This company is full of incompetence and employees have little to no actual knowledge of rules, laws, policy. Spend at least once a week on the phone trying to resolve issues. Takes months for replys or payoff letters that ypu pay to have released in 90 days. Put a hold on my account three years after a bankruptcy was discharged...so thirteen and a half years later... supervisor said it was not her problem I didn't know rules of bankruptcy. I contacted an attorney who said this was ridiculous and discharged years ago and didnt need reaffirmed because it was real estate. ***** refuses to allow online access. Filed a hail claim , was told it would take months to process and release funds. ***** has no options for local assistance or to endorse checks stating they are unwilling to assist with the process. Every employee has a different story, explanation or resolution. Supervisors are rude and hang up or disconnect calls. If rates were resonable I'd sell my soul to refinance and get away from this company! Colorado finance based in ********. BAD NEWS! This company is even shunned by contractors as being impossible to deal with. There are FAR better options with better customer service and reliable mortgage options. Don't trust your home with this company..they will do everything they can to help you lose your home!Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

I have been getting the run around for over two years regarding my request for a loan modification. When I first called, I was not informed to fill out a modification application, after close to a year later of repeatedly told it was under review and then receiving a forebearance agreement, I was finally informed of the application. Then I submitted the documentation with no response for months. I was told it was under review, and again I received a partial claim agreement. When I spoke to them again they told me the application I turned in has expired. I submitted a second application and asked for a supervisor to ensure it will get reviewed - never actually talked to a manager. Then 3-4 months pass, being told it was under review, I again received a partial loan. Most recently I requested for an explanation as to why I do not qualify, and basically my requests being ignored, as well as what is the qualifying criteria. What I received was another partial claim loan. I believe this is a stalling tactic to force me into foreclosure. I have already drained a significant portion of my retirement *** to stay afloat with my payments. I am now trying to get legal counsel on the matter.Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

I was led into a forbearance plan under the guise that "congress would pass something soon to resolve the months that were unpaid." When this did not happen, I received a bill for over ******. I attempted to follow the loan modification program but due to an "error in their system," they were unable to process it in time resulting in an attempted foreclosure. I filled out over 11 loan modification applications and called over 100 times to attempt to speak with a supervisor to get this issue resolved. In the end, I was forced to contact the state to request advocacy from a housing specialist. They were able to pressure CHFA (and their affiliates) to find the issue and resolve prior to auction. To this day, I have yet to speak to a supervisor and if it were not for calling daily for over 6 months, documenting and recording each phone call, and threatening legal action, I would have lost my home. I cannot possibly imagine, without the privilege and time to do what I did, what some are going through and those that lost their housing.Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

I am having the same difficulties and spoke with an attorney. The only way to stop this is to contact our Congress. I intend on fighting this all the way. Hard working people do not deserve this bad treatment. Just because they are a bank they think they can get away with this. They are a bunch of crooks.Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

I have had a similar experience to other customers you see below. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I was placed on furlough due to Covid in mid 2020. I notified my lender and they were very pleasant and put my loan in forbearance. When it was time to take the loan out of forbearance, I was told I had multiple options. One of the options was to request a modification, which I requested. In September of 2020, I received notice that I had been approved for a deferral (which I had not requested). I called CHFA and asked if this meant my request for a modification was denied. The person I spoke to wasn't sure, but said she does see the deferral that was offered. I was told if I wanted to accept the deferral, I would need to sign and return a document confirming the deferral was accepted. I never signed anything. In October of 2020, I sustained a severe injury which lead to surgery, a week in the hospital, and a long recovery. November 10, 2020, I received notice that the modification I had requested was approved. According to the terms of the modification all I had to do to accept the modification was pay 3 months. I have done so, and continued to pay based on the modification for over 20 months. In spite of countless calls, emails, and letters, CHFA has never updated my loan. I can never get anyone who can affect change on the phone to have any open communication. They have now moved on to foreclosure action. I am very dissatisfied.Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

Chfa is one of the worst companys to have a loan though. Last year June of 2021 we went in to a 3 month medical Forbearance after that 3 month we need a other 3 month because of job loss. We start to pay are payment on time every month. About 2 weeks ago we got a letter saying we are in foreclosure. (Wtf) they said we never turn in paperwork. This paper work we have sent in 7 time by mail email and fax. WTF ?? do you mean we never turned it in. now that we are in foreclosure we have turned I. Are paper work 3 more time we call twice a week today they said they have not received anything from us so I sent it to the again with new pay stubs and bank statements. Again wtf Chfa I think they are doing this so they. An make money off of us by selling are house. And isnt it convenient that a supervisor is never available when you need to talk to them about their idiot staff that still working from home when theres no reason why they need to be working from home anymore. They all need to get their ***** back to the office so they all know what the h*** are you doing I lose my house because of chfal I will find a way to *** the living s*** out of them.Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

