The owner **** is condescending and not willing to make things right for mistakes the company makes. He admitted that they made a clerical error which impacted our move but was unwilling to come to an agreement on the total charge. We were quoted $850 for 3 hours with 3 movers to move our 1.5 bedroom apartment into a single family home. The day of the move only 2 movers showed up but the paperwork had the rate for 3 movers which I called out so they adjusted it to a two person rate. They assured me they would do what they could to knock it out as quickly as possible. Half way through the move they realized it was taking longer than expected so asked if they could bring over another guy which we approved since that was what was originally agreed upon. However they eventually told us they were understaffed and the third individual wasnt joining after all. 7 hours and $1600 later they finally finished. This was double the cost we were expecting and is absurd for moving a 1.5 bedroom apartment. I cant even imagine how much it would cost if we had more stuff. Our friends moved the same day we did with a different company and paid half as much to move double the items. Overall nothing that was originally agreed upon was upheld by the company and due to our moving deadline we didnt have the ability to pull out the day of which has now put us with a *************** over what was budgeted for.

We are sorry you feel that way, but we were very up front with you when we booked the job. The time starts when we get there and ends when we're done i.e., to the contract that you signed. Each move is different, there is no set value, and we wish you the best, but we cannot adjust the price.

On October 18, 2022, ************************************************* loaded 2 26 foot trucks of house hold good for transport from *************** to *******, ********. One of the last items loaded was a 60" dining table with 6 chairs. The set was 1 year old and retails approximately $6000. The movers stated they would transport the set in the truck to their facility, then wrap properly with moving pads, as they had run out of pads on location. Upon delivery in ********, I discovered they never wrapped the set and the table and 6 chairs now have extensive damage from improper transport. I've asked the company to reimburse me $500 for the table and $200 per chair. Their response is that I signed a damage waiver and declined insurance, which is true. But that was before I discovered that the movers did not wrap the furniture, as they stated they would. I would never have consented to the transport of my dining set in the manner they did. They were not honest and refuse any compensation more than $400.I believe that the damage waiver does not apply in this situation because of the movers gross negligence and dishonesty in disclosing exactly how my furniture would be transported.

Response taken over the phone from the business:

We offered more than enough to get the scratches fixed and she didn't purchase the insurance.

      Complaint: 18808897

I am rejecting this response because:

The issue is their lead mover stated they would transport my furniture wrapped and padded. He assured me they would do this at their site, as they needed more materials.

The moving team did not wrap the furniture and it arrived bad damaged.   I trusted the integrity of this company to follow through with what they promised.

Fischer's team made a mistake and the company refuses to acknowledge this.  What reputable moving company would move furniture without wrapping it?

Fischer did not provide the service I paid for when they failed to wrapping the furniture, as promised.

And the point about insurance is completely invalid regarding the furniture that was not shipped as promised.

I'm not making a claim on any items that were shipped properly, but I am beyond furious that this company refuses to take responsibility for mistakes made by its representatives.  A $6000 dining set was ruined and they take no responsibility for the fact this was wholly caused by their moving team not following through.

Fischer has seen the pictures and they know perfectly well that the dining set was not shipped properly. But they refuse to own the mistake.

I stand by my original request for $500 to fix the table and $200 for each chair.  All will have to be sanded, gouges filled, and refinished.

      Sincerely,

      *********************************

We hired ************************************************* on 12/12 to move a tree after they were recommended by the garden center where we bought it. Our Office Manager was clear on the tree's importance, value, and dimensions when she booked the reservation. We paid $120 to hold the reservation and understood we'd pay an additional $240 minimum ($360 in total).Unfortunately, the men they sent out were unprepared and didn't come with a truck tall enough to stand the tree up inside. Refusing to take any responsibility for their mistake, they charged us full price even though no services were completed.I spoke with the owner, ****, hoping they would justify their reasoning for the charges but he maintained that our Office Manager had given his team incorrect information. A claim I know to be incorrect and dishonest. When I rejected his proposed discount, a surprising move on his part considering his persistence that we, in fact, were at fault for the miscommunication, Mr. ********************** became verbally abusive. After several minutes of being harassed, berated, and finally, after threatening me with physical violence - Mr. ********************** encouraged me to "take him to court" and hung up on me.It's okay that you disagree with me, but it's never okay to speak to your customers like this.

They we're informed about the height of our box truck the day we booked the job and we were told the tree would fit. The tree was to tall for the truck and we offered to lie it down in the back. It would have fit no problem if we were to lie it down. The customer told us not to lie down his tree in the truck on that he didn't want us to move it. We have to get paid for our time, it wasn't our fault they measured it wrong and he didn't want us to move it. He lied to me repeatedly and he was very rude and disrespectful. I offered to give him half off the move as a gesture of good faith and he became very arrogant and obnoxious. So I kept it at the same rate. HE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO USE OUR SERVICES AGAIN! He's lying about threats of physical violence also!

