I was so happy when I got my Blue 2020 **** Wrangler JLU. That quickly changed when I started to have clutch issues. The clutch was intermittently sticking in the down position when pushed down all the way. The issue was happening during covid so I waited until Aug 2021 when things started to get better. I took it in to Berthod Motors where I purchased the vehicle. The issue was so intermittent that they couldn't duplicate the issue but blamed it on a leaky hose. Im a mechanic myself and would have noticed a leaky hose. A few days after picking up the **** the issue continued to happen. I called Berthod and the person on the phone informed me that the issue was so intermittent that i should wait until it happened more often so they can diagnose the issue better. There was nothing else they could do at that point. So I waited where issue had gotten so bad that it started becoming a safety issue. I took it back to Berthod where I was able to show them the pedal on the floor. The got back to me on the same day I turned in the vehicle. At that point they said that the issue was and I quote "Clutch Disc and pressure springs excessively worn". So how could they diagnose that this time but not the first time I brought it to them? The service manager informed me that it was now out of warranty and he couldn't fix it as so. It was going to cost $2000+ to get the clutch repaired. It was Berthod that told me to wait until it happened more often. He instructed me to call **** Customer Service to see if they could help. I pleaded my case and was elated that the tech informed me that they would cover the repair under "Good will". After a few days, no one called to inform me of the next steps. I then got an email from Berthod that stated that ********** Customer Assistance stating that they are NOT covering the clutch assembly. Another company not owning up to the bad products they are selling. Never again will I own a **** or recommend one.Berthod Motors Inc Response

Bud, we are sorry this can not be a covered repair. We did run down the possible coverages to make sure we covered all bases. While we did find and repair a small leak on your visit September of 2021, this repair would not have been related to a sticking clutch pedal. We did not find, nor duplicate the sticking clutch pedal concern at that time. The small leak we did find let a little air into the system that would have caused a soft or spongy pedal feel. While this was not the original complaint, it was needing to be repaired and was covered under warranty. Now that we are 16,000 miles later, the vehicle needs a new clutch and pressure plate. Warranty covers wearable parts like clutches and brake pads for only broken, not worn out, wear parts under 12,000 miles. This leaves us no way to get coverage for the clutch at 45,000 miles. We are sorry this is not the resolution you wanted, but we have no other resolution at this point, other than replacing the clutch. Thank youReview from TL

Berthod Motors in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and its corporate affiliates left my wife and I stranded for the holidays. After having paid out of pocket for a PCM replacement on our **** Grand Cherokee that also fried our battery and alternator last December, my **** began exhibiting the same issues as before at the beginning of this December. The PCM failed and fried a battery. I contacted Berthod Motors only to be told that while the part was still under warranty, it would be 2 weeks before a mechanic could even look at our vehicle to assess if it was truly the PCM that had failed again. Without option, we booked an appointment. I had our **** towed to Berthod the night before our scheduled appointment. The day of the appointment came and went with 0 contact from the dealership, although I had tried to call and left multiple messages. I had been left with no idea that the vehicle had even made it to the dealership. I was finally contacted by the service manager the following day saying that it was in fact a PCM failure, but due to not having one in stock, it would be another week before the repair would be made. It has now been 2 weeks with no end in site. After once again not being contacted by Berthod Motors with an update to the status of the repair, I stopped in and was informed that the PCM is on backorder. The EARLIEST that the part could be available is mid January, 6 weeks after the vehicle broke down due to a faulty part being installed by Jeep. I was told by Jason, the service manager, that his hands were tied as far as not being able to make the repair any quicker or providing a rental car in between. Jason directed me to ***** direct customer service to see if they could be any help. I contacted ***** Corporate customer service line on Monday of this week. I explained my wife and I’s situation to the representative and while she was very kind, she informed me that she would have to escalate the situation and that she didn’t have the resources to actually help. It took another 48 hours for a different representative to call. Without hesitation the representative told my wife and I that there isn’t even a chance that **** would be willing to help us with a rental car and we would be so lucky to get the replacement PCM any quicker than what we were quoted from Berthod. This will be my wife and I’s last vehicle from ******* ******. My wife, a teacher, has been a huge fan of **** since she has had her driver’s license. She has personally financed over 5 different models of **** Cherokees since our marriage. Already last week she suggested that we move over to a more dependable brand such as ****** after this debacle. As a plumber in this valley, I could never stay in business, let alone stay employed if this is how I treated my clients. I would never think of or have the audacity to install a faulty part in a clients home and then leave them without water or heat after the part failed. Regardless of backordered parts. This has truly been one of the worst examples of customer care that I have seen in my life. This review will be updated as the situation progresses.Berthod Motors Inc Response