I do not recommend using Chfa, if you are looking to buy a home, they are very unprofessional, I made my monthly payments, and they charged me double the price of my mortgage!! What type of business are they running, I have called and emailed Chfa, and no one has gotten back to me, this is ridiculous! This company is a joke, If you are looking to buy a home use someone else, even if they have a higher rate, you will be more satisfied with their customer service than the way I've been treated with Chfa, they need a ************* up start over because your company is awful. If I could give them a lower rating I would.Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

Loan servicing though CHFA was half asked. Their customer service was sub-par. Automated phone servicing was very sub-par and inadequate. Hard to use and lots of transferring between portals. We refinanced with another company, CHFA owes is a decent amount of money that was in our escrow. 58 days later, we still don't have our refund check. **************** was rude and unhelpful. Now we need to wait another ***** days for another check to be sent out and they are unwilling to expedite. They will collect interest from their bank while my money sits in their account, shame on them.Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

I purchased my home in March of **** with my ex-husband through chafa. I still reside in the residence. Over the years I've had troubles with them crediting my payments to my account I have been charged several hundred dollars in late fees a year ago I went through a bankruptcy was able to keep my home kept up with my payments and somewhere along the line once again chafa did not credit a payment to me in the year ************************************************** I managed to get that situation straightened out and I did get the payment credited to my account almost exactly a year later they did the exact same thing and did not credit a payment to me about the time that the bankruptcy was discharged I have spoken with several Representatives and every one of them tell me that I am a month behind on my payments I have overpaid them several times the money that they say that I owe and then the next month when I make my payment they say I'm a month behind again I don't know who else to talk to I have talked to everybody possible each one of them says that they're going to take note of it and send it to a representative to get back to me and I never hear back the late fees are building up and my credit after the bankruptcy is probably so messed up from this company. I dread having to make my monthly payment because I know they're going to tell me that I'm behind when I'm not for 2 years I've gone through this my stress level is over the top I have been in and out of the hospital with health issues. I have been late a few times in the past but have made up my payments for that I have sent them copies of my bank statements my personal private information to prove to them that I have made the payments I save all of the confirmation numbers I've read them back to them and they can agree with me over the phone that I'm not behind but each person I speak to has no idea what to do next. I continue to make my monthly mortgage payment so I know that that's not falling behind. I just need to know if there's somebody that I can contact to get this straightened out it's becoming ridiculous. It did help reading on the BBB website knowing that I'm not alone in this matter. That other people have had the exact same issue with chafa mortgage and loanColorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response

Nothing but trouble...My loan was sold to CHFA, and they stopped paying my hazard insurance from escrow, I got my own policy and sent them the declaration page following the directions on the website - 4 times! I finally got someone to listen to me and was told I should apply for a loan modification, I can't afford the $500+ monthly escrow increase for the lender placed insurance plus the policy I'm carrying on my own, but no one cares to look into it for me. I filled out the loss mitigation application, and after a month of no response I sent an email to every address I could find, I finally received an apology and a list of paperwork I needed to submit, most of it I had already submitted. finally after another month of sending paperwork over and over, I received a notice that my loss mitigation application had been accepted, along with a certified letter stating I was in default, That's when I found out my credit score had dropped 130 points, and I started receiving daily collection calls.. after more than a month I received notice that I was given a forbearance, and had seven days left before my payments were to resume. I still cant afford the payments, but I was going to pay everything but the increase in the escrow, turns out they wont take a partial payment, so it appears I have to continue defaulting on my loan. I can't refinance because they destroyed my credit, (it's called dual tracking), I've also been told i need to make arrangements to pay back my forbearance, so I'm in worse trouble than before. I'm disabled, and I care for my elderly mother, were both on fixed incomes and have only lived in this house for 2 years, and my mortgage has already gone up more than the two of us can afford. I'm hoping to find an attorney to protect my interests, but since an attorney won't make a lot of money off the case, no one has expressed any interest in helping.Customer Response

The recording that they leave on my phone every weekday, around 8:30AM, says that I'm to call them or log into the website, if I call them I end up leaving a message, and I get no reply - and if I go to the website and log into my account there's nothing there other than the loss mitigation application I submitted, it doesn't even show my forbearanceCustomer Response

I have about 20 recorded collection calls saved on my phone, usually they call about 8:30 in the morning, exact same recorded message, they tell me to call them (i'm tired of leaving messages), or to log on to my online account, which has never been updated, and never changes.Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Response
