I contacted *********************** ****** Hardwood Floors) via email 4/4/2022. The scope of work was defined as: Install of 264sf new hardwood floor, sand 321sf existing hardwood floor, "lacing" new floor into old, and stain/seal all 585sf. 264sf of existing carpet to be removed, and I agreed to remove it.4/6/2022 I received an estimate, which I was agreeable to. We met on 4/7/2022 to sign the contract, and I also gave **** a payment of $1,900. He said he would start work on 5/2/2022.On 4/8/2022 **** delivered the floor material to my home. I had just removed the carpet and when he saw the existing substrate, he began to explain it was not acceptable to use under the hardwood, and that he would not work on my project unless it was removed/replaced. I didn't want to add more cost, so I questioned him about it. He lost his patience and got angry, using swear words and being unprofessional. I later researched it myself, and learned what **** said was true. I did replace the substrate myself, but was unimpressed with ****** behavior. On 5/2/2022 **** said he would arrive at my house and begin work between 8:00-8:30am. He didn't arrive until 9:30. When he came into the house, we began discussing the plan for the day. I reminded him of the importance of lacing in the new flooring and the old, and he said it would not be possible. This is the first time I had heard this, and explained that this was something I requested from our initial communication and was critical to the project. We argued about it and then he walked off the job. He should have said that early on, instead of waiting until the day work was supposed to start! After he left, I tried to contact him and he ignored me for 4 hours. When he finally got back to me via text, he said he was going to cancel my contract!I still have the floor material and it still needs to be installed, even if it's not ****** ********* to ****** estimate, the material cost $1461.20. Since I paid $1,900, I'd like a refund for $438.80

No He still owes for taxes and delivery.
I'm not cutting into asbestos. And I'm not arguing over the project and continous problems the entire project. He has the material go find someone other than me. I'm not going g to be able to satisfie his request. Between men I'm explaining to this mam just how difficult it it to remove he just does not get it and give me a big problem over it. He contacted me a year prior, I ask if I could look at the job he refused a d sent me a drawing. I'm not arguing over things if it's a hassle we will part ways. He isn't willing to listen to me and take my advice I cant help him.

      Better Business Bureau,

I have long respected the BBB, and have leaned on your rating system to help in selecting companies to work with who are of integrity, and quality. Based on the experience I have had with J&M Hardwood Floors, I am simply shocked, and appalled that the Better Business Bureau has granted an A+ rating to J&M Hardwood Floors.  I will be highly disappointed if, after this is finished that J&M Hardwood Floors continues to maintain this rating.  It will force me to look to other sources for reputable information regarding companies in the future.

*********************** of J&M Hardwood Floors is not a good communicator, and is highly unprofessional (I have attached a transcript of our entire text message conversation to provide the BBB with an indication of just how unprofessional *********************** is).

*********************** claims in his response to the BBB that he "requested" for me to send him a drawing.  Ridiculous!  When I reached out to him last year on August 8, 2021 to solicit the project, I actually INCLUDED my drawing (please see attached Email file proving this).  He never asked for it!  Not sure why this even matters, as when I reached out to him again this year to start the project back up, I provided him with a new drawing.  Again, absolutely ridiculous!

When *********************** abandoned my project on May 2nd 2022 (the same day he was supposed to start work) he also cancelled his contract with me. Honestly with all the difficulty and stress this man has brought to my project (when it should have been very simple for a person of 30 years in this business) I'm fine with the cancellation of the contract.  I actually completed the project myself in less than a week, and I did what this "professional" said could not be done.  He says he doesn't want to "cut into asbestos", but no proof exists that asbestos was present on site.  If *********************** suspected asbestos on my project, he should have requested an asbestos test be done before making any assumptions and/or statements regarding the matter. Not my problem.

At this point, I simply want the refund that is owed to me.  **** admits in his text messages (again, submitted as an attachment to this message) that he owes me a refund of $216 dollars.  He also states in his text messages that he sent me a check in the mail on May 9th, 2022.  At the time of my writing this reply, it has been ******************************************* the amount of $216 from *********************** of J&M Hardwood Floors. The ambiguity found in his responses to sending me a refund are absolutely ridiculous, and unprofessional. He states that he doesn't want to "open a can of worms any further", but if this were true, his response to the BBB simply SHOULD have said, "I will get ************************* a check for $216 just as soon as humanly possible to take care of this".  Instead he opened a can of worms...

I strongly suggest the BBB review all the information that I am submitting here, and re-evaluate the A+ rating given to J&M Hardwood Floors.

      Thank you,

      *************************
