I am filing this Better Business Bureau complaint against a Lawn Doctor. I, today, received an adverse credit action in my Experian credit file of an outstanding debt owed in the amount of $35.00 since 2017!!?Shocked by this situation, I immediately contacted Experian credit bureau to find out more about this activity. I would learn this is the second time this same company has attempted to blemish my credit file with fraudulent and invalid reporting. The initial adverse incident against my credit would be removed years ago yet again somehow, the company would report negative information against me. The credit bureau would inform me that this is illegal and therefore the company shouldn't be reporting adverse activity again since it was removed before. Experian indicated they would reach out to Lawn Doctor and request this not happen again given it was done before in error. The account in question dated back to 2017 which is almost 7 years ago!! Again, I have never had any service provided by a Lawn Doctor. It is fraud to use my information as this company is doing twice. It is a predatory practice and outright harassment. I request a cease and desist from their fraudulent activity. I am filing this report against Lawn Doctor as a result. I no longer want to receive harassing reporting to my credit file from them ever again. I am requesting they immediately remove this adverse information from my credit report AGAIN as their reporting of my information was found in error and invalid years ago and resolved. fraudulent activity.

****************** did indeed sign up for service on 2/6/2017. The service in question was performed on 3/1/2017 at a discounted rate as we would with all new customers. Lawn Doctor would never provide service without being requested to. We have name, phone number, email and home address in our database which would only occur if the customer contacted Lawn ********************** to provide service. This is the only time we have ever invoiced ****************** and is the only time we provided service. The invoice in question is absolutely a valid bill for service provided that was not ever paid for. Lawn Doctor sent several statements and placed several calls regarding this outstanding invoice. All communications were ignored. Once the outstanding balance is long overdue it does get turned over to a 3rd party for collection. Unfortunately this invoice is so old it's no longer money owed to Lawn Doctor, it is money owed to American Profit Recovery. All records indicate Lawn Doctor was contacted for service, service was rendered as requested, service was never paid for. Unfortunately the amount due is valid.

I am rejecting this response because:

You obviously have the wrong person. This debt is almost 7 years old. And given it was removed once from my credit file and yet again appear just before the 7-year statute is suspect.

Can you provide any other information proving your allegation other than my address and name? Please provide a service contract where I have signed up for alleged service other than a name and address. You could have gotten this information from any public record or even the trash as far as I am concerned. Again, you actions have proven to be predatory in nature and harassment. I am once again requesting you remove this adverse information from 7 years ago or this complaint will remove permanent and I will find additional methods to force you to do so.

      Sincerely,
      *************************

      Hi BBB,

The company has stated they did indeed provide service. I vehemently object and state I have not signed up for any service with this company. I have requested they send me a contract stating otherwise which I am assuming will have more sensitive information such as my signature, social security number, etc. I am awaiting to hear back. If they can't provide any business contract where I have signed my name and agreed to this alleged service, it is fraud and invalid. Unless, they agree to remove this invalid and fraud activity from my credit report, this post remains.

I visited the BBB website and have seen many instances about this company where this company billed individuals in error and fraudulently for "***************. It appears the company shows up at residences without the homeowners consent and perform services. Again, this is predatory! I have not used any service with this company and expect, rather demand, they immediately remove this adverse information from my credit report. This has happened before and it was removed and it is happening again.

      Regards,

      *****

See attached documents showing customer sign up, confirmation of services to be performed, after service emails and payment reminders. Outstanding balance remains valid.

      Customer response

      11/03/2023

I see the company provided various statements with my name and address on them. Still yet, I would like to see something more valid, i.e. a SIGNED service agreement. What you have provided means absolutely nothing in regards to providing proof of service. Again, I have never signed up for any service with this company and I request they immediately remove the adverse information which has appeared on my credit file a second time. It's obvious the adverse/ negative information was removed when it was reported previously because of error and if that wasn't enough, the disgruntled company is attempting to do so again.

I request the company remove the adverse information or this complaint will remain on the BBB website for fraud. In addition, I will have the negative information removed with the ****************** Their choice.

