I signed a 12 month membership with ILoveKickboxing in Lakewood ** this February. I pulled my thigh muscle after my third class and couldnt walk on it for days. This made me not able to work out on it or want to continue with the kickboxing membership. The price per month is $150 a month and I cant further afford the membership due to work changes. I emailed the company at ********************, ************************* this is there marketing & operations coordinator. I let her know that I couldnt afford my membership and if there was a way to get out of it. She responded saying that I could freeze the membership or a doctors note explaining I couldnt continue with the 12 month membership and or if I was moving away. These were my options to get out of the membership. I was able to get a doctors note and then she told me the doctor needed to fill out there form. I was able to get this form filled out by my physician explaining that I couldnt work out within **** months which is over my 12 month membership. The form had boxes to check with the weeks and months that the physician was to check off. After sending this form to ***** she then told me that the **** months was still within the time frame of my membership and that I couldnt get out of the membership that it would have to just be frozen until I could work out again. My membership ends in February of 2023 how does this not fit within the only box provided of **** months? Im disappointed that Im doing as asked and then Im given another road block. This is unfair treatment and Im being forced to stay in a membership. I would not refer anyone to this company. Is this ok for a company to not allow someone out of a membership? With all Ive provided I dont feel this is right and I need further assistance with what I can do from here.Business response

The member was contacted on 3/23/2022 and their membership has been canceled. No further payments will be made and the doctor's note was sufficient enough to terminate the agreement early.Initial Complaint

I’ve agreed to do the 12 month membership because it seemed cheaper than the 6 week “program” at the time. I joined as this was once a hobby of mine. Because I am trying to buy a home I have picked up another job so I have no time for “hobbies”. I had hope that I would make time between April and now and wasn’t able to because of my hectic schedule. Hence, why I didn’t mind the biweekly payments being drafted. However, I’ve accepted that I cannot commit to the 12 months and have since been trying to get in contact with MARIA or anybody from Lakewood ilkb For that matter. I’ve been ignored, avoided for whatever reason. I cannot go into the facility CURRENTLY because I am on a ten day quarantine. They made sure to get in contact and blow me up when my payments declined a few months ago though when I was on an unpaid LOA from work and broke though. I don’t care for the money LOST but I care about the integrity lacked when I am doing my part to cancel membership to save !Business response