I was made aware of the complaint the day of the move and we offered to have our professional painter come out and touch up the railing on the stairs. It was very minor scratches that easily could've been fixed, but the consumer demanded we send them to a shop to get powder coated. I tried explaining to them that it was not needed and we could easily touch it up and make it look like new. I looked at the complaint about the hardwood floor and for the life of me I could not see anything at all was wrong with it. I told them that we could touch up the paint on the railing, with a professional painter, and if they were not happy with the work we could explore other options. They became belligerent with me and my staff and I told them we would hold the offer to paint the railing but to stop calling our business. The male threatened to come down to our office and intimidated the ladies I have working there. They never accepted my offer. Jeff F******

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I had the railing company come and fix the scratches to the tune of 700 dollars, Would you have a painter fix a scratch on your car or have a professional fix it.  Jeff F***** right off told my wife take me to court , she signed a release.  Mr. F***** should be proud that he took advantage of a 70 year old woman. There turned out to also be damage to a coffee table.  I believe in karma, so what goes around comes around. The contract to move the furniture was with me not my wife.  She has no Authority to sign anything, the movers left without trying to contact me.  It should be noted that F*****. Moving had no problem moving the furniture out of the house and placing the furniture in a container with no damage to anything.

      Sincerely,

We hired ************************************************* to pack and move our belongings. The packing was to take place July 2nd and the loading on July 5th. Four packers came to our home July 2nd at 10:30 they were late by 1.5 hours also they did not bring enough packing materials for which they charged us $500 and refused to give us a breakdown of these charges. The men that came worked very hard until they ran out of materials (they made a point to tell us that they had underestimated the amount of material needed) to pack it all they only packed the Kitchen. We called the company and did not ever receive a call back. The men that came said they would let the company know they were short of material and they would need extra men to finish the move on Tuesday July 5t. Tuesday at 9:30am I called the company as the loaders were late again I did not get a call back I called a second time at 10:00am and was transferred to the dispatch manager she said the men had already left and they were only sending three men after I was told it would take at least six men to finish the job. They did not have any packing materials so she recalled the truck so they could bring more packing material they arrived at around 11:00am. At 1:30 pm they informed me they would not finish that day when I contacted the company they refused to bring more men to help so I called some of my employees and at 2:30 I had seven men helping the movers we did not finish until 9:30 pm I had to purchase more packing materials to finish the move. When I spoke with the owner and tried to explain the situation he became very belligerent with me and starting making threats of violence (to which I have a recording of this) and how he knows people and I would be sorry I asked him repeatedly to be professional which only angered him more. In the end I did not sign any authorization for the charges he claimed I owed I felt we needed to compromise but he charged my credit card without my approval for $3,692.50 dollars.

This complaint is packed with misleading information and outright lies. Yes we did not bring the right amount of packing material, but that is because the customer was not home the day we had scheduled to do a walk through at his house, he was in his truck because he couldn't make the scheduled appointment. We need to see the house so we can estimate the correct amount of boxes. On the day of the load, the 2nd day we worked for him, we were booked to bring out 4 guys, not 6. He had told my staff he was going to have his own people out there helping, we knew before the day of the move, that was expected. None of the people he had on the job appeared to be legally allowed to work in the USA, none spoke any English. I talked with ***** at 11pm on the last day that we had done work for him at the end of the job. Our guys had been working almost 12 hours straight. He had nothing but great things to say about my guys, he said he would tip them well, but he told me since he brought out his own guys he didn't think he needed to pay us. I explained to him that we do not work for free and he was under the signed and agreed upon agreement. He told me that he doesn't have to pay service providers legally if he doesn't want to and that he has done this many other times to other service providers. He had authorized us to take payment from his card and has also signed our ppw agreeing to the terms and conditions of the professional services we provided. **** Fischer

I contracted with Fischer Van Lines and paid an additional $800 for $50,000 in insurance. FVL movers broke many antiques including two wardrobes, a filing cabinet, a table. When they broke off pieces of wool Craig H**** the lead mover claimed they were shims despite my having before and after pictures. High tech items and some furniture have also gone missing A bevel glass mirror and beveled glass table cover were also broken. I have photos and many witnesses for these damages. My contract stipulates 3 26 foot trucks. I received 2 26 foot trucks and 1 15 foot. I was forced to agree once we arrived in Memphis to getting only a small amount off the original price as Craig refused to unload my furniture otherwise. I asked that they cover repairs per insurance for my furniture, but FVL claims they have to do their own investigation even though there is a damage report of some of the damages completed and signed by Craig H****. An A rating when they are being sued locally?