      Regards

The customer is demanding a resolution that is simply out of our power. Lawn Doctor has no way of repairing credit scores effected by non-payment of invoices. We do not require signed contracts for program services, so this is something we cannot provide. At this point the debt is 7 years old. The only way we would ever have this customers e-mail, name, address, phone number in our database is if he contacted Lawn Doctor to render services. Customer is claiming he never asked for service...this is clearly untrue.

      Complaint: 20812427

I am rejecting this response because: they have fraudulently reported adverse information to my credit report. The previous instance I dealt with this years ago, the adverse information was removed for obvious reasons. Here again, this company has again reported adverse information against me. There is no excuses for this fraudulent and harassing behavior. Based on their response and their inability to do anything about it, I request my formal complaint against this company with the Better Business Bureau remains on file/ website. There is nothing additional to discuss.

      Sincerely,

On May 15, 2023 a company truck showed up un-announced and unexpected did not notify me they were here, claimed to do an aeration because we were on an "annual plan" that we knew nothing about. There is NO contract with this company by ** to perform service on our yard. They claimed to have mailed ** notification 7 times and texted. We never received notification by mail nor text, although we did get new phone numbers. But we did not get mailed notifications. The company then EMAILED me the day after service with an invoice for $88.50. I find it MORE than suspect that they emailed the invoice to our email address but NEVER thought to notify ** of an upcoming service via email. Worst yet, we had aeration done 5 days before the tech got here which I imagine the tech noticed because I watched him leaf blow my driveway, start and then stop aeration without finishing and the tech left without even went into our backyard the service I was billed for includes FRONT and BACKYARD.The company refused to admit their fraud when we called and only offered to SPLIT the cost of the service with **. A service NOT completed.

      Hi **********,

Sorry I couldn't get ahold of you, I left a voicemail. I'm sorry about the confusion. This was certainly unintentional, we were under the impression that you wanted to continue your annual aeration plan. Although I do show several renewal emails and letters went out, since you have no recollection of receiving them I will be happy to resolve the outstanding balance. Especially if our ********* completed half of the lawn. There is $0.00 due on your account and it has been cancelled.  So sorry for the mix-up & feel free to call me if you have any further questions or concerns.

We purchased and pre-paid for annual lawn service. This is our third year with lawn doctor. Our backyard was green and healthy in June but after the June lawn service several sections of grass were dead within a few days. We called to complain and they sent a lead technician out who claimed we had winter mites and fungus. He treated the lawn at no charge. The result was more of our lawn dying. Nearly half of our backyard was dead at this point. We called to complain again and a supervisor came out and treated it again. More lawn died and no improvement was noted. We cancelled the remaining three services we pre-paid and asked for a refund. They said they would refund our money but never did. They are now not responding to this and trying to get us to pre-pay $493 for next years service. This is questionable business practices at best and is theft of services. We no longer want to be customers of this business.

      Hi ******,

I show the account was cancelled after the data for the pre-ay letter was sent. I do show a refund was just issued on 10/10 back to the **** you initially paid with. I show there is significant mite activity and fungus in your back yard. I recommend winter watering, sharpening the mower blades and raising your mower height to prevent this issue from worsening.

I do show the account as cancelled and the refund has been issued. Please let me know if I can do anything else for you.

Last year in October I contacted LD to service my yard in 2022 for weeds. First, they called a phone number I did not give them (you can ****** our address and get the land line, but we never answer that). They failed to call the phone number I directed them in October to use (one attached to this complaint).I got home after 5pm on March 21st to hear they left a message saying they were servicing my yard tomorrow, 3/22/22. If they would have used the correct phone number I would have been able to tell them that would not work with the snow and they'd still have a customer.First, because they did not use the phone number I gave them when I called them I only got an answering service. I left a message. They did call me the next morning and I explained that one, they called the wrong phone number and two I did NOT want them servicing my yard as I still had snow in several areas. I was so upset I told them to cancel the service. I was told okay. However, when I got home that night the technician had already been to my house before 8 am that day. I called the next day and the girl told me I would not be billed and they would cancel the service.Yesterday, 4/14/22, I received an email with an invoice that was generated 4/14/14 for $34.99. I expect them to close the account as I asked and was told they would do and they need to remove the charge as I'm not paying for a service you did not have the right to do with snow on my yard still. My account with LD is ******

