, electrical, insulation, and new gas lines. None of these items were completed and the contractor was already paid. Now we are without a furnace with the weather already turning cold here in Colorado. The contractor has almost double the cost of the original project. The contractor has not paid his subcontractors who are now putting a lien on our home. Plus the electrical sub will not place his license since he has not been paid so the inspections can not take place and the contractor states he is out of money. We are stuck without a heat source for our home and our project is not completed.