      Hi ******,

I'm glad we were able to talk. So sorry for the mix up & thank you for your patience in dealing with this issue. I was sure to reverse the service and send an updated statement showing $0.00 due. I was also sure to cancel the account as originally requested. This was certainly unintentional. I'm sorry you had to escalate this issue & will be sure to address everything discussed. I hope you have a wonderful day :)

On October 28, 2021 at 2:05 PM, two technicians (******* *********** was one, according to the bill) from Lawn Doctor of Denver showed up unexpectedly and unannounced to do lawn aeration at my home address. I informed them that I did not call for any lawn work to be done and asked them to leave without doing the work, and they complied. I then called their main number (303) 936-8001 at 2:18 PM that day (according to my phone records) and informed their office of the situation, told them no work was to be done, and that I was not to be put on their list for continual service. While they claim to have called in advance to notify me of service, my phone records do not indicate that they did so. I understand that they have a policy of "service is continual". Which is why, when I have used their services, I have told them repeatedly that I only want a one-time service, and to never put me on their continual service list. I have a two specialized systems in the yard which need preparation before lawn work (particularly aeration) can be done without damage to them, and I have a dog who is often in the back. Having them show up unannounced is not acceptable because the safety of their workers and my dog, and the prevention of property damage to these systems cannot be ensured if I don't know they are coming. They have billed me 5 times for $69 for aeration that wasn't asked for, nor performed: a paper bill on 10/28, emailed bills on 10/29, 11/20 and 11/22, and a mailed bill on 12/3, I called them again on 11/22 at 3:52 PM to ask for the charges be cancelled, and to again be permanently removed from their repeat service list, which I was assured that they would do both. However, I'm still getting billed. The bill from 11/22 is attached. I am looking for the $69 bill to be cancelled, to be removed from any and all contact/repeat work lists that they have, and to have no further business with Lawn Doctor. Showing up unannounced isn't a safe business practice.

      Hi ******

I'm so sorry this occurred. It was certainly unintentional & I'm still looking into why the aeration wasn't taken off the schedule correctly. Also I'm trying to get the the bottom of why notification was not given prior to scheduling the service. Ironically it looks as though the outstanding amount was written off on 11/22, the same day the invoice was printed. I show no amount due and was sure to e-mail you an updated statement reflecting this. The account has been cancelled and no further services will be rendered unless requested. Please accept our apologies & let us know if there's anything else I can do to make it up to you. Feel free to call ************ and ask for Scott if you have any further questions or concerns.

Lawn Doctor sent a bill to collection agency. I contacted Lawn Doctor and talked to Scott 05-27-2021 and canceled service. Talked to Jennifer on 8-11-2021 she said she would take care of the collection notice. I received another notice and talked to Jennifer on 08-24-2021 she said there was nothing owed and said she would call American Profit Recovery. I received another notice on 09-14-2021 talked to Bobby at Lawn Doctor she stated that they had sent a letter to the collection agency stating there was no collection. Received another notice today 10-02-2021. I want this company to carry through with what they said and get American Profit Recovery to stop sending notices on things that don't exsist.

      10/06/2021

Hi ******, I did cancel the service on 5/27 at the time there was an amount due for services rendered on 5/14. the problem was when Jennifer wrote off this amount due on 8/11. unfortunately Jennifer resolved the amount due in our database but never put a cancellation in with APR. When Bobbi looked at the account it showed $0.00 due but she was unaware of the collection status.

I was absolutely sure to put in a stop with APR on Tuesday to resolve this issue. You will no longer receive letters printed after Tuesday 10/5/2021.

      Thank you for your patience.
